Aside from the virtuoso Romane and his amazing group, the rhythm guitar has red socks and that is amazing!

BRAVO! The soloist even looks like Django.
And to think that Django had played like this with only two fingers on his left hand (having lost the other two in a fire...)
    Still - beautifully done! BRAVO!

I've been playing this song for like 7 fkn years now, I built up a lot of bad habits but now I'm learning it slowly from the ground up. I can do 75% speed easily and 90% speed pretty well but that last ten percent is a bitch! Gonna keep at it until I can do it.

@GassyCoke I just purchased Michael Horowitz Gypsy Rhythm. I've always loved Gypsy comping behind and soloist, and so I do like this book. It's just really expesive it was $65. One thing that I loved L' Espirit Manouche is the diagram on playing one kind of arpeggio from the first fret up to the 12. If you can do that alone you will be well off. If you have a good grasp on music theory you can fill in the holes.

@sinisterdanny Yeah i've been learning in a very enjoyable way with Romane's book, M.H Gypsy Picking and transcribing Django & other great manouche players.
So far i think thats the best way to learn: transcribing.
One thing i didn't really like about L'Esprit Manouche is that it has only Romane's songs, and he is one of my favorites but i'd like it more if it had some of Djangos tunes too, but hey, thats what transcribing is for.

illnastic: There are several books out there. I recommend videos first as there are some picking techniques that are really hard to describe in words. Denis Chang has good videos on this, and I believe that this video also came from Romane's instructional video. There are several youtube videos that could help you as well, but you really have to stick to the "authentic" ones and not imitators in order to learn the proper techniques.

    Great! Magnificent Romane.
Can anyone give me the substitute chords being played here for bars 9 through 12 (2nd ending resolution) of the 2nd verse? substitutions for Am / Am - Em/ Em part before F#7/B7/ Em resolution.
    Much appreciated!

Just go to ebay.com and search "Romane L'esprit manouche" and there you go, lots of sellers and different prices the cheaper are like $17 the most expensive ones are like $35, they are the same book, just different sellers.
    Hope that helps ; )
