Ado is a 19 year old Japanese college girl. She debuted a year ago with the song "usseewa" which has over 200 million views. The song received harsh criticism among Japanese elders. She is considered a bit of a rebel, as the lyrics can be a bit harsh on Japanese society. She is very popular among the young people of Japan.
She was signed for a live concert, but it was canceled due to covid.
There was great excitement among the fans whether she would show her face or sing behind a curtain or something like that. Some pictures of a girl who is supposed to be her, have been uploaded to YT.

All of Ado's MVs to date are animated. When this came out she was still in high school (still might be) - whether that's relevant to her decision to not be seen in them, I don't know, but from what else I've seen, seems like she wants to remain private.
I'm a HANABIE fan, their first LP is in my top 3 albums of the year but I also like Ado and I prefer the original version the song. Ado dropped some bangers this year ("Odo", "Gira Gira" and "Readymade"), she has an amazing voice and I can't wait for her first album.
So, my vote goes to Ado and my love goes to HANABIE. 😄
While Hanabie’s version of this exists in the world, the world can’t be such a bad place after all, eh? I don’t usually bother with covers too much as usually the west aren’t familiar with the originals, but seeing as Hanabie just totally owned this song, it’s a rare and wonderful exception to that rule.
Huge Hanabie fan. Had never heard of Ado before them. I’m curious how many other people found Ado because of Hanabie🌸🥰
I really like both versions but Hanabie's is always favourite for all the same reasons you gave. Surprising you didn't mention Ado's unique voice. I guess Teddyloid's production took enough of the airspace :) If you want to see what the fuss is about try Ado - Usseewa. She is truly one of a kind in her own way like Yukina.

Ado has an amazing, truly unique voice, and the producer did a fantastic job. But Matsuri also has an amazing, truly unique voice, Hanabie really made the song their own with this metal cover.
Your pronunciation of Hanabie is very good, but it would be even better if you tried to say it with equal emphasis on each syllable. Japanese speak without stressing any single syllable. That’s maybe the hardest thing did native English speakers to emulate.
If you're up for another compare and contrast react of a j-metal cover of a j-pop song, I'd recommend Nemophila's cover of Niziu's "Make You Happy".

The pronunciation of the band name is: HAH-NAH-BEE-EH. The E at the end makes the sound of the E in "bet". Personally I just say HANA-BEE-UH because saying "Eh" sounds wrong, feels wrong and is a pain to explain to everyone I show the band to lol

Ado is young Japanese singer which just break out last year huge and this song was a big hit. The video is MV for her.
But I love the Hanabie version, which is rock 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘.

I liked the comparison, especially since the cover, while faithful to the original, is very much a Hanabie song.
Honestly that original version was okay, not gonna lie lol. Hanabie's cover actually makes the song enjoyable to listen to. I love them and their metal version has been in my head for a couple days now. The metal is so clean and makes you wanna snap your neck. Yukina and Matsuri are superior in the vocal department, so it sounds so much better from them. Love HANABIE and Yukina is my kawaii megami🥰 🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻
Superior in the vocal department?? Not even close listen to ado’s cover of crime and punishment just to see how wrong you are but if that is still your opinion well that’s how it is.

Maybe Hanabie was best, but the original version, was very good too 😃. I hope they dont start to produce covers the way Nemophila did though. Covers are basically very boring
