I remember the moment in 2005 I stood in awe at the sight of the Stormwind statues when I walked in, as a lv5 human paladin who didn't know shit, hearing this epic music and that feeling is undescribable... just wow
*entertainment, in general, I think And fun. After all, the psychology and mentality of ppl changed on top (and because) of the rest downward spirals/vicious cycles/dead ends/self-inflicted prophecies that got heavier in time... People usually talk so much about nostalgia's lens, but they ignore many other factors. Conveniently in a sense, because some of them have to do with their own choices and mistakes.
I do, and I remember I didn't know how to open the Map. So I went to the dwarven district, to the auctionhouse, to the mage quarter, back to the dwarven disctrict right through cathedral district, then I went to where the PvP Vendor used to be, then I asked someone in chat if he/she can guide me out of Stormwind :D
My wife and I play vanilla WoW on Lights Hope (formerly Elysium). She's a physician in her 30's and I'm a business owner in my early 40's. Been playing WoW since February 2006. WoW is timeless and much more than a video game. It's a pleasant escape from a restrictive, overpopulated, grossly immoral, and often depressing world. We're thankful for it and we enjoy it every night together instead of rotting our minds and souls with television.
You guys...💚 I hope you're still having some good time and can enjoy your favorite good things, even though almost everything seems to be getting increasingly bleak yet again... I'll avoid my analytical comments and only add 'unforgiving' and 'self-destructive' and 'immature' and 'greedy' to that description (yes, most of these refer to humankind, but not only). We need more kindness and still choose more of the opposite of this. WoW has always been helping me notice such things, too. Certainly much more than a (great, huge) game.
actually being brought to tears right now. WoW is just the best thing that has happened to me. The old stuff man, the fantasy and clunky 2000s design just added to the magic to my inexperienced noob brain back then. Oh how i would wish to play wow like ive never seen it before again
I remember taking a quest in Stormwind with my very first toon that sent me all the way to Stonetalon Mountains. I remember traveling all the way there on horse It was the first time going to Kalimdor. Those quests that sent you to the other end of the world before Cataclysm.
I'm Horde, always hated the Alliance, however I can't help but recognise the beauty of this music and I can empathise with the feeling of nostalgia from Alliance players. Lok'tar, warriors of both sides!
brav0wing I main Alliance and I honestly could not care less about the Horde Alliance beef, I have toons on both factions. I really don't understand why some people actually hate the opposing faction.
+Jorick12 not everyone hates the opposing faction :D there s a time, a horde toon and i helped each other. we met hellfire peninsula at the area with the arakkoa ... we helped each other fighting and talked with emotes :D it was a funny day :D
coolcasis Of course, I also helped and was helped by Alliance players, however, in WoD, the alliance players went on Blood Lust when they met Horde players, at least on my server, they went nuts.
brav0wing on one server its alliance on another server its horde ... i once was on a server, you wouldnt believe me, i went outside of blackrock foundry, i saw 40-60 horde players ... i thought i would die ... but they just ignored me ... my raidlead said, that there are so few alliance-players on that server, that horde cares about them :D
+brav0wing as a horde, I tried to sneak into Stormwind with a friend when we were bored back in classic. It was so funny and the stormwind soundtrack made it perfect!
7:41 imagine seeing thousands of alliance soldiers lined on both sides of a long carpet while saluting King Varian wrynn as he walks down out of the castle heading for war.
this music + the ambience sounds of the city when you are ingame = fucking epic. numerous nights and gatherings in and around the auction house, the big clock ringing, mounts screaming, npc's running around, the sound when you buy and sell stuff, stand around and hammer on the anvil, fiddle with your hands to make cloth or all the other things. that time when dawn is rolling in after a long night and it's already getting bright outside in real life. when barely anyone is around, but people start waking up,drinking coffee and chatting. no game can ever give this to me again. it's just a small part of the game, but it holds so much.
My experience discovering Stormwind was taking the tram from Ironforge during the night. It looked so much bigger because I could see so much less and it was my first time seeing NPCs walking around with lanterns. Since this was in Wrath, IF was now ghost town when I walked through it but SW had such a large and varied population of players. and now It was really cool when I left through the front and realized that it was an entire other zone appropriate for my level.
