41% from something that slim is respectable. Apple understood the assignment. And I don’t usually give them praise for all of their accessories. The purpose of on the go wireless chargers like this should be mobility and extension of battery. Not charging your phone fully at the expense of being able to use your phone easily. If you are charging from dead you might as well get a wired battery pack and charge faster and get a full charge that way

One that's probably about the size of the Apple one is "LUCKYDUO Ultra Slim 10000mAh for Magsafe Portable Charger." And for cheaper (but thicker) ones, there's a bunch that appear to be basically the same as "AOGUERBE Magnetic Wireless Portable Charger, 10000mAh Wireless Power Bank "

Great video! Just bought the anker one and am super excited to use it! One thing I will say in defense of apple's battery pack which I've used daily for a couple years now, it's not really designed to charge your phone from dead. It's designed for you to have a fully charged phone and battery pack in the morning, use it all day, and by like 6pm the battery pack is dead and your phone is still at 90%. In that way it's more of a battery extender and when I've used it for that purpose it's been great!

I don’t think this concept makes sense. I had used apple battery pack for about half year. For a normal power bank, you just deplete the battery and then you can use your phone freely the rest of time. For apples battery pack, I will need to attach it to the phone full day because sometimes it will just stopped charging and the rest of time it charges extremely slow. It’s bulky it’s inconvenient it’s just garbage

Here's my thing. These batteries are not designed to take a phone from zero to 100%. These are "top off" tools.
You know you're going to have a heavy use day, so you grab the battery off the charging station and throw it in your bag. As you go along for the day snap it on and top off your phone as the day proceeds.
I have one of the Anker batteries. Once I get to 50% I'll snap it on in my pocket or bag and top off my phone. By 6PM I'm still at 100% battery and that will take me the rest of the day.

I bought 2 of these Anker QI2 portable banks to charge my IPhone 15. After a week of usage on both banks, I would absolutely avoid this wireless bank until they solve the heat issues. It becomes extremely HOT in your pocket after 30-40 mins of charging, I got temp warnings on my iPhone. Ended up returning them, to get the non QI2 wireless banks at 1/4 the cost, runs cooler, and charges more consistently.

Every other review gives glowing reports about the Qi2 (which is great) but says nothing about how the build up of heat slows charging, reduces efficiency, and possibly affects battery life. Can the Anker also act as an extended battery like the Apple one? I charge my iPhone to 90% and use the Apple pack all day, and it gets me 4-5 hours SOT before I even touch the iPhone battery. This has always been the advantage of the Apple pack, yet for some reason, many YT creators are ignorant of this or do not mention it as it is not part of their agenda. Anyway, from past Anker wireless chargers, it does not act as an extended battery, so it is a lot inferior.

    • @ryster2220
      @ryster2220 9 місяців тому +11

I thought the same thing. The Apple battery pack is wonderful when you slap it on when the iPhone is already near 100% to maintain it in the 90% range for several hours.
Every YT channel seems to miss the point.
The Apple battery isn’t really intended to charge the iPhone, (although it certainly can in a pinch) it’s intended to maintain the battery without overheating the iPhone.
This is especially important for the 12/13 mini which overheats very easily with 3rd party wireless chargers

Anything GaN (Gallium Nitride!) is going to be 30 to 60 percent cooler than a Silicone Equivalent as it is more efficient at energy transfer thus much cooler and as a result less wasted power Big Tech is trying to replace Silicone Chips with Gan as a stop Gap until Photonic Chips are as cheap and reliable at least to what we have now but Gallium is much harder to work with at 4NM and smaller so new techniques and possibly new Fab machines need to be developed! Remember Gallium is more a Liquid at most temps above freezing than a solid even holding it will turn it from solid to liquid almost instantly
So in short by Gan Chargers especially Gen II (Better Regulation Chips and heat protections!) also even if charging at 30 to 60 watts use a 100w rated cable at least is not higher (150 or even 200!) as they have better eMarker Chips Basically a Chip that says how much it can handle and how hot it thinks it is, Plus generally more heat dissipation when needed through better materials!
Also use a charger that is higher rated than the device for best energy efficiency few devices ever work best at their max speed for very long so if your phone handles 30w buy a 45w or 68w charger. Also if it has multiple ports don't use them or at the very least not on devices that need more than 1w to 5w to charge (Like Kindles and toothbrushes!)
Good Cables Brands include FasGear, Beasus, UGreen, Cable Creations
Also for Chargers Belkin is not only Reliable and easy to find but have Great Warranties that cover your equipment (Phones/Tablets Laptops etc!) for Damage if they Fail to work Over Voltage, Heat Control, Surge Protection etc etc!
Anker I find hit and miss they are not bad but only become so popular as the CCP backs them so they spend on Ads Big Time
Also if you can find them Aukey use to be a good brand

I got the Anker MagGo 10000. It'a a great battery but still have a lot flaws.
1st it does not fit the 6.1" iPhone 15 Pro, only the Max. The battery is longer than the 15 Pro when mounted on the phone.
2nd is the build quality. The Charging Pad face of the power bank does not stay flat on the phone when charging, the surface has irregularities (bad quality) and the lower part where the second magnet is located has always a 1-2 millimeters raise from the glass back of the phone.
3rd, on the iPhone 15 Pro it starts to charge with 15 Watts but after 30-40 mins goes all the way down to 5-6 Watts (measured on Ampere).

