I liked that part, too. I’m 24, and have gone to quite a few different bowling alleys in my lifetime, but none of them had this masking unit, nor did the masking units light up on the second half of the frame. I’ve always wanted to own a bowling alley and have fully functional AMF magic triangle masking units, complete with the pin-dicator and directional arrows!
You did a great job with this set up. The AMF masking unit and rake look great IMO. If only you had room for an 82-30 Next to it. It's amazing how the A2s, 82-30s and even 82-70s are still running reliably today. Better than the GS-X series IMO.
They say the new GSX machines won't last ten years, while the Brunswick A-2's are still going strong at 60 years old! The metal on the new machines is thin like tin foil and not heavy steel like the A-2's!
I love the old 82/30 but man, were they bad about individual pin cups getting out of adjustment. Nothing worse than a 1-3 pocket that's either too "closed" or "too wide".
@@BrakRulesAll I have been away for 30 yrs and pin-chased as a kid for ages working for my dad with his A-2Brunswicks. I never liked the AMF machines, they were far more flimsy and had way too many moving parts. That is how the new GSX Brunswicks are today and I just don't get it. The A-2 (ours had jet-back ball returns too) were built like tanks and I am sure that as long as parts exist or can be made those machines will last forever!! I did note that some A-2 owners used gear reduction to slow the machines slightly to save wear a few years back. The original A-2's were pretty slow.
you need to use pin cleaner then dip all pins in clear lacquer! We used to use a super hot banding machine to spin pins through a pair of glowing rods while the pins had 4 inch black bands around their waists, the pins really tightened up like new, then I cleaned and dipped them then reboxed them. Back then a new round of pins for a 16 lane house with $4000 bucks! Take care of those pins.
How long have you been collecting bowling memorabilia.. Have you worked in the bowlng industry❓ have you owned a bowling alley ❓where did you get it all of your great memorabilia. Can we come and bowl in your garage next time we're in the Dallas area👍
Nice video. Looks like the 6 pin cell is stuck now. After you fixed the 8. Could the machine hold 30 pins. It seems like it could. Yesterday you had the Scissor replacement video. You mentioned 'grease' in a couple of moving parts. I've noticed, over the last year of watching, that the machine looks extremely 'dry'. With all of the moving parts, I thought it would need to have a drop of lube once in a while. An "Old Timer" told me once, "If it moves, you oil it". It was in reference to a printing press, but still a good lesson in life. Keep the videos coming please.
Trust me it’s got lots of lube in all the right places. Detector mainly. I’ve tried to hit everything up with something. Moving deck has scissors not yet. That area I agree on. I found another bad scissor so I’m going to pull all of them out and give them the once over. 4 is really bad. Luckily I have spares. 6 pinfinder was me changing the bucket and not reinstalling the tension spring correctly. It’s fixed now.
@@GarageBowlingAlley Thanks for the reply. I'm one of the ones who will go through 'withdrawals' the next couple of Monday's. You have what every 'bowler' wants, lanes at his house. Love your videos. I'd like to see Bill and Karen get in there, just to work on their 'release' and 'target' hitting skills. They both seem so frustrated when they miss. An easy fix and they would enjoy the game even more. Hope all have a Merry Christmas.
The cushion is low. I’m working today on a fix. Replacing the pindeck with a synthetic (more pin action) jacking it up higher, jacking the kickbacks higher then. I can lower the cushion about 1/2” which should mean more deadwood !! The machine is mounted too low so the result is the ball can’t go under til 180 when the cushion is at its highest. Long time project finally happening
If you go to 3:22 and pause it at that point you’ll see how the AMF sweep attached to the Brunswick rake arms, it looks like it’s bolted by something that holds it together
How do you do this is there a conversation kit to install the amf sweep on the brunswick pinsetter bc im interested in buying this kind of sweep for my brunswick As and wondering if they just fit on there or i have to buy something specific to be able to install them on the brunswick machines thanks
It’s funny. 8 was the ONLY one. Then I worked on it. Then all the sudden every other pinfinder started acting up sporadically. I think I’ve adjusted all by the 1 and 7 now. 6 was a reinstallation error when I changed the bucket and didn’t get the pinfinder spring in its housing properly.
Boo to the music if I wanted to hear raunchy music and bowling alley sound effects I could’ve done it myself but I enjoy those old fashion pin setters until the crappy music started
Sorry you find a guitar to be "raunchy", but it only lasts for 20 seconds. Use the right arrow key (desktop) or double tap right side of screen (mobile) and you can skip that portion.
I could watch this all day
I've never seen this setup before. Love the bowler assist on the 2nd ball showing where to roll the ball into.

I wish we had the space too! That would be fun.
@@GarageBowlingAlley your expanded stub center could have an 82-30 or 82-70 next to the A-2.

That masking unit is from 1960 and it's the Magic Circle mask. That thing would cut you to ribbons during cleaning !

The Linds pins sure could use a dip !

So now I wanna see an AMF machine (either type) with a Brunswick rake on it!! (As ridiculous as that may sound)
I’d love to see that ! Maybe I can arrange that with Josh

The pit seems to not let the ball go until the sweep goes down the pin deck.

AMFwick A82-70. Nice
You should throw twister pins in the machine, i want to see them in it again.
I love the twisters ! I do atleast. Haha.
@@GarageBowlingAlley I just realised i said throw i meant put, throw is just a direct translation of how it's said in the language i speak 😄

I wish you had the room and space for a full bowling lane with the pinsetter, that would be SO COOL!!!!!!🎳

Please tell me how you got the AMF rake board to work on a Brunswick. They are by far more durable then the crap there putting out today
