It's moments like the infamous "I would have done so already" and the staticy "So you" in this song that makes me think Alastor's true nature is much more feral and animalistic than he lets on. And the crazy thing is he's really not that great at hiding it. The charming, gentlemanly showman guise is likely an act he puts on because he finds it entertaining (plus it's an echo of his past life as a radio announcer) and it can entice future victims, like an anglerfish using a lure to catch prey. But that mask frequently slips whenever he gets irritated or excited. As if he can barely restrain himself from tearing everything around him to shreds. It really says something about Alastor's strength, manipulativeness, and confidence that he's able to always come out on top in spite of constantly showing his hand, so to speak. Edit: So I'm re-listening to this song while getting some work done, and this line from the second verse caught my attention: "If you ask me to stay, I would be charmed to You all have such cozy little lives How do you survive Like that, I wish I knew" On the surface that lines up with Alastor's sneaky, condescending attitude pretty well. Like he's just trying to worm his way into these mortal's good graces and mocking them for their domesticity while he's a free spirit, an agent of chaos. But you can also read that as a genuine question on his part. What's unsaid is "How can I live like that too?" In the "Day in the Afterlife" comic, Alastor shows annoyance every time a demon runs away from him or shows fear in his presence. He's a very sociable demon who likes being the center of attention and having others to talk and interact with. Kind of hard to do when you have the reputation of a terrifying Overlord. Maybe what he's really looking for isn't just inspiration, but an end to the loneliness. Somewhere where he won't have to worry about being feared or put on a grand performance to know that he belongs. Or maybe I'm way off the mark and he's just a chaotic feral deer dude. Who knows?
I feel like this song really fits Alastor. He was a serial killer that hid behind the title of a radio host while he was alive. He most likely was a cannibal and did voodoo also. He kills for his entertainment. In his own words, "The world is a stage, and a stage is world full of entertainment.". Alastor is a unpredictiable and manipulative and we have seen this in the pilot. His motives and beliefs are sick and twisted. But yet, He is fun and a loveable character. This song is like Alastor, it's his whole personality in a nutshell. The lyrics are very dark but its sung in a poppy and tune catching way, if that makes sense. The rock parts are very unexpected and takes some time to get use to but yet that's why it's so like him. Anyways thanks for coming to my TED talk!
@@mercurystreet7263 uh I was gonna ask if you ment he was a cannibal because of the vivziepop art of him cutting open a deer in the forest looking pleased with himself while the deer was on a table but I'll just leave that unanswered

