- Costco is now offering the United States GOLD BUFFALO bullion coin!
What a fantastic compliment to Costco's .999 pure gold bullion offerings!
In this video, we'll discuss what sets the gold buffalo apart from other gold bullion coins, including the gold eagle. We'll examine some of the positives and negatives of these gorgeous solid gold coins made by the United States Mint.
In this video I mention the other videos we have done on Costco's gold and silver products. You'll find the complete video series here:
• COSTCO Precious Metals...
And remember, Costco won't buy their gold bullion back from you. But you do have some options should you arrive at the decision to sell. You'll find that video here:
• How to SELL Your COSTC...
Hey there @W.C.PreciousMetals_Coins Thanks for the update on Gold Buffalos - I ordered a roll of Canadian Gold Maples Leafs, American Gold Eagles and American Gold Buffalos yesterday (one of each) - Couldn’t use Costco as they only offer 2 coins maximum per membership - Also I am ordering monster boxes of American Silver Eagles, American Silver Buffalos and Canadian Silver Maples Leafs later today (one of each) - This will be strictly to add to my precious metals collection - I’ll stick to accumulating large gold and silver bars as my investments - Have a wonderful day and keep it up (hope to see you with a silver UA-cam play button when you cross 100k subscribers as you deserve it with the quality of your content - You have a great soothing voice, detailed information and patient presentation)
Baller!!
Sahib PakistanZindaGOOD! Baller is right! Sounds like you're all in on precious metals. The American Silver Buffalos, though? Is that a .999 silver round or is there a US mint release that got past me without noticing?
@@Dub-C_Coins haha 😂 not a baller at all - Just a “slow and steady wins the race mentality” since 1994. Yes you are correct - they are rounds and not government issued legal tender. The silver buffalos are from a private mint and today I got a steal at just over $23 each. I used FindBullionPrices to shop the best deal/price for the monster box of 500 coins packaged in 20 coin individual roll sleeve containers.
FYI - I actually began my collection with vintage and ancient numismatic coins, then became a stacker searching for the most metal for my money via bars, so this is my first real significant purchase of newer smaller denomination coins. I figured they may come in handy if I ever need to make smaller purchases in a SHTF scenario without having to exchange/sell my bars or melt/cut them down. Thanks for turning my eyes onto them - Looking forward to your next video!
Costco is now allowing you to purchase 5 at a time
Show off.
Bullion Exchanges sells these same patriotic assay cards and also on Walmart. Pamp makes a patriotic gold bar assay card. Pamp makes various designs assay cards for dealers. I assume Pamp makes these patriotic cards too.
I'm leaning towards BUFFALOS right now!
The gold is much more impressive. The silver just kind of looks like a big nickel. Four nines is nice, though.
I'm new in on this gold and silver I saw what you got there I got a little bit more of what you show in your video I also got Pam bars I also got maple I also got American eagle I got 20 oz and I also got American eagle 40 oz of silver and I just bought one buffalo from Costco I had it in a safe and I only stock I don't sell and I'm going to keep buying I got a little bit you know from maple pan American eagle buffalo and I also bought a 1000 oz on silver bar I keep buying gold like I said I don't need to sell I got money so that's for my daughter when she grow up I just a crazy dude with money that's it but I only got one Buffalo ounce any gave me 2% cash back so my credit card also give me 3% cash back so I just wanted that because I like them you know the buffalo I like the style that just me but everything I got is maple Pam in American eagle I just only got one buffalo ounce because I like them and like I said that's for my daughter when she grow up I stock don't sell because I could do it you know 💸💸💸👋👋👋
Costco is also selling 100 gram bars, Maple Leafs, etc. How long before Costco starts being a buyer as well?
Yep. Check out my whole Costco series where I talk about all of their precious metals options:
ua-cam.com/play/PLebJigXP2OH_e_8QCZtHagj7p0ZdMC317.html
I don't think Costco will ever be a buyer, though. It's just not part of their business model.
Thanks for the content. I’m a buffalo fan.
Thanks for watching!
I’m poor so on leaning towards the one tenth ounce bullion but if I could dump over two grand at once I’d buy a buffalo.
Yes you can buy 1-oz gold buffaloes at Costco… and in true Costco fashion, they come in a 24-pack. 🤣
LOL! So long as the premiums were super low!
