I'm currently building an invert similar to this, but still a way I have never seen done. It was important to me to have my trigger guard AND most of my handle molded into THE SAME blank. There is a huge issue I'm having which is shaping is very difficult with a gun that tapers on 3 sides, and can't run the router down all sides and just be done quickly.. With that said, I'm finally about done, and then the fun editing of all the filming I have been doing can begin. Also, with the price of Teak here in Hawaii, the CNC option is not practical as you need A LOT more sacrificial material. Then again, I've had to remove a lot of material just with having my trigger guard and handle in the same blank.
Hi. When I started designing my first build I wanted to have the whole speargun from one blank too. But I abandoned the idea because too much material would be wasted and was harder to build on the cnc. Teak is expensive here too. When you have the video ready let me know. I am really interested to see how you worked on it!
@@AndrianBLUE I actually didn't waste too much with a blank 3.75" x 3.75" (95mm x 95mm) since I have been making cuts and not planing material everywhere, maybe ill make more pathos replacement butts for people who keep asking. Your CNC blank needs a lot more material just for clamping (but I'm sure you could figure a way to epoxy in some clamping and centering supports to avoid such a large blank) but will definitely let you know once I drop the video. I'm compulsive about adding the details I couldn't find in other UA-cam videos, like how I made my enclosed track. I've posted some photos on the 8-inch-shaka Instagram. Sure mate. If you think it is easier to build something with CNC then I encourage you to try it. Design a speargun in CAD, then program it in CAM, then machine it on a CNC machine and then come tell us how easy it is and how it doesn't require craftsmanship. If you think you can build a structurally better speargun by hand than with a CNC then do it and bring it here and we will measure together how straight and symmetrical it is on the CNC and compare it with one built on a CNC machine.