I'd say he probably does have a deal with nitfy, which is why he summoned her without providing her anything in return, while Husk's deal was simple, work at the hotel for cheap booze.
I haven't seen a single comment about this but... Dudes... That animation is so damn COOL! The "paper" marionettes in front of a fire/light source and the swift and smooth movements from them are so well done! I'd bet they we're actually "paper" And the whole environment that looks like a small little stage is sweetly enticing! How the camera zooms in and out according to the music, breaking a little the forth wall and then the HUGE Alastor head-puppet-thing with a movable jaw! With small details of paint between the nose and hair like actual wood is all so FREAKING awesome!!! I love all of this!!
@@justblueberries79 First of all, it's not, at least to me it isn't. Secondly, he wasn't describing the music, he was describing the animation. And really, nothing wrong with that. It's quite enticing actually, although I guess it's mostly for us nerds who love the little details and want to make stuff like this ourselves. I would go further by _actually_ describing the music itself, but since I'm not a musician I'd just be telling you stuff you already know and likely wouldn't want to hear. HOW AM I FINDING THIS NOW I liked how Alastor was in the pilot and loved him in the main series because of how he can easily be hated but also still likable, and this song is the perfect representation of him: A cunning, manipulative deal maker who is bored and sends people to a sinful life just so he can enslave their souls
@@lazygalxys240 he literally summoned an abomination with a snap of a finger that took down an entire armed airballoon, this, is much cooler than thanos :")
It’s the little touches that are really cool in this song. Like the line “ you took a wrong turn at the crossroads”, a crossroad in traditional stories was seen as the devil’s territory and/or a place he’d show up at to make deals. Also “ earthly delights you feel you need them”, this line (to me at least) felt like how demons in folk tales can’t really lie, instead they twist the truth around to tit what their selling. All in all awesome song!
I really like how this song portrays Alastor's character ! He is a cruel, merciless, awful, yet very charming and polite demon. And the switching between the verses and chorus shows this difference of character well ! This song is very well done.
Indeed, it is often the well mannered and polite villains that you need to be most afraid of. The closest examples that comes to mind are Hannibal Lecter, Gustavo Fring and Vito Corleone.
@@imtimon7928 This is absolutely true. Especially in a show like Hazbin, where all the characters curse and insult each other every two seconds. He's the only one who doesn't say a single rude word in this entire pilot (Except the "what the hell" in his song, but hey, they're in hell.), and I think that's absolutely terrifying. I love this. He can literally call you "My dear" one second and break your neck the other.
Can we also take a moment to point out just how fucking off putting the song is in every stage. Normal Alastor singing: Creepy friend who has given you a favor. Metal Alastor: That friend when ever you go out to dinner.
Whatever the franchise, TLT makes their songs canon. Edit: Just wanted to add in, that Alastor can summon other demons by will. Just like Niffty or Husk. Which leads to a theory that this song *is actually canon*
I've looked through the comments and seen that people are saying that this song doesn't fit Alastor. So here's my take on it. The old timey parts are how Alastor acts when he's summoned into the human world. He'll gladly give you the tools to live a life full of sin, while ensuring that you don't face any consequences until you die. Once you die, you have to serve him in hell forever. So based off of what we see in Hazbin Hotel, this does fit Alastor's character. He's charming, but extremely dangerous. At least that's how I see this song.
That COULD explain how he summons nifty and husk, after all he said before he summoned them “I can cash a few FAVORS just to liven things up!” The favors could be the deal they made with him in the human world...after all husk already knew him and shows kinda hate towards him but still does what he wants...😳😶
I’ve seen people say that the metal part doesn’t fit Alastor but then again I’d like to point out that we’ve really only seen one side of him, and some of the fans like to romanticize him to where they like the “fanon” character more than canon. Also, remember that these characters are in hell, for a reason. They aren’t suppose to good people (excluding Charlie). TL;DR: Yes, this song matches Alastor
A lot of people are saying it doesn't fit but I think it does perfectly. if you think about it there were a few times in the pilot he'd break character or have weird static similar to how this song breaks into metal. Overall I think too many people are too focused on who they "think" Alastor is not who he actually is in the show
You're right. If you think about Alastor for a moment - you will understand, that he is a rotten piece of shit, who will do anything to accomplish his plans, not caring for anyone or anything. So yeah, this song sound like him
I don't exactly disagree with this. Personally, I think the hard rock really throws off the vibe of a 1930's song which I'm not really a fan of, but the lyrics and everything else make sense and really fit.
Oh yeah, bro. I think Alastor is hella (no pun intended) evil, just as much as Valentino and Vox. I think he'll manipulate Charlie and cause a lot of problems, especially in the beginning.
Newsflash to anyone not knowing what fandom this is: _You can still enjoy this song, even if you are not in the fandom. Don't listen to anyone who says you have to be. This is your taste in music and it's your choice to enjoy that music._
That doesn’t make any sense. If you’re truly introverted you would be skeptical since you’d believe that normies are shallow, conceited, and deceitful people, right?
I might have found a spoiler for season 2. At 1:17 when Alastor says “your tired of feeling awful small,” Niftys character turns around looking embarrassed. The full line is “but you have a lovely little secret you’re tired of feeling awful small so you gave Mr. Alastor a call to make a deal because you’re hungry for all the sights you want to see them earthly delights you feel you need them your appetites I’ll help you feed them be your sweet radio demon” this could mean Nifty was unhappy not being treated seriously and Alastor tricked her into making a deal by promising her he will protect her and give her power and fortune. Directly after this he says “but once your hunger has abated don’t forget your friend who waited watched as you indulged your thirst and did I mention that your cursed” my theory is that later in the series Nifty will try to leave and Alastor won’t let her and we will get her full backstory. Or maybe this is about something entirely different and I’m just over thinking it.
After listening to it about 4 times or so I actually really like the metal parts. The first time I heard it, I was in the thought that it was reprehensible like many others, but its actually quite good.
I like to call it the TLT effect. I also get repulsed by the song the first time I hear it, then i can’t stop listening lol. Happens with most of his songs and they end up stuck in my head for weeks
I feel like this song represents two sides of Alastor, the first part shows his affable, but manipulative side, while the second part represents his more vicious, violent side of him. The two different styles of song use further illustrate this, one part charming but slightly sinister, the other is outright menacing.
@@johnathancopson9328 its not canon, its inspired by alastor but its not supposed to be accurate to his charachter or the story, and if it ends up being similar to the actual story then thats a happy little accident.
This might sound a bit weird but, at 2:17 Alastor says “I’m double dealing in betrayal” which corresponds to husk’s backstory when he says “when you gamble souls, the house Will always win” could this indicate that Alastor didn’t play fairly with husker when he lost his soul to him. Could Alastor have cheated?
See one thing I've noticed is the two humans Alastor invites to the game have their own stories. It seems that the man is very agile around Alastor while the woman is very quick to accept. As you can see, he seems to play around more with the man, spinning him around and letting him almost feel as though they're just having fun with a new friend. The woman however doesn't react to any of Alastor's outbursts. A good example is the "So You", when the man quickly runs away from him but there is no reaction, not even a jump, from the woman. What I believe their story is is that they are in love. But the woman is fueled by greed which Alastor claims to supply with a money bag that she reaches out for. Because of this greed the man is left behind in the relationship, which Alastor again promises to return the love to him because he pulls him from the woman and the money and shows him a heart, which he quickly wants to touch. He's reluctant but agrees in the promise of his lover's love once again. I like those little details.
He is a deal maker, slot of times they like to watch their prey, it's why alot of times you see car dealers watching you. They want to see what you gravitate toward. Then strike once they feel they read you so they can get the deal. He is a sly one and even went so far as to make an example of others to show those that want a strong ally in hell. He has many faces it feels like because he was dealing with Charlie we saw the whimsical side but cant wait to see more of the radio demon.
Ok I didn't read all on what you said, because it super long. But I can say that maybe the man is just a *BIG* baby when it come to the glitching. Or just his back was turning away from the woman when he was glitching. Also the men and women remind me of Eve and Adam, with the apple. ( not to act Like everything is religious) but it just made me think about that.

