    The Oz Roosevelts in MagnaCut were initially run a bit softer. I DM'd him and told him the merits of running it a little harder, especially on a thin and slicey knife model like the Roosevelt. He immediately said he would up the hardness as soon as he was able to (which was dependent on his equipment at the time). Previously he was outsourcing grinding and Larkins Precision (who does Hinderers and others' blade grinding) would not grind anything over 62 HRC. As soon as he moved to in-house grinding and was able to grind harder blades he upped the hardness to the awesome end result it's at today.

    Best knife I ever owned. Bought 3! Recently just won last weeks lotto and got a radial milled one. Fantastic buying experience from Oz. They offered to ship it overnight to Canada at my risk or even send to a proxy if I had one. Truly these folks understand the knife industry and the struggles some of us have to deal with because of location. Even on the secondary market they are worth it. Prices are starting to fall a bit on secondary which is great news. This can be your one and only edc.

    One of the best looking folding knives on the market today. The only enthusiasts who don’t have the Roosevelt in their grail list are the ones who already have one. Such a sick knife. I saved this video for the evening just so I could give this knife my undivided attention lol.

    Upon watching this review, I immediately grabbed my Quiet Carry Drift with knurled titanium scales and am struck by how similar the designs are. Not copies, just very similar vibes and almost identical blade shapes (differences: vanax steel instead of magacut, washers instead of bearings, thumb studs instead of hole, wire clip, internal lock bar relief, knurl pattern). Anyone who can't afford this one (and doesn't care about the midtech, USA build) should check that one out.

    • @highwindsedc
      @highwindsedc Рік тому +2

      I had the opportunity to get my hands on both a week apart from each other and it is uncanny how well they match up. However the edge of the magnacut can take a much keener edge.

    • @jonathanklein7875
      @jonathanklein7875 Рік тому +1

      @Highwinds EDC I've got no complaints about the Vanax. According to Knife Steel Nerds, Vanax beats Magnacut for both edge retention and corrosion resistance at the expense of toughness, a compromise I'll definitely take for a light duty EDC.

Granted, you did say it’ll be in the next “Favorite Knives Of All Time” video, which is much greater praise coming from you. Personally, I feel this company/knife is in the same league as Brown, Shirogorov, CKF, Christensen Knives, Koenig, Sandrin, and the FEW others in that realm. Great vid!!

    The knife is cool. The more I see it the more it grows on me. In my opinion Olamic Cutlery is a more affordable brand. With Olamic you get a lot of customization at an affordable price. And Olamic is more available. I believe that “small batch” is an excuse to charge a high. Certain makers started the trend of making knives in small batches and now everyone does it. The Rosie is a cool knife. I would like to own one right after a Shirogorov F3.

    I love this design, but I have to wonder why the flex pocket on the frame lock bar is rarely milled on the INSIDE. Why have that darn pocket snagger when it is literally just as easy to mill the other side?

    • @qdp03
      @qdp03 Рік тому

      Can't speak for OZ but one reason why makers choose to have it on the outside is it directs any stress from the tang onto the lock bar in a straighter line and thus less likely to fail than if the stress were to be redirected to the outside of the frame where there would be more leverage for the lock bar to flex.

    I wouldn't buy this knife for one reason and one reason only...and it's the lock bar relief why do knife makers still do that relief cut on the outside instead of the inside to me it's not user friendly, and easily remedied. Do you agree or disagree? I've had way too many instances of the knife hanging up going in or out of pocket which makes it annoying not to mention the extra wear and tear on my jeans. One minor quip is the gimping should extend out to the end of the opening hole. Change these 2 things and the knife would be close to perfection.

I'll probably keep trying. Kinda like Grismo knives out of Canada. All in-house production. I got lucky and got there Norsman. Very odd blade shape, but that's part of why I like it. Totally different from anything anyone else is making. I think the detent is too light. Drops like a guillotine but bounces. I like the fast drop but that bounce isn't a bonus.
