I am 48. Giant Trance 2. Have been biking the North Shore for a year and a half. Solid intermediate biker. And in many ways..... This kid can do more technical terrain than I can. Lol.
Thanks for the comment, views, and subscribe! At only 6 at the time, he had already been mountain biking twice as long as you :) It amazes me what these kids can do, and it's blown my mind at how fast and well they've progressed. I certainly had not expected any of this and am just "rolling" with it and loving it! :)
So great to see!!! Can't believe the 6yo passed on the log ride and the Gangler. What a wuss. Kidding that's me that passes on those, but I have an excuse, I'm old. :-) The little guy doesn't know it's supposed to be hard and just follows the big brother. So cool to see the encouragement to the little guy whether he rides something or goes around it. Also all the bumps and holes on the trail are that much bigger compared to someone riding a 27.5 or 29 wheeled bike. Keep making it fun for both kids and who knows how good they will be in a few years. I'm sure in no time they will be encouraging the old man; look it's easy, just ride / jump it like this ...
Thanks for the comments... BP (big brother, now 10) looked at the log ride last week was tempted since it looks quite doable - definitely quite wide for a skinny and all downhill, but the head game & commitment is tough! And maybe one day they'll try the Gangler. On harder runs like Upper Oilcan, BP (now 10) rides it comfortably while I'm struggling to just keep up!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm living the dream riding with them and - happily and sadly at the same time - will likely always be behind them as the surpass my skills and speed :p
Thanks! It has surprised me how fast these kids progress... well beyond what I imagined possible. I was kinda hoping I'd remain better than them for many years, but Emmy's getting close now that he's 8 years old. His older brother BP, now 10, is already better and faster than me. If I make a mistake, I can't catch up!
Very cool! How much has the trail changed since then? Do you still ride it nowadays? The kids always like figuring out the history of the runs they love, but back then GoPro's or similar weren't that popular so it's not easy to get info.
@@WishfulThinkingVideos I am in Maple Ridge these days so I don't get to ride there as much as I used to. Shame. Yes the trail has changed quite a bit but the line is almost origional. Many good times on that mountain and met dozens of wonderful people while riding up there.
Thank you! I've put all my heart and all my time riding into these kids and it has paid off for both their own skills and enjoyment, and for myself with awesome riding buddies :)
How does a 6 yr old have so much braveness? Im 11 and I am scared of treestumps while out at my local trails (I mean it is my first days and my bike suspension and height s trash soo yeah). Anyway, good job guys!
Born to Ride I guess :p But seriously speaking, I spend a ton of time with them mtn biking since they were on run bikes, so it's their perception of 'normal'. Good luck on developing your skills as you ride more!

So awesome👍 I remember my first ride up there, way back in 2000.
