@@BelfastGav I've seen them all early last year on the Hub but there's no early 70s, I think '73 is there but can't rmbr. Prob all wiped. Go seek DuckJive..
Maybe the Southampton Brighton game was shown first as with the Big Match being on a saturday night it would have appealed to viewers in the south thus boosting the viewing figures
A major benefit of the way most of the large and medium-sized ITV regions covered a main game in this era, is how their respective highlights' programmes could choose which game to lead with. So, an example here where London Weekend Television made their game, which finished 0-0, on their own programme the second game, meaning the Southern Television coverage at Southampton was made the main match (Southern sometimes had its own programme, often not, in which case they would take LWT's 'The Big Match'. It wasn't an issue for Ulster Television here in Northern Ireland: with no teams in the Football League, it was always 'The Big Match' for us, along with Westward and Channel, while Border took-turns between 'Scotsport' and 'The Big Match', and very occasionally either Granada's or Tyne Tees's highlights' programme.
Nice to see goalkeeper giving it a good boot down field...instead of rolling in out to a defender to Play tip tap toe with..nice start to weekend..cheers duckjive
Annoying that ITV only showing selected programmes for revisited series. Why.? How much crap do they show on that channel. whu 3 watford 2 was missed out the other week. Annoying edits as well. At least 7 mins are chopped from each revisited ep, to fit more ads in.
Yes I agree with you, you could see a good length of match coverage in those days and why not cover those extra 7 minutes by adding 10 minutes to the broadcast time, are those on the hub subject to edits I don’t have it installed and unsure if they come through on satellite on demand
David BOBIN…who continued with TVS after Southern TV lost the franchise and stayed with Meridian when TVS lost their franchise, finally leaving ITV in the 90s to join Sky Sports👍🏼
Brian Moore voice of football
Good quality in that Spurs team
Saw it last week on ITV 4 or week before. Wish we could see series 1,2 & others they've not shown on Freeview.
They are all on the ITV Hub, though.

We had Southsport soccer that day. Then the The Big Match for the last 20 minutes.

💐💐👍🏻
I think here in the south we had Southsport Soccer and the Spurs game.
The intro is like a '' The Onion '' script.

I luv ITV4..😉
Including our sub, 5 of that 12 wouldn't be around for the cup final in May.

@@Dommer1973 You are correct. I belive it was Chris Peacock who left Television South to move to Central in 1987. Many thanks for your reply.