1:07 When the nostalgia slams into you like a truck. God I wish I could go back to relive those first days of being a WoW newb. Cue heavy, sad sigh............. #ForTheAlliance
I've always been Horde4life, but I still remember the very first time entering Stormwind and getting a shiver down my spine when the SW track starts. It was a legendary feeling I've never felt from this game since.
When I ran through stormwind for the first time the music fit so perfectly making it one of the best experiences in this game. It all started with this awesome opening starting 0:00 before the mighty statues. Then 0:47 I make my way along the heavily guarded entrance. 1:07 I arrive in the middle of the trade district and suddenly realize how many freaking people were playing wow. This blew my fucking mind. I kept exploring the city and walked by the river 2:08. Then suddenly while I was walking into another district this mysterious music 2:20 began to play and i wondered how many awesome things, places, quests there would be in this huge city. 3:20 again speechless arriving in front of the castle while this masterpiece plays and fits again perfectly. Good old times.
WOW the game itself is like a movie. There will be many sequels but never anything like the original WOW. That's the kind of nostalgia you'll always remember even after you've stopped playing WOW
Yeah it is. I get a burning temptation to resub to WoW every time I stop playing for a bit, all thanks to the nostalgia. This game was and still is the best.
My first experience with a city was Stormwind. Walked in as a noob level 8 warlock for a quest, was amazed at how big it looked and how full of people it was.
I joined the WoW community two months ago, after years of swearing that I won't play this game, because I knew how much of a time-consuming game it is. Yet, I played it, thanks to the codes for free trial from Warcraft movie. I have no regrets. Even though I'm a Horde player at heart, I respect the Alliance. You guys have a really epic theme for your capital :)
When you walked into Stormwind or Ironforge for the first time and this music started playing...your life changed forever. It wasn't like anything else, anyone had ever seen before. I have always been horde and I don't even play anymore but I will always remember my first time feeling this. Horde cities didn't compare.
One of my favorite places in the game. I love coming here whenever I need gear or just stay here to chill. I also love stopping by to chat to King Varian Wrynn. Stormwind forever!
Stormwind is the heart of the alliance. Used to be here all the time (as probably all of the alliance players). Used to hear these tunes all the time, and I never get tired of hearing them. So many memories, Usually of coming here after levelling up my char, then upskilling my professions, checking the AH, selling any crap that I had got from mobs, repairing armour, and then preparing for departing back to do some more questing.
When I recall what it was like to come into SW for the first time, not knowing a lot about the mmorpgs and wow... and getting hit by this as I entered the town and ran across the bridge... I doubt anything will ever beat that feeling...
I remember always being curious as to what my dad was playing. One day he let me get on the computer and when he gave me the headphones, used a flight pad to Stormwind, showed me around on his Hunter… so amazing
to make me realize that this is actually a legitimate thing, for someone to remember vanilla wow as a game their parents played when they were a kid. you made me feel an elderly, thanks.
I quit WoW quite a bit ago. Cataclysm already didn't feel "right". But everytime I hear a song from vanilla, I wish I could travel back in time. It was great. It... I can't explain it.
God I remember arriving with my worgen character for the first time, bsck then my potato machine didn’t run the game fast but the music was always perfect I hope to go back this year with my new computer, experiance it all again, I’m gonna slowly walk up the harbour stairs, through catch district all the way to the castle
I started playing WoW late 2009 (WoTLK). I started as an Orc Warlock lol! Of course I didn’t know how to play warlock as it’s not an easy character to start with, so I changed to Gnome DK (lol always bad race choices). That Gnome was my only Alliance chacter in WoW, I’ve always been a Horde because all my friends are Horde. I used to play for like 8 months or a year and take a break for a year or even more. Every time I say (this is it, no more WoW, I’ve got an MBA and a high salary job so I shouldn’t have enough time for WoW). BUT, the first peace of music in this video (i.e SW City theme music) always hit my feelings and memories so hard so I get back and renew my subscription. I’m a shit player, my best PVP rating ever was 1.7k, but I developed a lot of feelings with that music, got me so attached. Now, I’ve quit WoW 2 years ago and I’m here to listen to that music, what do you think my next step is? Lol. Let’s go babe. LF 2v2
It was 2005-6, my old paladin FurbyFighter roaming around this glorious place. Being in awe of the high level mounts and shops and world brought to life. The statues, the castle..jeez nothing like that feeling.
