Weird to think that if people like this didn't exist, this music may be lost to time due to releasing before the internet became the mainstream way of sharing music.
thankfully we have people like this it seems :)

Nah. The Jungle/DnB scene has always had strong ties to it's history.

I don't even know exactly why, but I never get bored with the sound of oldschool d'n'b.

Or techno or house in my case.. all of these are the best around 00's, what is now considered to be techno is utterly boring to me, it has no energy, no soul

This type of music is the most relaxing music there is. All that a person needs to do is put their head back and close their eyes and be taken to a far off place where everything is cool and you can stay as long as you like. So may fellow travelers hang in there and be safe.
Have a wonderful journey aswell mr Becker

It's funny how these renders would probably be considered trash creation of a complete beginner today.

Drum n bass is beautiful music.
Ho. Ly. Shit.
Despite not living through the '90s (was born in 2003), this transported me STRAIGHT back to being 4 or 5 years old. We had Windows XP at the time, and I remember absolutely LOVING the LEGO Rock Raiders game we had on CD. That and the Sonic R PC Port were my favorites (and Sonic R isn't even considered good nowadays!).
Thanks for the music (and the memories)!
The 1990s.
I was in my 20s.
9/11 was the end.
Sorry bro.
Sonic R is saved by its soundtrack
It's an absolute tragedy the label that owns this went down and we will never see this re-released on other platforms. What a work of art!

I notice a lot of turn-of-the-century type of work seemed to share this "expansive synth" feel. The album reminds me a lot of Sim City 3000's tracks.

@@thebricktop when i was you i spent hours on hours making continenta in sc4
SimCity 3000? Really? There wasn't really any d'n'b in SimCity 3000. To me, that soundtrack is more organic, jazzy and minimal in comparison.
This is just really incredible. A bunch of these images radiate my childhood memories; I picture myself watching my older brother and cousin play Halo at 1am on New Years, I remember the computer generated images in my encyclopedia of landscapes and dinosaurs, and I think of all the crappy 2000's-futurism themed music videos for popular songs at the time with their shiny silver makeup and outifts, wacky, low-res visuals in the background of aliens dancing or spaceships flying.
Those early years of the internet saw huge innovation in technology and connectivity, and I feel like that really unique atmosphere gave birth to ideas, themes, and styles that you just don't see today. A truly fantastic time. But a time that we can only return to through music and visuals like these.
Halo is back baby
Feel this too much. The whole low res visuals and 3d graphics at that time appeared so cool and futuristic to me as a child, I was just in awe. I still remember the feeling but cannot describe it. If you wanna get real nostalgic, check this out: ua-cam.com/video/cmE4IWPaULE/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DigitalGuru

Yeas, golden years indeed.
These sounds feel like falling in love, nostalgia, deja vu, and transcending out this world into another dimension - including passing on -... all at once. My most favourite kind of music.
You couldn't say it better, dude
Really good sum up. To me it feels like the soundtrack of an alternative childhood in the 90s
Exactly!
I thought about how it sounded like deja vu, then I scrolled 20 minutes later to read more comments and saw yours. 100% agree!
When those rolling, high-pass filtered, lush chords start at around 1:50, I always get goosebumps. One of the few set lists I will listen to entirely.
this is the kind of mix we would come across trading tapes with people from out of state.
The 90s......what a time to be alive. Music came alive back then and put the hairs on my neck up. I can't remember the last time that happened.
Most of my personal friends have various music tastes but none of them seem capture the same feeling I do when I listen to music such as this. Probably the same goes for a lot of people invested in their own music selection. I love all genres (rock, metal, electro, house, reggae, etc) but this seems to take me to a place where it feels like I’ve been before and never been before. A strange feeling filled with nostalgia. I can’t get enough of it. It’s honestly like a drug... music is the drug
All I ever do is piss people off with most of my music tastes. Only the most shallow stuff is where common ground is found and even then not always.
Totally get that emotion. Soul Capsule Lady Science honestly used to transport me to dreams of another life I feel like I've lived. so amazing and deeply sad at the same time
I randomly got recommended these videos. And let me tell you I will work the rest of my life to make something this immersive. Jesus Christ.
Yeah bruh. I also like so many different generes. I reckon that only to some extent unique people can feel this vibe
@@cneillinson_ same same, but I got inspired from AL-90. listen to this music if you haven't heard it before
This is literally my childhood in a flash, over 20 years , starting up that windows 98 computer and running Myst, sitting down to build that Lego System construction set. This song is nostalgia, longing, mysticism , the very concept of living and the concept of time everything in a tight package
Oh man I'm someone who listened to this for the first time like a year ago and I get those same feelings even without having listened to it before to associate it with nostalgia, this music is really cool... You can feel the optimism
It reminds me of Outpost 2 on Windows 95. Remember that game?
Underrated post.
The imaginary landscapes combined with the otherworldly feel of of the synths and breaks is such a trip. The video really does the description justice.
Keep coming back to this..
This music sounds like the perfect music to solder to. I remember how cool it was listening to this while modding my Gamecube with LED lights, GCLoader, and a better fan... So relaxing. Even after exhausting nights of coming back from work late, having these little projects to do once I got back felt accomplishing.
Same happened to me! One year ago I built a whole modular synth from pretty much zero as my final degree project. I built most of the circuits and soldered all the PCBs while listening to stuff like this :-)
@ I just got done wrapping up all the files for my Dreamcast's GDEMU after an ever more difficult console project of installing the DCDigital and re-capping the power unit. It was expensive. It was worrisome. But I did it. My work wasn't completely pretty... but with a new proper soldering station, general equipment that I needed, and a very handy magnifying glass, I managed to install everything correctly with only a few bumps along the way!
Coming back to this song gave me all the hope and determination I needed... Never give up what you love!
This is pretty much the pinnacle of Intelligent ''Stratospheric'' DnB! Simon and Dave outdone themselves on this one! It's a shame that Phatt Phunk neglected that release. There were supposed to be a 3 x LP coming. But unfortunately, nothing came out of it. There were only a couple of extremely rare Test-Presses seen in the wild back in the early 2000's. I would LOVE to see this re-released at least as a Digital LP. Vinyl would be even better! Please Phatt Phunk, make it happen!!!!
I was just about to comment on this. Just been searching around to buy these tracks individually and they simply don't exist... What a shame.
@@philadams9254 Indeed. I've contacted Simon about it. Maybe he knows what happened to it. I really hope he could buy out the licence to the tracks from Phatt Phunk Recs and put it on his Stasis Recs Label.
@@tripnotix Any update on this mate? I would definitely support it if it ever did get release on his own label.

