If Jesse started with a foal, he would end up with the most amazing horse. I got my horse as a foal and for those first few years I did a ton of stuff with her to make her confidence and brain grow. Horses are like people, early stimulation maximizes brain potential. She ended up almost human, she was so smart. Jesse would do an infinitely better job than I did, his horse would end up incredible :)
But seriously, what happens when one of them gets a girlfriend and moves out? Either way, the puppy is so cute! And it's obvious, they're going to be GREAT dog parents. I'm jealous of that dog.. ha ha
Maisie looks like Jesse’s biological daughter. What a sweet baby. I can almost smell her baby puppy smell. Now that the oohs and aahs are over, I am so impressed with how thoughtful you two are over every decision you make. You don’t rush into things without careful consideration. THAT’s the way to pick a new addition to your family.❤️💕
You brought out a good point about not wanting to work with a dog that could have behavioral issues ( from a pound) because you don't have the skills to follow through with that. In America, the majority of pound dogs are there because of behavioral issues. Unless an owner is willing to get educated about the dogs issues, many are returned out of new owner frustration. To me, it sounds like you did exactly the right thing for your needs , so good for you in being perfectly honest. No question, she will be well taken care of.
I respect y’all so much for knowing that a shelter wasn’t the best for y’all due to lack of dog experience. Not everybody can handle a shelter dog and many find out after adopting and then the dog is taken back and it’s sad. I think y’all made a good choice.
I agree. It really annoys me when I see those people that feel like you HAVE to adopt a animal from a shelter...ie: adopt, don't shop. I actually do support adopting pets from a shelter, in fact my 2 dogs and 3 of my cats are all rescues. However, 2 of my cats are from private breeders, and I don't like it when people judge you just because you bought an animal instead of adopting one. I always check our shelter before buying. Unfortunately, the shelter doesn't always have what I'm looking for (if you're in the market for a pitbull, they are never without them at any shelter). It seems like Matt and Jesse didn't just buy the first one they saw, but shopped around until they found a puppy that they liked.
Very much agree. Not everybody can handle a dog with issues. I personally am all for breeders who do things right and are in it for the breed and not the money. People usually hate on that. I rescue a lot and especially with horses and dogs they come with so many problems from how they were previously treated and not everybody can handle that.
@@bambideerranch8698 exactly! Responsible breeders are needed to keep the breed of any pure breed animal up to standard and by selective breeding, they keep the breed from getting health problems. Unfortunately, the rando backyard breeders and puppy mills have soured people's opinions on breeders, and filled our shelters with the products of their irresponsible breeding.
But not all of the shelter dogs had a bad life in the past. Our first dog was from the shelter and she was a 7 month old german shepard x collie. She hadn't got any experience because she only lived in a garden. It wasn't easy but we searched for a good trainer that also became a good friend and he still helps us with our second dog. He is also from a shelter, same breed, but he is different because he actually had a difficult past (he's from spain and had 8 owners in the past). We never had any experience with such a dog but with a trainer you can do it. I hate people that say that it is better to not adopt your first dog. It is so wrong to say that. If you go to a shelter you will take a few walks with that dog/these dogs and you will get to know them. If you get a dog you can't handle you don't have to adopt it. And don't forget that if you buy a puppy from a breeder you will have the full responsibility for its education and if you don't have any experience you will see it later. And maybe after a few years you can't handle that dog either and it becomes a shelter dog, too. Do what you want but please educate yourself before buying or adopting an animal! It's so important. And always have someone that actually has experience and can help.
And so it begins. "The Adventures of Amazing Maisie". She's already filled a giant spot in both your hearts and home. There is no doubt that she will enrich your lives with much joy and laughter.
Jesse, you are so loving, gentle and kind…you melt my heart! Matt, I love that you love that Jesse is so happy. The two of you are such good puppy papas!!!
OMG! You're smothering that poor dog. Lol French bulldogs are the cutest. When I got my poodle, the kennel sent us a sheet on how to house train them. You feed them then take them outside to poo. Do that 3very time and they will be housebroken in no time. Worked great. Best to have a pet door and a fenced yard for them.