First time as a NELF in SW and this music starts ...man i thought i was in real city of knights and honor...i was feeling the eyes of humans looking at me saying what is this strange creature doing here..and people out of subway screaming go back to your home nelf you came here to take our jobs and quests?
1:09 reminds me of the first time I ever saw a level 60 player. Decked out in Epic gear, Rank 14 Grand Marshal. I remember his name, too. It was the dumbest possible name. Grand Marshal Nohealz4u
Jesus christ even though I started on Horde in Vanilla and never played Alli till BC the choir in the start made walking up that bridge a special memory for me. Give me back pre-Cata WoW please. T_T
At least half of my game time was spent in this city because back then, leveling sucked. I remember when I got underneath stormwind and didn't get forced out by a gm. I had to hearth out. Good times.
My favorite alliance character is the worgen also the storyline is soo good its like based on the 1800's and horror books also began in the 1800's in 1816 the very first Frankenstein book was released, it was march 11th,1816
I joined wow at age 13, the Music of Stormwind, going in there the first time as Gerrik, It was so different, I had played EQ before but this... it was beautiful
BruskarDK, you're right. It is unforgettable. A wonderful city full of memories and with other players. At the Alliance and its music places UNFORGETTABLE. For the Alliance!
i remember in 2005 i used to beg people for silvers ( pls dont judge me xD) as a level 7 human warrior. Then someone gave me 10 gold, i almost had a heart attack! i fucking screamed so loud that neighbours thought someone is dying
I still remember the days when a Horde player was not immediately pvp-flagged when he entered the other factions capital. I remember the days when my friends and I just sat there with our Horde chars, fishing side by side with gnomes in the Canal district... good times...
Even though I'm Horde I miss the old SW because I used to play a human I was only like 8 years old back then (15 now and currently playing a Blood Elf) so I wouldn't do quests I'd just run around SW since I didn't know what to do and I remember this music... It was magical. WoW will never be the same especially since the next expansion is going to have ugly panda bears! >.
@shinyztar6 the game changed whether you get the expansions or not, vanilla wow disappeared completely after cataclysm came out. but I think they game changed forever after Wotlk came out, we still had the old zones at that time but not revamped. I still enjoy playing WoW nonetheless.

This epic piece of music really sold me to WoW way back in the beta. I walked toward stormwind and this thing hit... Holy Shit!
I still remember the days when a Horde player was not immediately pvp-flagged when he entered the other factions capital. I remember the days when my friends and I just sat there with our Horde chars, fishing side by side with gnomes in the Canal district... good times...
I adore the music in this place! Filled with goodness and light! Hope =D
7:42, man, always nail it
As a Night Elf Priest, I once married a couple at Stormwind's Cathedral back in 2010... It was fun xD
Even though I'm Horde I miss the old SW because I used to play a human I was only like 8 years old back then (15 now and currently playing a Blood Elf) so I wouldn't do quests I'd just run around SW since I didn't know what to do and I remember this music... It was magical. WoW will never be the same especially since the next expansion is going to have ugly panda bears! >.
Damn now you are 22
Bois, we are home.
Go with honor
so many memories....
All is canal say is FOR THE ALLIANCE !

You don't really know how awesome this music theme is until you kill Varian while hearing it.
Just
EPIC
You most likely didnt cuz u suck xD
I made it to 85 on both sides with Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Draenei, Worgen, Tauren, Troll, Undead, and Deathknight, I've quit now, but I like both sides.
it was on the radio today Oo
Hearing this music play when I made Uthar the human rogue got me so ready to bring glory to the Alliance!
The description made my day.
@shinyztar6 the game changed whether you get the expansions or not, vanilla wow disappeared completely after cataclysm came out. but I think they game changed forever after Wotlk came out, we still had the old zones at that time but not revamped. I still enjoy playing WoW nonetheless.
At 7:42 I always think they're going to say "FOR HE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW"
there is around 12mil people can tell you where you are to this music = epic lol
