I worked there for a short while in 1982. As big as it looks it was a very small piece of the industrial complex that existed in what is known to many as the Delaware Valley. The 1973 oil crisis set the stage for what would be the fall of the industrial might in the USA.

Yep budd was a large employer they had a big plant in my hometown in Delaware also! and America was the industrial leader we need to get back to that title!

Looks pretty clean in there considering and not as much water damage as Pepper Middle School (abandoned) in Southwest Philly.

No doubt about that! They did a good job of cleaning it out and making it relatively safe! And I don’t know if you’ve been by pepper lately but it has been cleaned up and they are repurposing it in the future

Wow! What a history lesson I think I used to pass by one of these buildings when I would walk to work back in 1989-1991 and read BUDD what’s that??🤷🏽‍♀️ Seeing your video makes me wonder what were the last orders, why was this piece of equipment left in that position on the rail mid air, what was the last piece of equipment made, who punched out last, did they lock the facility up etc.????🧐yeah I know who cares.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hey thank you I appreciate this comment! The budd company was a leader in real car innovation ! The last cars produced were 300 rapid transit cars for the Chicago transit Authority 1984