Liked and subbed. That is amazing
I have a friend that works at a Costco and he had no idea what I was talking about when I asked him about gold and silver being sold at Costco. I wonder what’s next though… slabbed collectable coins.
~I’ve typically liked the buffaloes better. I wouldn’t say I’m a super fan, I just like them a bit better.
Has anyone posted they've received them and what kind of condition were they in. There were many negative post in reference to the condition of the bars they sold.
People in my circle around college age lean more to the buffalo. The idea of 1 pure oz is the seller
Whats up WhiteCross....thanks for another video
I'm all about 24k gold. So for me, the ranking is: Buffalo > Maple > Eagle
Well, JustAboutAnything, I'm not all that concerned with whether or not COSTCO is offering the Gold Buffalo coin. True, it is interesting that a giant wholesaler would get into the business of selling precious or monetary metals, but they are a business after all. They do want to make money, and given the trajectory of the economy, it may be that they recognized that this sort of product might appeal to a significant segment of their customer base. I actually prefer to purchase only American Gold Eagles and/or South African Krugerrands for the 22k composition that you mentioned. It just so happens that 22k is much closer to a circulation composition than something like the Gold Buffalo, and though I think the possibility of circulating Gold in the future is quite low, I want a maximum number of options within a reasonable set of constraints, if and when I attempt to make use of my metals in the future. I also limit myself to 1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 ounce choices for the same reason. It is often difficult for people to afford a full 1 ounce Gold coin, and it is necessarily true that your universe of possible buyers expands dramatically as you drop in the size of the coin. I don't go below 1/10 because smaller increments become too difficult to handle and easy to lose. In addition, anything that small in price can typically be handled by 5 to 8 Silver bullion coins/rounds stacked together. Generally speaking, I'm unconcerned with the collectible or numismatic values, as I'm purchasing the metals more for wealth insurance. Collectible/numismatic coins have their most robust value during good times, but wealth insurance is meant specifically to provide exposure during hard times. I do keep a lot of common date 90% Constitutional/Junk Silver because it continues to become more rare with each passing years, and so it has some level of inherent collectible value within in it. That's as far as it goes though. I would love to see the metals become more ubiquitous in society though, and so the sales from COSTCO are definitely an encouragement in that vein. It will be interesting to see how this turns out and if it catches on with other businesses. I think it would be great if far more people had exposure to Gold & Silver, particularly with the amount debt the United States is likely to accrue in the next several years. Very good informative video!
You pay a ton on premiums buying fractionals...!
You do know 24 kt coins are preferred at most jewelry stores, coin shops, pawn shops… Fact I s Eagles being 91,6% with copper and silver mix make it harder to refine for industrial use. The impurities need extraction to be able to mix the gold to the karat need to be specification. Also Only U minted gold coins have a different tax rate on capital gains versus Maple leafs, K-Rands , Philharmonics ….. . Check those facts before posting half truths or partial truths. Not one state charges sales tax on US minted bullion coins above $650. Some states require international gold be sale taxed.
People in my age group and younger are trending buffalo. I saw another UA-camr stack a pile of them and it wasn’t balanced. I guess the softness of 24k makes an uneven rim straight out of the tube. I honestly rather not deal with that.
Is there a difference between a buffalo that comes in an assay card like Costco offers and one that doesn't?
That' is a great question. The short answer is no. The assay card is an aftermarket product probably made for and packaged by the bullion wholesaler that Costco is buying their buffalos from. The coin contained within is the exact same buffalo you could buy from any of the mint's "authorized purchasers". The long answer has to do with the desirability of an assay card. While it offers protection to the delicate 24k surfaces of the buffalo, they also inhibit some of the tests one can perform on gold to attest to its purity, weight, and authenticity.
@@Dub-C_Coins Awesome! Thanks, Dub-C! 👍
We like both.
I like both.l lean to the eagle, because, there is no reason to pay more for the for the same gold
C'mon WC - tell us the price at COSTCO a couple hours ago.
Plus I hear from non-coin people they prefer the ASE over all other types because they are more recognizable than say rounds.
Maybe true with AGEs also for a newbe to take the leap?
$2079 online but somehow I can’t buy it due to non delivery area zip 🤷♀️
Great video, Gold Buffalos are a great addition for starting off a portfolio ! But if you are looking to really expand your collection Costco does not really offer much variety...
Absolutely correct. Local coin shops will have greater variety that might be a better fit for some people. Shop--or at least compare--locally!
