@@nightnyungwe5945 Oh I'm sure that many, many folks in Nairobi would never eat at a roadside makeshift eatery like that. It is my understanding that they are illegal because of the many obvious health violations. I wanted to try to cross it off my bucket list. There is nothing healthy nor sanitary about it but given that this is not going to be a common occurrence, I wanted to give it a try. Did you happen to see the Diani food review video? Actually if you're from Uk it'd even be way easier, Kenya uses Uk system by large.Signage, driving and to some level weather.Almost everybody speaks english
Just be confident as you walk around and you'll be fine. I love it here. However, my final destination is the coast where I'm setting up residence. I love the beach.

Hi Ben. Help me solve it. Is that type of business called a Kibanda or Kibandaski?
Either applies. Original word is kibanda which means a makeshift eatery structure but youths also came along with the name kibandaski to make is sound cool/popular. In truth though, kibanda is more of a makeshift restaurant and that one was open air eatery but I guess the name still applies. Another fact, legally they are outlawed because of hygiene issues but no one really enforces the by-laws. Once in a while, the authorities enforce the law and destroy the vibandas (plural for kibanda) and the cycle repeats itself.
