I can't think of one con with my tapered cut. I wash once a week I restyle once a week and I do my own shape up every two weeks. Best decision I ever made low maintenance indeed. Thanks for sharing keep the barber series coming. I'm learning so much.

I'm so glad that I'm 65 yrs old because I don't fuss with my tapered cut. I spray it with my Curls moisturizer and tie it in a satin scarf at night. In the morning, I just take my wet fingers on my edges and top and hit the road. No fuss, just go. It looks good for almost a week until my next co-wash. But I think that at my age doing a lot of styling is irrelevant. So, I'm pretty satisfied with the cut. I would recommend it to older women who are tired of constantly doing or styling their hair.

@Beatrice Kinsey I’m getting my hair done for my 58th B-D March 4,2021 & do the same as you do. I still work 5 days a week, Spring Summer coming it’s to much & thick .

The "con" about it being high maintenance is exactly why I got my hair cut into a twa a few weeks ago. I decided that I was going to get back into an exercise routine, and the last thing I want to do is deal with hair. My tapered cut was frustrating me (I'd had it for almost 3 years), so I decided to cut it. I love it!

I had a tapered cut but decided to grow it out. Now that I'm going hard with exercising I cut it short. I don't have time to worry about hair. Lol.

I've had a tapered cut before and I'm planning on getting one again, and I don't think it's high maintenance - certainly not more than my long hair currently. When I had a tapered cut I styled my hair once a week and it usually held well; with my long hair I either have to do a mid week style or my hair was going in a ponytail.

Yes, keep the barbershop series coming. It's very informative. The barbers that I have come across are good (3), but getting my idea across to them (even with pics ) is proving difficult. I think they have a vision of how they want my hair to look and aren't really listening to me as the client & seeing my vision.

Barbers style cut differently then woman beauticians. Its so frustrating. I go to barbers and look like a mans cut. Woman a softer womanly cut.

Girl........................This is the BEST review I have seen yet. I love the way you showed in the other videos how to style this cut. I have my hair cut just like this and wanted to know how to straighten it out. I have an inch curling iron but not the flat iron. I also like the way you showed how to do the different twists and knots. Thank you so much

Love your videos, especially the barbershop series. I have a tapered haircut and I live for it. For me, I'm 4a/b and all about the wash+go and I do manage to wake up, fluff with some oil and go. 1 minute and I'm done. My hair is about as long as yours on top and about an inch now on the sides and back. So my hair is super low maintenance and styled. I LOVE when it is coily and voluminous and if need be, I can go about 9 days without a full wash/restyle. So, just wanted to represent for the wash+go peeps. Once you get the process down to a science and have the best products on deck, your gorgeous and good to go. Thanks!

I have a grown out tapered cut .... so it's big on top (crown-front) and graduates shorter and shorter to the back. I've been cutting my hair like this for a while, about three times in a year and a half. The shape of my hair along with my three strand bantu knots always look great, hence why I love my cutting my hair the same way.
Must admit I cut my hair 4-5 wks ago and it was dramatic .... the front is about 7 inches and the back is 3" on the sides and 3.5" in the mid back, it was inspired by your videos and another you-tuber that does only tapered cuts . I watched your for like 3 days straight and I couldn't bring myself to cutting my hair that short so I altered my usual cut. Thanks Miss Ken cauz yah inspire the yutes lol.

I have had a tapered cut three times and this is the third and I agree with everything you said as the Pros and Cons to a cut like this. But it’s so beautiful! I get so many compliments daily on the look, but I’m like you.... it’s maintenance!! Yeah whoever that chic was that said it was easy LIED lol! I love this fro look on your cut :). I swear you have the best tutorials and I’ve been on UA-cam for many years with my own channel. I need to get back to it! You are inspiring me and also to go a little shorter despite that maintaining lol. Love your hair color too! Great videos, keep em coming girl

  • @MissJP21

I love this vid but disagree. Hairstyles are as high maintenance as your mentality or your level of patience and skill. I think it's unrealistic (and not saying you do, MissKenK, but many women do) to seek styles, whether natural, relaxed, long or short, that require NO or even "low" maintenance. The same way you have to take care of your skin, your nails, your teeth or anything that will be with you for the rest of your life is the same way you have to take time and invest in maintaining your hair. I'd say go with what works for your budget, lifestyle, patience meter, and be realistic, invest in clip-ins, hats and scarves and just go with the flow...I stopped obsessing about the line-up, perfect curls and fussing with it. Have fun and go with the flow ladies! xoxo and much love to you MissKenK.

I'm growing my tapered cut out, so the challenge is gripping the sides. I found my long natural hair was easier to style bc it was easier to grab, lol. I could section it away a lot easier. But I do love the tapered cut, even with the difficulty of gripping the sides and back.

My hair now is getting long enough to do some of the things that you do such as the twist out, Bantu knots etc. I did try a tapered cut but I found that it did not suit my facial structure; so right now I’m just going with the round look. +Leena Songstress I have a tapered cut (shaved down on the sides and in the back) and have had it for about 3 months now. I currently wear a wash/shingle and go. It only takes be a mere 15 mins to style and I'm out the door! I don't have to style every day. Maybe every 4 days. I can stretch it 7 days if I spritz with water and tug on it a little to stretch it out. I think there will be pros and cons to any hair length or style you get. It's hair, it will grow back, you really should give it a try! I've cut my hair a lot over the last 20 years of my life, this by far is the flyyyyyyest cut I have EVER had!!!!! :)

I wish I would have seen this before I got my hair cut a year ago. 😂 I hated it until I could put the top in a lil bun. Now I don't like how long it is now.

I have 4C hair so I'm aware I'll be doing twis-touts to get the curly look. I've been using braids for the past year or so.... time for a change
