this song is a masterpiece 🎧
So I figure the timeline goes as follows:
1. *Bad Dreams* (For the most part) : A dog couple planning to have a much more stable life on their planet, suddenly literally having said dreams struck by a meteors causing the end of their world. With the Red Dog sacrificing their life so their loved one, our protagonist the Blue Dog can survive.
2. *Troubled* : We see our Blue Dog begin his lonely life first injured and grieving the loss of his loved one, but as the song itself implies and as we see through the animation, despite his loss and the fact he is still hurt over the loss and holocaust, the dog does his best to remain optimistic and trying to live up to the wish of his love one so their sacrifice doesn't seem in vain: *Keep living* . Thus he tries to find a new home on planet earth
3. *Party Starter* : The beginning and everything that Troubled stood for makes it clear what the song and also the animation is about, the Blue Dog is ready to move on so as soon as he lands in earth he, well, gets the party started. and is trying to win over the residents of Planet Earth, thus doing his best to impress and settle, which he later on archives.
We can clearly tell it is this dog and not the copy-car robot dog we see in *Under The Sun* because moments before he lands on Planet Earth he symbolically puts on the jacket of his loved one; But more on this later.
4. *Learn to Lose* : The animation on itself can be confusing to place the song on the timeline, however it is the song itself which gives away the answers we seek to properly place it. We can assume during Party Starter Blue Dog might have lost his space ship on the last flight it did on the last scene, so lets assume Learn to Lose kicks right after that.
With that info in mind we can tell that meanwhile the Blue Dog might have won over some folks, he still has trouble fitting as there is a pretty clear animal and human division on the planet, which is apparent to him not only after finding out dogs can't do stuff like swimming but also because he sees dogs on the streets living honestly quite poorly, so as the song implies he tries to become the game changer trying to "Not be afraid no more" so he sneaks on the pool and dives and such bravery encourages more animals to do a leap of faith on the pool too, or as the song puts it, "Losers raising their feets" which in the end seems to have broken the division on said area considering the Life Guard gives in to the act of bravery and joins in.
Sadly the Police arrives and our dog is arrested. for now.
5. *Baianá* : Our dog, now free from jail and running away from the police, still feels like an outcast on the planet, especially now that he had been arrested before; Yet that doesn't seem to have struck down his will to live nor his optimism on finding a new place to call home. Eventually he goes onto a dessert in which he finds a car in a gas station with no owner near by, so now a criminal he proceeds to "borrow it" as that might not seem to be a big deal since it won't change his current situation and proceeds his quest to find a new place to call home on the nearest town.
6. *Under the Sun* : This one is a tricky one and a packed one.
You see, in between all the trippy animation and drugged tacos we see clear parallels to *Party Starter* from the very get go. Our dog, now confirmed to be named *Matt Baker* (get it?) has been impersonated by a Robo-Copy Cat of himself for god know how long considering his time in prison might should be taken to count. Not only that but it can be assumed that some company built the dog to replicate Mat Baker's first party almost daily the persuade the residents onto indirectly contributing a monopoly built around brainwashing; Now weather or not that's a Taco company or not is debatable.
Matt Baker immediately notices something is off because this was exactly like his first introduction on the planet so what he does is that he stays away off the party and returns next day trying to reinspect what's going on, and smartly avoids eating the Taco. From this point onwards he notices EVERYTHING WRONG about the town and decides to face his lookalike to find he's a robot. Now seeing that a robot was the one influencing people he confronts him on a dance off trying to break everybody free, which works as the robot, still not advance to keep up with Mat Baker's dancing, breaks up and his people begin to reilase they're under some sort of mistake. Thus people recognize the true Matt Baker, he proclaim the suit of his species and goes on on his quest for a place to truly call his own. This is why I believe the song is called "Under the Sun" it was literally a monopoly built around someone's sudden fame, literally overshadowed by the legacy of someone else.
*HOWEVER* there are still questions left on this animation that possibly may or might not get confirmed in the future, for example: Where did this ship come from? Was it Matt Baker's? Or who is the mysterious Figure we see after Matt leaves, with a white hand and red suit is safe to assume is someone of his same species. That being said I could assume Matt Baker is not the only alien dog in the planet, and that some dog joined a company, saw Matt trending during *Learn to Lose* in the news and used his image to help some company make their monopoly grow; But is all speculation.
7. *Bad Dreams [Beginning and Ending]* : You know what the animations and the full album "*the Ringmaster*", the album compilation that contain these songs, have in common? They both start with a troubled protagonist with tons of positivism copping their troubles on party and music yet eventually realizing that life can only go on for so long and it ends on the bittersweet realization that they have lost their way.
I think *Bad Dreams* Beginning and Ending sequence is quite complex, having all the info above you can tell during his journey to find a new meaning to life Matt Baker has faced more than just a few hiccups on his way. He wanted to fulfill a wish, and also find a meaning, a meaning to justificate his life and a justification to make a sacrifice not be on vain; And by trying to accomplish said goal he tried to cop his issues with positivism in a quest to find a new life and home, using music and festive behavior to win over strangers and give his life a purpose, but as we saw on *Under The Sun* he saw the consequences of said route.
From living a life of delusion to falling onto a corrupted monopoly, the life of a *Party Starter* seemed like a fun idea given as we saw in Troubled's background of his house, he and his loved one were gifted musicians so it made sense, but that life had a big downhill: It was empty, a party can only go for so long if is meaningless.
That's where he begins to reflect on his life, when times were simpler and better, when he had a purpose, a home, a place to call his own, a planet, and someone who gave him the equal amount of love he shared. Remember, both were a couple that already had plans to start a new life of their own, but destiny took it all away from him, and then the painful memory of a loss and sacrifice of the one he so dearly love as he cries and wonders how's he's gonna justify his life now, how won't he let down his lover, and how can he find a home when the one he had he cannot have it back, the place in which his heart truly had a meaning: with his loved one.

I think *Bakermat* and his team of animators did an outstanding job with the story telling on these animations, they ended up being deeper than I initially thought and I'm amazed by the story of Matt Baker and everything he had to go through, is quite mind-blowing when you put all of that together. Kuddos and this has been my summary!

Never have I ever had a song that speaks to me to this degree. Driving myself mad and sleepless due to fanaticised scenarios and having vivid and otherworldy dreams, fears of loss and the sadness that comes with it. Then the part about knowing better than to dwell on these dreams and thoughts as its not going to help if you keep it up

The story makes so much sense now... this was before all the previous videos. This isn’t the end but rather a new beginning and a reflection of the past.

Hey man, I hope 2023 is going better than your 2020/2021. April 2021 was rough for me, had a mental breakdown that month, cos of some personal reasons, like dog and cat passing away in January and April, and moving out to a new place that latter month. Wish I found this song back then. But hey, all bad things turn to good, it may take a few months though. :)
