i think you will just add seam allowance and sew the boning on the allowance

Your best bet is to add boning to your lining fabric. Drape on the outer fabric. Add boning to the lining. You’ll get the structure when you join the two layers together.

It’s called interfacing. You can get it with adhesive on it or without adhesive. It adds strength and structure to fabric.
