The Story of the First Christmas
A long time ago, in a small town called Nazareth, there lived a kind young woman named Mary. One day, an angel named Gabriel visited Mary. “You are very special,” the angel said. “God has chosen you to have a baby, and He will be called Jesus. He will be the Son of God!” Mary was surprised but trusted God.
Mary was engaged to a man named Joseph. When Joseph heard the news, he was unsure at first. But then, an angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel said, “Don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife. Her baby is from God, and He will save people from their sins.” Joseph woke up and did as the angel said.
Soon, the emperor ordered everyone to return to their hometown to be counted. Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem, Joseph’s family town. When they arrived, it was very crowded. All the inns were full! Finally, a kind innkeeper offered them a place to stay-a stable where animals were kept.
That night, in the quiet stable, Mary gave birth to baby Jesus. She wrapped Him in soft cloth and laid Him in a manger, a trough where animals ate.
Out in the fields, shepherds were watching their sheep. Suddenly, an angel appeared, and the sky lit up! “Don’t be afraid,” the angel said. “I bring good news for everyone! Today in Bethlehem, the Savior, Christ the Lord, is born!”
The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in the stable. They were amazed and told everyone about what they had seen.
Far away, wise men saw a bright star in the sky. They knew it was a sign of a new king. They followed the star until it led them to Jesus. They bowed down and gave Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
This was the first Christmas, a time of joy, love, and hope. People celebrated the birth of Jesus, who came to bring peace and light to the world.