@@Dub-C_Coins Absolutely! if you are ever in NYC, come find us ! 💪
Please post a link. I can't find Ag Buffalo for sale at costco.
Google "Costco Gold Buffalo"
I did. Nothing comes up.@@Dub-C_Coins
I like Buffalo.
Looks like I'll get a Buffalo or two!
Both
Good luck finding it there
Buffalo 24kt, maple leaf, etc...
I like the Maple Leaf better.
check your local gold and silver legal tender law bills. most only apply to US govt minted coins.
The US mint just started selling one ounce 2024 American Buffalo coin at $3200 per coin. The Costco is selling 2024 American 2024 Buffalo gold coin roughly at $2400. Why such a price difference? The US mint for these coins was June 16, 2024, where Costco was selling these coins prior to June 16th. Are there any differences between these two coins, and why a $800 price difference? Thanks.
That's an excellent question! The coins the mint is selling are "proofs". These are special coins made for collectors. They are made on carefully prepared "planchets", or blanks, and struck with special "dies"--the steel stamps that come together to strike the coin. They are often struck under higher pressure and sometimes struck several times to fully bring out the detail of the coin. Then they are placed in special packaging that protects their delicate and often mirror-like surfaces. The number of proofs struck is often far fewer than the number of regular or "circulation" strikes--though of course the gold buffalos don't actually circulate.
not sure I get the mystical Costco stuff. I have never found anything in stock... and there is better pricing elsewhere anyway. So I'm not sure it's worth effort. I do enjoy the thrill of the kill everyone is getting by buying pm at Costco. 🙂
You make fair points. But for folks who are new to precious metals, it's reassuring to buy them from a known and trusted source. Also, and I don't advocate it, you can combine them with Costco rewards cards and potentially other offers and drive the premiums down way, way low.
I heard that Costco charges sales tax also when you buy the gold coins from them. Is this correct info or not?
I've heard that as well---at least for online orders. My best suggestion is to make sure Costco knows if you are ordering from a municipality where gold and silver aren't taxed. This can vary from location to location.
Where is Costco buying these coins from?? How do we know they’re 100 real??
Excellent questions. It's my understanding they were coming from one of the major bullion distributors in the US. But it's possible Costco will start working directly with the various mints to source them in the future. One thing I wouldn't worry about is authenticity. Costco wouldn't jeopardize $250 billion in annual sales by selling anything but 100% authentic bullion.
@@Dub-C_Coins yea well they can claim ignorance by saying that they didn’t know. The packaging that they use doesn’t look like it comes from the US Mint which raises red flags for me.
@@JamesDiaz-v7h Always wise to be careful of fakes. There are fake bars/coins in assay cards, fake coins put into US government mint boxes, fake coins in PCGS NGC holders, etc. Government mints and private mints have been using assay cards for years to protect bars/coins such as Canada, South Korea, Pamp, Argor Heraeous, Apmex, Scottsdale, recently SD Bullion, etc. Though the US mint doesn't use assay cards some dealers take US bullion and put them in assay cards. In assay cards bars/coins can still be tested with XRF to see if they are genuine or not. The Costco assay cards look cool to me, I like them. I 100% trust they are genuine.
Can’t be a shortage of gold if Costco is slinging gold 😂
OR Silver - 2 new huge finds and the AISC at existing mines has been $11 for a long time.
You’re absolutely correct in stating that there’s no shortage of gold. I heard on one of the UA-cam videos that if all the miners stopped mining gold right now, there will be 8 years worth of gold for everyone to own.
2 new of the largest silver deposits ever discovered have recently been identified also, and the current mines aren't even running hard - ($11 AISC). Wall Street just plays with the little people by using their "sky is falling" and "the world is ending" normal control of the supplies/suppliers who are told what to say and do.
Look at the price of gold, there is way more demand than supply.
Cannot find on website
Google "Costco Gold Buffalo"
What price over spot?
The last time I caught the price (they go really, really fast) was $2079. Just over a week ago. I think that was with spot price of maybe $2015. So about a 3% premium or roughly $65.
24 Buffalo
Buffalo 🎉
I would use a chopstick to point at your products. Waving your hand is annoying. Thank you.
I scared my wife by shouting, “Dub C represent!”… I need help
And I told her she lacked tegrity…
She definitely does not lack 'tegrity!
