Some people are just trying to sell way too fast and it's quite annoying. Sharing free information, education and inspiration, along with the paid options/ solutions to people's problems is super important. Awesome video!
Ellise, One of my biggest fears is coming across as a greedy salesman, or that I’m just in it for the money. I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t enjoy it and I really appreciate your characterization of this as helping someone solve a problem, or just helping in general. For sensitive people like me it is truly empowering to see the situation like that. Thank you SO much.
Yes. I just got that some years ago. A friend wanted to catch up, and asked to meet me for dinner. I thought it was nice, but during that dinner, it came through that she wanted me to have a home party to help her sell her stuff. That was actually the intention why she wanted to meet me. Later, I was in the hospital because of back problems, and suddenly she sent me a message - if I wanted to buy some nice creams and stuff to take care of myself... 🙄 She could have given me this as a present! That would have been a totally different outcome! So - now I haven't seen her for a long time!
MLM messages always give me this icky feeling - not because they’re trying to sell me something, but because the whole thing is sooooo inauthentic!! Like I know you’re JUST messaging me because you want something from me. And I feel like as a creator - it should be the opposite focus. What’s in it for your audience/community?!
You share such value on your channel and IG platforms, Elise! I just found you, and I'm so grateful I did. Keep up the great work!! You inspire me. (Love the teal color scheme in today's video, btw.)
Elise, want to let you know as a Senior Entrepreneur I really appreciate your content! I find applying the concepts to my business Instagram account simple and clear! Keep up the great work! BTW how do you get your voice to sound like a chipmunk on certain points in the video?
I find as an artist the challenge is that the kind of tips I or other artists gives are really tips that would only appeal to artists. But ones audience may be people who like ones particular genre or style of art. How would you suggest artists provide value on Instagram for audience rather than just people who do say resin art or something ? Most artists just show our process- how we create our work. We aren’t interior designers so really couldn’t say how people can incorporate art into their decor. I could really use tips because I find a lot of advice on growing ones Instagram is hard er to figure out as artists because most followers we get are just other artists which is annoying. What amazes me is my second cousin drew a portrait of the host of the cooking show Hell’s Kitchen and he commented on her artworK. I’m baffled as to how that even reached him. Any ideas? When is it appropriate to tag celebrities and does it work?
Love the idea about DMs to potential customers but, don't I have to follow them first? It feels too icky to reply to a story of someone I'm not following. But I also don't want to have to follow every potential customer to encourage DMs either. Tricky situation!
Nope - you can reply to their story without following them. They ultimately get to decide whether or not to accept your message request, but you can still start the connection. Just remember to be human and, if possible, provide value in what you write to get the conversation started.

yikes - not a good look!
Don't copy and paste messages, be sure to add value and also, share the wins!!!
I love that you use the 80/20 rule!
I love what you doing, I’ve been finding it very difficult to open a profitable Instagram account…
I really don’t know how too 😞😒

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're liking the videos. My video editor does that - speeds up the clip a bit and then I sound like a chipmunk :)

Hey Janine! Great question. I actually have a video here on how to use Instagram as an artist >> ua-cam.com/video/6AIBJXEGizI/v-deo.html
How would you suggest providing value to my Instagram followers when my business is selling Rosaries and Chaplets?
Is it okay to tag friends that would be interested in what I'm posting about?
