I tried an EC60 replacement kit too for my failed 681-C, and it did not fit the box. The top mounting bracket was about an inch two much. I ended up just using by sitting it on top and creating a box vent over the overall unit. Not ideal, but I'll take it.
What I meat to say was "...corners that are CUT to the right height." :) Don't mind the black tape - that's just to keep in place a small piece of ceiling drywall that broke off. Note that I used super glue to attach the cover plate corners.
@@jonnymosco You can see it installed here: plett.space/images/Bath_fan.JPG I think it actually looks pretty sharp, and you hardly notice anything out of the ordinary if the corner pieces are kept white. Please excuse the 2-years worth of dust build-up around it - the Broan is quite a nice and powerful fan, so it really draws in the air - someone who actually dusts with any regularity won't have that problem :)
@@jpl377 interesting thx! i have that old nutone and am looking to replace it... i found the motor but not the blade (i can't seem to figure out how to remove the blade off the old one, as the setting screw seems stuck). I wish an upgrade kit for this size existed. im considering widening the hole as well to fit newer models.. what a pain!

Thx! What does it look like with the cap on? Having trouble picturing it.