“I want to watch the scum of the world struggle to climb up the hill of betterment, only to repeatedly trip and tumble down to the fiery pit of failure.” -Alastor
my only wish is amazing magic beans like hazbin hotel had the backing to make it go beyond a pilot, like infinity train for example. backing like how crunchyroll turned Tower of God and Highschool God from webtoonz into actual anime, ToG even has a second season scheduled
I don’t care if this doesn’t sound exactly like Alastair it sounds like stuff he’d say and GOD DAMN the song is so good keep going on these kinds of songs
“The dark desires you’ve been serving you can bet that your deserving no regret for who your hurting why it’s almost like your flirting” sounds like he’s talking to nifty since he likes her for how unhinged she is. He’s also pointing at her character when he says it
Okay, hear me out. While most people depict the lady and gentleman as Charlie and Angel, I personally think they're actually Niffty and Husk. First of all, about Charlie, I don't think she actually came from the Living World. I mean, sure, she's a demon, but I saw something somewhere that she was born, in Hell, somewhere in the early-to-mid-to-late eighteen hundreds. Her parents are, obviously, Lucifer and Lilith, so it would make sense. Second of all, here in the song, Alastor sang the verse "You're tired of feeling awful small" to the lady. In the pilot, Nifty is as small as a two-year-old, but died when she was, my guess is, at the age of her early twenties. Third of all, the man in the video seemed to want love. Husk had mentioned that he 'lost the ability to love years ago.' My guess is that while Husk doesn't really 'work' for Alastor in the pilot, my first thought is that he USED to work for him, but opted out because of Alastor's brutality. I guess he doesn't want to love anyone because of Alastor tricking him. And, well even though this doesnt really support my theory, it seems that Nifty and Husk knew each other. Idk, this is all just my theory, really.
Bruh I just read a comment that said "Watch people think that the two random people alastors talking too think they are husk and nifty" And you also gotta remember alastor met the two when he first went to hell. As they both were originally overlords.
I just realized that Alastor is basically like the joker, only more put together. He loves the chaos and evil of it all, loves watching it and stirring it all up. Just so he can be entertained.
This song shows how Alastor has tricked people into his deals, the chorus is like their nightmares of him. He promised stuff The woman money The man love Turns out he tricked them.
people who think that this is not canon and hate on this songs theory really need to watch the pilot again. This song clearly is about Alastor having fun at the suffering of others and that was waayyy back. In the pilot he tells charlie that he is grown bored of such entertainment and wants to seek other means of suffering so he chose the happy hotel aka Hazbin hotel. This is a really a good song.
It's hard to say if it is or not. The fnaf songs by tombstone is not canon, but tombstone is friends with creator of hazbin/helluva, so it might be canon? Idk, hazbin only has the pilot and the prequel comic for lore atm
0:12 “If I tell you my name, you’ll have to play too.” 1:22 “Give Mister Alastor a call.” Me: “Welp, guess I’m playing now.” Edit: Holy heart failure, Batman! Thanks for the likes, dudes!

