I really like all the detail, watched it all the way to "the end". Your determination in getting those permaseal lenses off in order to "break on through" to the other side was quite admirable.
A major problem I see with these headlights is the degrading/decay of the wires inside the assembly. I'm sure the year-long FL heat doesn't help. Your video and attention to detail is superb, thanks
Amazing you helped me a lot :) was not doing dynamic lights because of these customizations now i know how to do it. But anyway dont know if i'm gonna do it :D
Good job, one thing tho. I am pretty sure that the dynamic function won't work because the starter on the D2S bulb will hit the side and not fully turn. And boy they turn a lot. I had to use Evox-R projectors. They fit right in, require almost no modification. Might try them next time 👍 the bracket you used would be good for G5 style Bi Led projectors tho
thanks man! the dynamic function does work. i made sure to manually turn the gears of the dynamic system to swivel the assembly left and right full sweep to make sure there wasn't any binding/external interference. I should have showed that part sorry! the dynamic moor has hall effect sensors I believe so even if you swivel the system away from where it was, it will/should reset back to a 0 set point when the system is engaged.
"...First you need to cut all four little nibs off..." So I paused video, went to my workshop to slice off the plastic clips, and then excitedly continued watching the video for instructions on what to do next...
I usually watch videos all the way through before actually starting to work. Sorry if you cut those nibs off already, but I thought I posted the update pretty quickly. Literally right after I said that I cut the video and told you not to do that.
@@THE46GUY I was joking, of course I didn't cut the plastic retainers off! 🤣 But I don't understand why you didn't edit that first section of the video out before uploading to UA-cam.
Sorry that this happened to you. I only used a small amount just to hold the rings in place while the black silicon RTV cured to hold the rings in permanently. mine didn't drip down however since the lenses are now installed with adhesive instead of permaseal, its not hard to remove the lends and clean up the drip and reasssemble. part of headlight assembly and retrofit unfortunately has some trial and error. its not always perfect the first time and go around. videos like this are guides and snapshots of my personal experience but yours and everyone elses may vary.
thanks! Here is a post from my instagram where I posted my results from leveling the lights and then a video showing the projector beams against a wall showing the lateral movement of the AFS headlights. you can tell from the Beams on the wall how much more bright and coverage you have over the stock projector lens combo,. instagram.com/p/CjoPCAhpE7n/?
I just watched 1:51 of an EXCELLENT DIY video! Well done, I feel a bit better about having a crack at what you did. The new Xenon lens looked great but it's a shame the kit needed so much Dremel work. God knows what happened to the high beam Angel eye ring, wow, not even a close fit. I'd nearly be tempted just to fit the smaller ring in the chrome housing and leave the larger ring altogether. Really like the way you resealed the lens in the oven also. I was hoping you didn't have any ooze out and you accidentally got some on your gloves and then touched your new lens! 😬 My lights are identical to yours however my adaptive lights have a fault as indicated by the flashing green led when you turn the lights on. Any idea what they may be? Motor or the controller? What's more common? Can you fix that? Thanks again, really really helpful! 👍👍
@@Homerlovesbeer2 yes I had a fault after this. My passenger headlight stops moving left right if I use automatic mode. Possibly a stepper motor range or interference issue. Haven't reopened them and just use the normal on mode and the lights have no issues with up down level movement.

Outstanding first DYI vid. Your attention to the details and manner of working is fascinating. And yes, I watched all 111 mins.

Did you have any shorts after this? Your wiring is disintegrating just like mine and I'm now too scared to attempt to do this........
