    So Keychron has been very busy lately... launching new keyboards after another. At first, it was the K series wireless boards... then it was the Q series enthusiast series. Now... they have launched the V series "Entry" boards. The first of its kind is the V1... it's essentially a entry version of the venerable Q1. But is it any good? Especially for $54? Well... it can be! I show you how to do it! With O-Rings from 2020!
    NOTE: I made a mistake when I said the TIGER80 LITE was $89... it's supposed to be $125 ish.

    Just wanted to let you know, they added a disclaimer on the V1 product page that "Starting July 20th, the shipping fees will be decreased by $10 and the product prices will increase by $10." So, instead of the barebones knobless version being $54, it's now $64, but that doesn't matter because the total cost after shipping will still be the same. Still, nice video tho.

    You can accrully gasket mount a keyboard with foam, you basicly stack much foam around the standoffs and screw the two inner screws in, you can also combine it with o-ring mod.

    • @Keybored
      @Keybored  Рік тому +9

      Ahh the stack mount. The V1 kind of comes like that already. The lower silicone pad is thick so the pcb can bounce on it. However, the upper plate actually screws into the lower case so if you omit that, you may be able to pull it off

Ik clickies sounds best in a plastic hollow case with tall keycaps like SA or MT3 profile so just wondering what's the most optimal way of making a clicky keyboard build!

By the way, have you heard about the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's an amazing tool for keeping your setup clean and tidy. • @JohnnyK-tf6ig
      @JohnnyK-tf6ig 3 місяці тому

      This is an old video but I hate looking for answers to questions and no one replies, especially on old vids haha. I'm looking at doing this with my V5, not for the sound but to soften the harshness of the steel plate.
      The o-rings have nothing to do with the foam. The plate foam has holes in it where the standoffs of the case go up and through the PCB/foam sandwich. There's also holes in the foam for the standoffs of the plate that secure the PCB to it with screws from the bottom. The o-rings will just sit inside the holes in the foam and up against the bottom of the plate. You can see all these holes in the plate foam at 5:05 of the video.
      The o-rings will sit on directly on top of the plastic standoffs of the case. The plate then sits on top of the o-rings.

    • @JohnnyK-tf6ig
      @JohnnyK-tf6ig 3 місяці тому

      The only thing I'm worried about is this puts the PCB/plate assembly up slightly higher in the case. The holes in the case where the USB cable and Mac/Win switch are might have to be enlarged a little bit at the top.

      @@JohnnyK-tf6ig Thanks for your reply mate, appreciate your help. I see that the wholes in the foam, you are pointing out in the video, are much bigger than the ones on my foam. Maybe it changed with newer units. Mine are so small that seems that the o-rings are mostly in touch with the foam, letting the screws go through the standoffs but seemingly the standoffs barely or not at all touch the o-rings. Anyway I'll try it and let you know how it goes.

      You shouldn't worry about this. We both missed the point that the rings sit above the PCB in the standoffs so it doesn't affect the position of the USB cable and switch. Also, I've done the mod and to be honest don't seem much of a difference.