In the "Day in the Afterlife" comic, Alastor shows annoyance every time a demon runs away from him or shows fear in his presence.
Who knows?
yes youre right, just visit the official comic " a day in alastor life" on the hazbin hotel website

I liked how Alastor was in the pilot and loved him in the main series because of how he can easily be hated but also still likable, and this song is the perfect representation of him: A cunning, manipulative deal maker who is bored and sends people to a sinful life just so he can enslave their souls
To anyone who's complaining about Alastor not being subtle: He literally went on a broadcasted murder spree in hell just because he felt like it.

And yet the fandom depicts him as a gay, TOTALLY TRUSTWORTHY dude.
@@imtimon7928 This is absolutely true. Especially in a show like Hazbin, where all the characters curse and insult each other every two seconds.
S T R A W B E R R Y P I M P
Lu Magne: *is a separate character from satan*
Al: *is on par with the devil*
Alastor because
*yes*
A lot of people are saying it doesn't fit but I think it does perfectly. if you think about it there were a few times in the pilot he'd break character or have weird static similar to how this song breaks into metal. Overall I think too many people are too focused on who they "think" Alastor is not who he actually is in the show
You're right. If you think about Alastor for a moment - you will understand, that he is a rotten piece of shit, who will do anything to accomplish his plans, not caring for anyone or anything. So yeah, this song sound like him
He is a deal maker, this song plays to that, and I dont see it not working to his many faces.
I don't exactly disagree with this. Personally, I think the hard rock really throws off the vibe of a 1930's song which I'm not really a fan of, but the lyrics and everything else make sense and really fit.
Viv said in a huni cast that alastor is extremely terrifying, and we'll get to see more of his sociopathic/scary side as the show goes on
Oh yeah, bro. I think Alastor is hella (no pun intended) evil, just as much as Valentino and Vox. I think he'll manipulate Charlie and cause a lot of problems, especially in the beginning.
3 years after the release, this is still a banger song

Ik!!!

Yea!

I feel like this song represents two sides of Alastor, the first part shows his affable, but manipulative side, while the second part represents his more vicious, violent side of him.

