Sunday, September 29th, 2013 - a perfect day for an outdoor Feelies show. This was recorded at the Hoboken Art & Music Festival...where the band gave a classic performance of Slipping (Into Something).

The Feelies, a band inspired mainly by Velvet Underground and to some extent by Beatles,Kinks & Stones started a new genre way back in late 70s that came to be known as Alternative rock a decade later .They were the first to use furious guitar strumming , frenzied percussion and the ringing guitar which is also the trademark of another great late 70s band-Television. Many alternative bands -REM, Ye Lo Tengo, The Smiths etc were influenced by the Feelies

My wife and I were at the Westhampton show as well, front row. I was a huge Feelies fan in '89-90. That show was better than ever! Hard to believe there were only about 50 of us there to enjoy it.

Not an accident given the influences. I dont hear it as much but definite velvet underground vibe. His voice is deeper and less annunciation than Lou Reed, don't you think?
