Thank you a lot for this informative lesson. Mind you helping figure out how I could combine the following clauses. It is worth mentioning that each clause has a unique subject. In the examples you provided here, all the sentences include only one subject, which is easy to do.
The weather was bad. Mounia went to work.
In spite of.......