Darkgamer ok?? I was talking about how he spelled alastor.
"The world is a stage! And the stage is a world of entertainment."
" *did i mention that you cursed?* "
I replied to break this reply chain before it happened because haha I go *BRRRRRRRRRRR*
Oh hell no the radio demon himself is here
Wanna be.
Father why do you ignore me
“The dark desires you’ve been serving you can bet that your deserving no regret for who your hurting why it’s almost like your flirting” sounds like he’s talking to nifty since he likes her for how unhinged she is. He’s also pointing at her character when he says it
I love how this song really gets Alastor's essence. He seems to be a calm, nice man that you can trust, but in reality he's a monster
Yeah, the chorus with the change of the tempo, voice, rythym, and even instruments in the background emphasizes that.
A great song that manages to capture the essence of the character
You don't say.
I mean he's a demon.
nice, calm? Wtf
He seems to be.
Everyone: That dont sound like alastor wtf
Me who forgot to rewatch hazbin: yep thats alastor
Ok but the song it's still a pretty poggers song
i thought it was the real actor lol
It’s close enough
I tried to compare, and I think it sounds pretty close. Maybe it's the lack of static-iness to his voice in this song that he usually has in the show.
@@NanaOfTheMonsters which he only has because its makes him more intimidating, he can talk normally as far as i know
Okay, hear me out.
It's Just A Theory... A FILM THEORY!
It's very plausible
@@Xenos_Soulflame XD Yeah
Bruh I just read a comment that said
"Watch people think that the two random people alastors talking too think they are husk and nifty"
And you also gotta remember alastor met the two when he first went to hell. As they both were originally overlords.
@@SirLoopss Yeah, I saw that one XD And yeah, I can see that
"Did I mention that you're curs-ed" is such a hard line XD like OOPS was that in the fine print? Sucks to be you
I just realized that Alastor is basically like the joker, only more put together. He loves the chaos and evil of it all, loves watching it and stirring it all up. Just so he can be entertained.
Joker without the mental illness
Which joker like there are different types.
Well yes, but actually no
Uncreative’name 3600 tell me all the types
you're right but also never say that again
If he found 1929 amusing, he would be having the time of his life right now
Yep
Yeah.

Truth
This song shows how Alastor has tricked people into his deals, the chorus is like their nightmares of him. He promised stuff
The woman money
The man love
Turns out he tricked them.
Oh, this isn't canon, this is a fan song
katie boo, it still represents how he tricked em all.
So it’s basically selling your soul to the devil🤔
@Vantagez yeah that makes more sense
Oh he does that I just tackle people and force them to the deal and the stab them 10 weeks later
the rhythm and key changes will never fail to astonish me
people who think that this is not canon and hate on this songs theory really need to watch the pilot again.
@@Raven_Redacted maybe
It's not canon - only things officially endorsed or published by the creator are considered canon. An interesting song regardless
@@jackofalltrades8 i never said that it was canon, but it is an interesting song.
@@waleedshah6416 you kinda did

I dont know why but the "SO YOU" might be one of my favorite bits of this song, where he like slips up and shows his bad side through his charm
Same I thought I was the only one my friends look at me like....wtf at that part
I thought it said No You the first time i heard it
i can kinda do the voice too... o_o
The part is around 1:20 or 1:21
You can even see the Male shadow puppet jump away from Al at that moment
To the people who are like he is not anything like the actual character, think about how screwed up he actually was in his past....
And some people are saying he isn't subtle, and instead straightforward unlike the song shows, but in the song he's straightforward too. Literally he's saying all the good things you'll get but once you die your soul is all mine. To me that's pretty straightforward.
Why would he need to be subtle? This is the exact same demon who broadcasts all over hell. He's literally a known powerful demon.
Nah, making and streaming absolute massacres, thats not that bad...
@@egg1677 that makes it even WORSE - he gives you the best hand you could possibly have(noted about mentioning playing your cards right/wrong) by making it obvious what will happen like you said - yet in the end, you STILL lose
This makes him looks like he deals souls like satan