Matt: ...what was it? A Labrashit? Jesse: First thing she did was shit (Matt: You can't say that) LOL I love these two! And I bet I'm not the only one that saw Matt look straight at Jesse for half a second (then quickly to the dog) when they both said she was the "love of their life". ;)
OMG ... people who actually look into breeds of dogs and think about their lifestyle before grabbing the first "cute" puppy they see. Gratz guys on the new pup and all the best to all of you.
Mazy's ears are so precious. Maybe if you get another dog , he or she could be a shelter dog that you'll love, and Mazy too. They'd be so grateful for love.
Am so glad you consider yourselves a FAMILY, loving that 💜 Sorry, but that’s a very pitiful looking dog. Needs lots of love to over come. Thought, I’d change it up, with all these girls flirting. Side note too, has not Holland Eliminated homelessness as well as stray dogs? Only country in the world to do so.
I counted 29 (or maybe 30) sweet little kisses from Jesse to Maisey in this video. I can't decide who is the cutest, Matt, Jesse or Maisey! They're ALL cute & all your fans & friends cherish you! Enjoy every minute! 👍🥳🥰😍🤩🎆😉😄 love 2 you all from Denver, Colorado, USA!!!

Randolph Sherwood : omg ... might have been “Lost in translation “ lol It was really funny though.. no judgement. Just English can be challenging With phrasing etc.
There's a same situation in Finland with rescues, they're mostly german shepherd/rottweiler mixes with a background, and there really isn't that many rescues, there's usually around 5 dogs available at same time in Helsinki area. They DO definitely need a home with experience, and there's no stray dogs really, very rarely any puppies. Most rescues people have in here are from abroad, from Spain, Romania, Russia etc. It's a thing many people do not get, we don't have problems like that with dogs, with cats we do, but not with dogs. There's no strays, there's just people who should've never had a dog but did. There's no dogs euthanized because they don't find homes and there are too many in shelters, they only get euthanized if there's too much health issues that'll cause dog severe pain, or they're too aggressive even for professionals to handle safely and life with people would be way too stressful for them. I'm still soo disappointed you went for the breed that is fashionable now, because they're cute due to the fact they have two major mutations, affecting their whole breathing system and ability to regulate their body temperature normally, and another mutation in their spine, and that's just for starters. As a horse people you must understand how big issues those are, and cuteness is no excuse to knowingly breed those problems forward to new puppies. Most dog breeds do have some health issues, but it's different when it's a trait breeders try to get out from the breed for them to be healthy, or when it's severe mutations knowingly passed from one generation to another worsening it, because sickness equals cuteness. :( I mean, she is worth a world, and that's why she would definitely earn a right to a muzzle and healthy bones.
@@wholesome122 I've never met a pitbull I didn't like. They are actually sweet by nature but people abuse them and then they become neurotic. Any abused dog will do that.
You made the right choice going for a dog from a breeding center, especially if strays aren't as common where you live. As you rightly said, dogs from shelters often have traumas or health issues that requiure knowledge and experience, and it wouldn't have been fair for this knd of dog if you hadn't been able to take proper care of it. Maisie is adorable and from what Iv're seen in your more recent videos, she's really happy and thriving!
G’day Jesse & Matt, and the most beautiful Maisy, it would be wonderful to see Maisy grow up with a play mate fur brother or sister, especially when you two are so busy horsing around she will be much more settled and happy with her fur buddy too. Hey Matt and Jesse, first of all, I am a huge fan of you guys and and your horses (and even your puppy)! I don't want to be negative about anything, but as a student of veterinarian medicine I have to say the following: I am a bit disappointed that you guys choose a French bulldog (see online for all their health issues). You guys are an idol for so many people, and with this puppy you are following the trend and popularising the French bulldog. It is not okay to select on genetic disabilities to make a breed! You could have shown the world that it's not okay to have a breed, that is selected and bred sofar that they can't breath normal and have really bad health and genes, by choosing another breed. We as Dutch veterinarians call them "lopende genetische afwijking", they are the breed we earn the most of because they are ill that often! We and many other animal lovers would prefer that they were less popular, because of those welfare issues. Please read more about it and if possible make a public statement about it. That you guys didn't know, or that it's really important that you select a breeder that breeds by selecting the healthy ones, not just the ones with the shortest nose. I am sorry for sending you this post, and don't want to temper your joy with the new puppy at all! But as a veterinarian to be I had to write this down. I hope you read this! As I said, I am a huge fan and I will keep enjoying your videos! Xx Thijs
Congratulations! Hey- don't be disheartened by anyone who has a negative opinion about Frenchies. They are excellent pets. I appreciate that you went to the shelter, and that you went about to different breeders looking for a good fit. I agree w/you that your lifestyles will place certain demands on your dog- personality, energy, size- it is good that you went with a breed that was bred to suit your lifestyle. That said- puppies are like small children- first couple of months will be a lot of work, loss of sleep, messes- but so worth it! I'm so happy for both of you- can't wait to see all the Maisy videos!
