A clock is a rather complicated object.
It measures length, as would a stick on the ground.
How then to ignore the beauty of something whos simple role requires a minimum of well-machined parts, a ruler which an artisan might exhaust their entire life to perfect and still be off by that ever-infinitesimally-slim margin, it is a crime which I could never fathom to do.
A stick will not shrink over the course of measuring a pyramid. It will not lengthen as you shake it about. With no thought to its design, it is consistant.
A heated clock might be slow. Gravity could make it be fast. Magnetism could disable this ruler entirely. These forces, which you cannot see, can all disrupt a measuring tool's capacity to perform its singular function, and yet a well machined clock persists. Truly, it is the tale of a knight who faced a dragon new every day, every hour, every second of his life...
      and emerged, always, victorious.

We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. Or perhaps we've just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we've barely begun. And that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.

Not gonna lie, everyone who writes all these beautiful lines into the comments make me tear up. I always found the gentle ticking so soothing even though time ticks life away. Time is a curse, yet so beautiful. The time of our lives runs out and the only way to keep track of it, is to have a look at a clock. A mechanical device with beautiful details and its insane precision that shows us how the time runs out of our lives.

A bit of an adventure: You are walking through a dense forest, the sun barely touches your skin. You suddenly hear the distant ticking of clocks and movement of gears. You investigate and emerge to an open field. Two one eyed machines the size of skyscrapers are buried in a nearby cliff, yet ahead of you, you see a spherical head, no life left in its only eye. Suddenly, the eye glows a brilliant yellow, as the ticking grows louder. The figure's clockwork arm rises from the earth. The machine is getting up. Gears clicked and circuits connected, until finally, a rust covered clockwork machine, the size of the other two robots, was awake.
That's just what I pictured when listening to this.

This is my first song I heard from you and I’ve been playing it over and over because it has a good beat and rhythm to it, the winding and of the clock and each instrument complimented each other in a harmonious way. I love orchestral music and this one is no different, but it does stand out as being a steampunk themed song and I played it while my family were having family bonding time and they dug it, both my parents loved the sympathy of instruments coming together and creating a very good steampunk feel to it, so you earned yourself a fan. This is awesome! This is one of many reasons why clockwork and steampunk is amazing: they can actually be used in sick beats!

It got scary when the clock stopped and then it felt like it was moving backwards for some reason. Time is turning back. As if the person holding the watch got back to the first scene we saw them and had the chance to redo everything differently. Amazing job Sir

This reminds me of my oc who is the personification of time, and has had to witness all of the awful things that happened in history (and so, so much more.) He was trapped in a galactic void for almost colliding two universes together (which I made the reason why the Mandela effect exists lmao) He was in the void for about 18 years, and his perception of time was shifted to a normal human’s perception of time, making him insane in certain aspects. (There’s more lore and stuff, if anyone wants to hear it.)
(Edit: He also uses his pocket watch as a weapon, which seems odd, but it’s kind of like a yo-yo.)

Took inspiration from the comment that said 'what if there was a character who died when the watch stopped ticking' !!
His footsteps were sharp on the stones of the street. He fingered a golden pocketwatch with a neat chain and silver numbers, hardly looking up to see where his feet were leading him.
"What an odd curse I have been given," he whispered, touching the glass of the watch one last time before putting it in his coat pocket. Several passerbys openly stared at him, wondering whether he was meant to be in an asylum or had simply gone out with friends and drunk too much. He hardly noticed their glances, and continued walking as if he were on a path he knew well, despite only having come to London for a few days in the previous year, 1878.
"Where is it.." he muttered under his breath sounding a bit impatient. "They said it would be two doors down from..". He paused, as if a sudden thought had come over him. With a quick smile, he brushed the black hair out of his eyes and whirled around, walking right across the street and nearly avoiding being trampled by a carriage.
He slowed to a stop in front of an ordinary building made of what seemed to be stone, but had little glints of silver and gold. "Finally, I've waited all these years," he muttered. "I'll finally be free from this wretched object." His thin hand grabbed the watch out of his pocket, which seemed to tick faster, as if afraid of something. With a sigh, the man pushed open the door that seemed to have appeared out of thin air, and walked in as if he had not a care nor a fear in the world.
"Children of the angels, outcasts of the world, you will end my curse."
