  • Buyer Resist started as a FaithTech Labs project with an insightful premise: How might we work to help end human trafficking at the point of demand?
The team had a deep care for this issue, seeking to help those caught in human trafficking, and those struggling with addiction, or not even knowing that they were doing anything wrong by seeking out an escort.
For the first prototype, the team built a website to connect with men looking online to buy sex; helping men discover the truth about what they were doing and who they were exploiting, and guiding them to the resources they need to overcome sexual addiction.
Demand was much larger than they initially thought, so the team brought their prototype to the next level at a hack-a-thon by working on a tailored chatbot, and also placing ads on specific sites to intercept more men as they were searching online. Using the chatbot to respond to initial inquiries before connecting to a person on the team has helped manage the team's time, giving them more opportunities to journey with more men towards recovery.
Through FaithTech Labs, the idea has moved from prototype to a nonprofit organization with a sustainable model, making an incredible difference for an issue the team cares deeply about.
It's also opened up the opportunity to share a message of hope and redemption as they help the men they journey with see that the intimacy they're looking for won't be found with an escort.
