It’s interesting that you bring up Walden Pond.. and Thoreau .. when I was a kid we went to visit his cabin on Walden Pond .. we hiked around the woods that he lived in. Later in life as a adult I went back and fished for trout in this pond .. stocked by the State of Massachusetts. Our American culture is driven towards wealth = success = our legacy .. ego is also linked to how we view our own self worth. Your in the right direction my friend! After having 2 major spine surgeries, and not knowing if I’d ever walk again has changed my view on life forever. Thankful I can still hike, and camp at the age of 58 .. money, fame, and materialism can leave one feeling empty .. There is a lot of truth to the saying “someone is the happiest when helping others” The legacy of private landowners donating big tracts of their land for the public to use forever has always made me smile!

Hi Todd. Thanks for sharing this story. I think it is often the things that seemingly set us back that launch us forward. We just don't see it at the time. I think the west needs more ranchers to donate land to the public. Where we live, there are fences everywhere now days. I am glad to hear you are healthy enough to still enjoy the outdoors.

Happy Birthday I'm on the 9th. Cliche to say but true to say that the universe brings like minded minds together. Couple years ago I asked myself. what legacy means to me? and being a father of 3 boys what legacy I want to leave them with. I believe that us as men have a duty to leave a legacy behind. Love this video, deep and genuinely meaningful.

I truly enjoyed this video and the ideas and thoughts you shared. My little brain will be busy digesting it all!😜I’m aware of the struggles you are currently going through…and my only advice, simple as it is, is to be true to yourself and to be confident in the decisions you make.
Enjoy this birthday season and your time away. With you, Heather, and I all being WI transplants, I realize how important that time “back home” can be to enjoy family, friends, environment, and groundedness. Take care always and Happy Birthday 🎉

Outstanding Video ~ 15 minutes is your sweet spot ~ Well done my friend! I'm 71 years old and spent my life interviewing people 10 years older than me what they learned and what is there legacy. Very interesting responses I've received by decade. Happy Birthday ~ Keep doing what your doing ~ You are no doubt on the right track!

Happy Birthday to you and your mom. My youngest son and I are the same way, birthdays in the same week. Not much has changed down here concerning the burned areas. I am learning that the forest is still beautiful even though it has burned, I still love going to forest. I'm also learning that when a flashflood goes thru, the changes that it makes will stay around for a long time and that is the way the forest and mountains are. The elk have returned. We haven't seen them since the fire but we saw them last night. So they must be coming down from the mountains. We look for the elk all the time. They were crossing the road in front of us. We rolled down our windows and listened to them. It was getting dark and hard to see but it must have been a big herd of them.

We've not seen any up here in a bit (around our house that is). But, when they are up here, they are here in the hundreds! Thank you for the bday wishes!

@@4XPEDITION We saw some elk with big antlers where we go get firewood in the National Forest. They are letting people into 3 roads now to get firewood. There is a real crazy family. They don't want people using their road into the National Forest. The last time we went to get firewood this lady in a car yelled at us. She was blowing her horn behind us. She told us that when we get in the National Forest she was going to park her car across the gate so we couldn't get out and she was going to call the cops. We have a right to use that road so we just went on into the forest and when we left she wasn't there. Her and her husband are crazy!!! This is a new place for us to get firewood, the place we usually go is still closed. All the roads near to us that go into the National Forest are still closed.

    Hello Scott,
Pretty ironic that I mentioned purchasing your book “Rediscovering Your Divine Music” in the comments of your previous video I watched and then you speak of it in this video. Guess it was meant to be…
I wonder what kind of a legacy I’ll be leaving behind. I’m a photographer so there are a lot of pretty images. I’ve never had any children of my own so that’s out, guess I’ll have to do some thinking on the subject now that you’ve got me thinking…
What part of Wisconsin are you headed to, I was born there a long time ago…
Again I really like this series

The book was written over 11 years ago, now, so some of my philosophies have changed or have been let go of. So, take it for what it was when I wrote it at the time. The overall message still stands. I would love to hear where your contemplations have taken you with regard to Legacy. I was born in Oshkosh and grew up in La Crosse and spent my summers in Door County.

Have you heard about a new social platform called Ganjing World (Clean World)? I have signed up and love it for its security and cleanliness. It is a "clean world" platform of knowledge and information free of corruptible and provocative content. Besides that, it gathers clean and wholesome information about the world in one place so that the viewers can enjoy the knowledge and richness of this world.