Apple's MagSafe Battery Pack is literally designed to keep your phone between the 40-90% range so as to not overcharge the battery and diminish its life. This also means it's designed to not charge your phone past 90% since getting it all the way up to 100 is not efficient and would result in more heat for less power. The MagSafe Battery Pack is not so much a charger as it is a battery extender, and using it as such just means I don't have to worry about having a wall charger and cable on me. I really hope they bring it back with USB-C 'cause having two would honestly be ideal for my use case.

A decent power bank with a capacity of 10,000mhA has about 60% efficiency if after charging the iPhone 15 with a 3300mhA battery, only 37% of the power remains (3700mhA from 10,000mhA). If we take into account the efficiency of 60%, the real remains capacity after fully charging the iPhone 15 is about 2200mhA (3700 x 0,6) to use again. So tipical powerbank 10000mhA can charge iphone 14/15 about 1,7 times!

Theres a reason why Apple limits the wireless charging to 7.5W - heating.
Past 7.5W, the phone battery will experience high heating that damages the battery. There is a need to prioritize the health of the phone internal battery than how fast it would charge.
This is what people do not understand. The magsafe battery should not be used as "power bamk" but as "battery extender only" attach it to your phone even if its fully charge especially when not in use. If you want fast charging, use cable.

Which is why these "reviewers" dont know what the heck they are talking about. They compare 2 different things and tell you how bad 1 product is because they dont even know how to use it. One is a battery charger and the other is a battery pack. One is meant to charge your phone after you have been using it for a bit and need to charge it up. The other product is a battery pack meant to stay on the phone and be used together with the phone charged together at 100% and from there you go on about your day. I can guarantee you that if you use the Apple battery pack the way its supposed to be used you can use up the whole battery pack and your phone will be well over 50% by the time you get home with over 5 hours of on screen time and your phones internal battery health will suffer less in the long run. The Anker one if used wirelessly will get your phone hotter and will absolutely kill your phones battery over time.

The Anker one is too thick for me. I wish a Qi2 5,000mah SLIM battery pack existed, something like the Anker 621 but can do 15w. Maybe that's asking for a lot.

What’s the point of these though..? If you’re on the go and need a charge, you need the most efficient charge, which would be a battery pack delivering 30 watts via USB C.

    • @glatt1817
      @glatt1817 9 місяців тому

You can plug a short USB C in from most MagSafe battery packs; it just doesn't hang down. For some, the point is that they don't want the hassle of a cord hanging down while they're going about their day (my wife plays music at work and finds it very difficult to have a cord hanging down when she's on her feet).

All portable wireless chargers get too hot for me to like them except for Apple’s. I buy a new phone every 4 years so battery health is pretty important for me. But, I’m not saying I’ll stick with Apple’s charger (no), because it charges the device batteries with too little percentage. So for now, my choice of portable wireless charger is: none ✨

yes, no. i have a 20.000mah samsung 25w powerbank inside my backpack. fully charges my M1 MacBook Pro and charges 5 times my iPhone 13 Pro. with the anker 65w charger, it fully charges the power bank it 2.5h.
oh, and the samsung power bank also fast charges my iPhone. just as fast as the 20w wall brick.
when it comes to emergencies, i always keep the apple battery pack in my jeans. it’s slim, small, barely weighs anything.

NGL... i bought Anker's 622 MagGo 5,000 mAh and size bloat is a real thing. They have a folding stand which is much better.
If I want a battery pack I want it small. Any larger and I'll take a full on non-Magsafe battery pack
People make fun of the Apple battery pack for being overrated... but it fits a niche quite well. If you're running your phone until it's dead... you need a different solution. The lightweight apple battery pack is for topping up and getting you out of a bind.

I have an Apple’s battery pack and can’t say that I’m very happy with it. The technology leaves much to be desired. The main problem as you said is overheating. Maybe my IPhone 12’s battery is not ok, but when it’s above 30 degrees Celsius outside this thing just doesn’t work. After 15 minutes it overheats and the charging stops. Don’t think that I’ve got a fake battery pack, I’m sure it’s an original one. To add to this - Apple’s battery pack can hardly charge the phone when you’re using it, even not very hard. It charges really fast only when the weather is cold, frosty. Conclusion - it’s not a powerbank, it’s a battery extender designed to be worn during all day on the back of your phone.

MagSafe is not a charger !!
You put it on your phone when both battery pack and phone are 100% charged……. After using your phone the MagSafe battery pack discharges first, then you remove it and use your phone with still 90% battery.
Again MagSafe is not a charger to put on your phone after your phone Is going flat !!!!
All you guys comparing these products when you don’t know what the MagSafe actually is…… comparing 🍎 & 🍊’s
