As Brick Bronsky's personal manager for his acting work in motion pictures, I discovered your very detailed inclusion of him in your report here. Brick Bronsky/Jeff Beltzner passed away on August 22 at age 57. Bronsky fans can see him as the lead character in the action/horror feature "Masked Mutilator" which was released in 2019 and is streaming now on Amazon Prime, UA-cam Movies and Tubi.

I trained under Mestre Cesar in Bahia in Capoeira back at the time of the millenia. He told me that there was some tension between him and the French fighter. The French fighter wanted to fight Van Damme, and there was tension. He is a striking coach at MMA masters now but his understudy Mestre Sarigue teaches Capoeira at MMA Masters. Mestre Cesar taught Sarigue since he was a child the same time I trained with them.

Actually the Term Tae Kwon Do didn't come around until 52. After WWII there were martial arts schools that cropped up that were called Kwans. Each had their own style. The combination of those styles along with some of Taekkyon which was the historical martial art of Korea which gave birth to Tae Kwon Do. The fighter in the movie is most likely using Subak which is a Korean style of bare hand fighting which is why he's not throwing kicks, it is more a hand technique style which incorporates wrestling.

This is Fucking Hilarious. HAHAHA! I don't know where to start.
I had a Weird Dream the other Day.
But I had a Dream. That I was in 1980's. *The Dream Team* was there. Michael J Fox, Ralph Macchio ,
Chuck Norris. Tom Cruise and You was There.
You was actually The Head or the Captain of some Fraternity House. It Looked like a Cross between Xavier's Boarding House and the Stairs from "Risky Business" where Tom Cruise did his Iconic Dance with the Sunglasses.
And I remember I went down the Stairs and I Saw Ma MAN! HAHAHA! *Van Damme*!!!
*IN HIS PRIME!* with his Black Wifebeater. And He was doing his Iconic Signature Kicks and I woke up Laughing Hysterically. Because You Got Mad at Me that I didn't do Van Damme's Split Kick! It was a Really Fun Dream Man.
Definitely One of the Most Memorable Hilarious Dreams I Will Never Forget.

I love this movie and its storytelling.
I watch it a lot on dvd.
Even though it is similar to Bloodsport, the fighters seem to be more of actual characters in this one because of their backgrounds and representation.
This is definitely one of the best movies Van Damme put out when he was a bankable star. I found it particularly cool that even tho he is french, JCVD didn't decide to either portray the main villain as french or he himself represent the country.
He didn't even write the fighter as a legit threat to him lol. Considering that Savate is a strong discipline, it just doesn't have the agility to keep up with most of the disciplines. He would've been outmatched severely against the American, Spanish, Chinese, Siam and Mongolian fighter.
The Brazilian fighter straight up murdered him.

      @matatosky 3 роки тому

@@GMunoz-oj5zb At the time the movie takes place, Jiu Jitsu was well known in Brazil but was still developed by its pioneers to be renowned all over the world.
      They developed it in 1920.
      Movie: 1925
YES, it could've been in the movie but it would've been too unlikely that an experienced fighter would be renowned enough to participate, after only competing in the sport for 5 years.
The reason why the Ghang Gheng was such a big deal, was because its fighters were world class.
Capoeira is an older art and Brazil's representation, which is not useless, brother.
When I first got into kickboxing, one of my trainers was a Capoeira practitioner since he was a kid and the dude could move.
His kicks were just so on point.
In a real fight, you'd be too vulnerable using Capoeira with a more grounded fighter but not necessarily useless. Just sharing the info from what I know of it personally.

Van Damme was a Hoover to Colombian Bam Bam in the 90s and not a lot of people had good things to say about him back then.

I think that Han Soo Ong was portraying a Tang Soo Do fighter. I agreed that it looked more Karate (ish). Maybe he was showing old school TKD.
    What do you think?

I think he was probably showing old school TKD. I'm sure a lot of footage was left on the cutting room floor too. In an interview with the guy that played the German fighter, he said that TKD was one of the martial arts that were portrayed in the film.
