    I’d sooner listen to you ‘talking a load of bollocks’ than most people who think that they are talking sense. Keep it up!

    It’s good shit you’re talking Richard lol and it’s good for my mental health. Really appreciate you doing these videos. I reckon every farmer in the country should sign up to these schemes and sit back for a year or two. Easy money

    Never underestimate the value of talking bollocks, it's therapy. Best way to deal with all the shite I find is not to worry about what you can't control, which is most of it really. It'll dry, it always does. Comparing disasters with others is always good too - he that never ailed nowt never did nowt. With you on the SFi, it certainly has a place

    I have 120 acres in arable and have applied for my SFI putting 10 acres into a herbal lay and 90 acres into wild bird feed no reply yet.

    Richard The government can renege on agreements and not pay. The older generation have seen it before.

    You dont talk bollux chap. You talk the truth and it's from the heart. You're spot on about the mental health side of things as well. It's bl00dy horrible and dont i know it. In a better place now thank God. Never be afraid to talk about it either. There's alot of care out here mate.
    On the crop side, ever thought about those Capulet beans? Andrew Ward tried them this year. Looks like they showed some promise. Take care and have a pint on me!

    The view from the field with wellies on is always interesting. A scheme to encourage farmers to not produce food is an interesting policy. Best of luck & enjoy your break.

    Great video. We've given up with rapeseed total waste of time. We grew linseed last year. It was easy to combine we have planted even more this year which has got away great. We're lucky really haven't had any flooding and crops are looking well. Looking forward to seeing you. Regards to the family and farm crew

  • @FatLadofYork
    @FatLadofYork Рік тому +2

    The straw situation will be tighter still if everybody jumps on these schemes & plants less corn.

    Things bad or wrong when paying not to farm a crop but grow for crows an other vermin

  • @mikeman584
    @mikeman584 Рік тому +1

    Rich may I say that although you farm your farm well and to the best of your ability, there is a bigger if somewhat confused picture of the way ahead as far as the Government see it and if you are struggling against the elements and soil conditions OSR etc perhaps it makes more sense to go for the ski option. If there is in fact too much of a take up. I would say the Government parties would mitigate against this by producing qualifying standards to reduce payouts but your emphasis on good seed rates etc should see you home. I get the feeling you are sensitive to your environment and as custodian of your land would take some enjoyment out of viewing healthy wildlife populations. Then again if Labour get in next year or so will they have a different outlook? It’s a confused picture politically and weather wise. I don’t envy you. Take care all at Dove.

    Great update Richard, can't you get an old fodder beat harvester and do it yourself, millet,canary, peas, sunflowers, grain maize, winter linseed as alternative crops? Seed merchants taking p*ss that's about right, another no bullsh*t no b*llocks video. Growing birdseed, your be wearing a dress next rich.

    It’s sad to hear a farmer talk about putting land down to SFI but you need to make a living some how. Saying that, I can’t get any government help as technically I’m not farming, horses are leisure 🙄🤦‍♂