The reason that Holland really has little to no stray animals is country-mandated legislation that allows spaying and neutering services to be FREE for its citizens. One of the only countries in the world to have this service
as someone who's really critical when it comes to dog breeding, I just love that you thought of adopting from a shelter and I think your arguments about why you ended up buying a puppy are very reasonable. you two are going to be awesome dog owners, I'm sure!
@@canisfamiliaris351 well, I understand your concerns but what breed should they buy then? there is no breed you don't hear any health horror storys about, it's just that bulldog-like dog breeds have the strongest reputation because their specific problem is visible, unlike the problems of, for example, Rottweilers, German Shepherds etc. whether or not Mazy is a badly bred dog - we can't see it for now, it'll show in the future, when she grows a little. I haven't seen her parents, Matt and Jesse saw them and if they looked unhealthy I don't think they would've bought her.
Clearly you're not really educated on the breed as you're so " critical when it comes to breeding". Frenchies are really prone to and have a high chance of getting health issues such as heart conditions, slipped discs or spine deformations in general and breathing issues due to the way their bred and build. A scary high number of young frenchies die due to those conditions and issues.
@@zirkuskatzegarfield627 I know that. but these issues are not only found in french bullys. every dog breed there is has massive health problems, but not in every individual and not in every lineage.
Congratulations! She is so adorable. Did anyone else notice that she and Jesse match? His hoodie and the inside of her ears. Her head color and his hair. So cute!
You should put this video on Matt's channel too. It will explain to a lot of people of why you picked a puppy and the breed. People are being sooo mean in the comments about their opinions on his video, and since you answered many of the questions here I think it would help. Sorry you are getting some negativity, but your puppy is sooo cute! Congratulations! I know you guys will be amazing doggie owners. Have fun socializing her as much as possible while she is young to have a well rounded, friendly adult dog. We can already see she is very loved and well cared for!
I love how you couldn't finish a sentence because you got distracted by Mazie, but I get it, she's so freaking adorable! I also love how you choose where to get your dog. Being so realistic about it, trying to help dogs in need, but still thinking about what would be best for them. Sometimes people get to distracted by the wish of helping a dog in need, which doesn't fit their lifestyle or level of experience. I think she has an amazing new home and two great new dads and I hope you have an amazing time! I'm really happy for you!
Based on how spoiled and loved your horses are, this dog is going to be the most spoiled pup in the world! She scored an amazing family! I can't wait to see what tricks Jesse teaches her :D

The reason that Holland really has little to no stray animals is country-mandated legislation that allows spaying and neutering services to be FREE for its citizens. One of the only countries in the world to have this service
Yas! Their program is amazing!! More contraries should follow.
as someone who's really critical when it comes to dog breeding, I just love that you thought of adopting from a shelter and I think your arguments about why you ended up buying a puppy are very reasonable. you two are going to be awesome dog owners, I'm sure!
But the breed.. Why would they go for a brachycephalic dog. This is very dissapointing.
@@macewindu6952 That's not true only overbred breeds who are in fashion now or have been in fashion have health issues
She is beautiful
Congratulations! She is so adorable. Did anyone else notice that she and Jesse match? His hoodie and the inside of her ears. Her head color and his hair. So cute!
If I shaved my poodle he'd have the same markings! He has lots of names... Boomer, Noodle, Blonde Panda! 🤣
Oh my God, you three are so sweet and beautiful🤍🤍🤍
Such a cute little family!