This is the classic old schol Drum and Bass. It used to be called atmospheric or Intelligent Drum & Bass back in the 90's or early to mid 2000's. Photek, Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, Bailey, Future Sound Of London, Doc Scott, Paradox, Seba, Fanu .. and every artist on this channel were the champions of this sound and are still my favourites
Man this sound takes me back. 16 years old, had just got my first car, listening to Bukem mixes while driving around and felt like I was in a spaceship.
I didn’t get to hear a lot of atmospheric stuff by people outside of GLR back then b/c we didn’t get much dnb in my town; thanks for posting this!
I can feel this comment
This is the mix that got me into atmospheric DnB when YT recommended it to me a little over two years ago. Now I have a solid collection of old school Jungle and DnB mixes/singles from GLR, Moving Shadow, !K7, Higher Limits, etc. Big Bud and Aural Imbalance remain my absolute favorites. Seems like there is always a new track or banger mix to snatch up I didn't know about before, and some of the stuff I've imported isn't even on YT let alone streaming services, so it's awesome to be able to discover new tracks like back in the day before the mainstream internet. I love throwing a CD on the Hi-Fi at night and letting my worries wash away. This music has even led me to other new genres I hadn't listened to before, primarily actual Jazz music which I'm loving as well. Thanks forever to Ambiance for these uploads and inspiring me to completely shift my music taste to something completely new and fresh. Hope this one gets a re-release someday.
recommend something plz
@@jabransaeed6155 Wow, where to begin! If you like this sound, Aural Imbalance has another mix CD that is not nearly as good but pretty close called Different Perspective. To name a few mixes you might enjoy: Storm from the East (Vol. 1 and 2), Trans-Central Connection, Roller Coaster III / Late Night Expressions, Liquid Funk by Fabio, and of course Logical Progression. Studio albums I'd recommend are Infinity + Infinity and Late Night Blues by Big Bud, Beyond by Minus 8, and the Producer albums from PFM, Blu Mar Ten, Seba, Tayla, and LTJ Bukem. You could also try any of the Logical Progressions (different from the original Logical Progression) or the 5 Looking Back mix CDs that Good Looking Records put out. Feel free to reply with what you enjoy most and I can make additional recommendations based off that. All of the albums I mentioned should be available on UA-cam.

To me jungle seems more drum/amen focused but dnb is more dynamic and there is more variety. Jungle seems more about complex fx and rhythms but dnb is more consistent drum patterns.

I first discovered this mix back home a few years ago when I had a friend introduce me to jungle. I am a drummer so naturally, I fell in love with the genre and break music in general. When I started really digging I discovered intelligent drum n bass and that’s when I really fell in love. I’ll never forget when I first discovered this mix, sitting in my apartment with my headphones on and just dropped my jaw and was entranced when the second track came on. Almost 4 years later and I still come back to this mix regularly, I play it at the coffee shop I work at sometimes and am always sharing it with my friends. I love all music from jazz to metal and everything in between. But drum n bass will always be my #1 at least for as far as I can tell, and this mix is absolutely perfect imo
I live in Chicago and whenever I go for a long bike ride I put my headphones in and just cruise. Always gives me goosebumps and it’s like a little speed boost every time I put this mix on.
