In una delle zone costiere basse del Bangladesh lungo il fiume Brahmaputra, un'orfana di 12 anni di nome Afrin vive su un'isola devastata dalle inondazioni e senza elettricità. I suoi parenti vogliono farla sposare, il che è illegale sebbene pratica comune, ma Afrin non è come le altre ragazze, ha dei piani e una mente tutta sua. Quando la sua casa viene sommersa dalle inondazioni, decide di lasciarsi alle spalle l'unico mondo che abbia mai conosciuto e intraprendere un pericoloso viaggio in barca in solitaria per trovare il padre che non ha mai incontrato, in una delle città più densamente popolate del mondo. A Dhaka, una città traboccante di pericoli e misteri, Afrin affronta l'impossibile, ma fa amicizia con un gruppo di compagni orfani e non abbandona mai la speranza di ricongiungersi con il padre e vivere una vita migliore.

In one of Bangladesh's low-lying coastal areas along the Brahmaputra River, a 12-year-old orphan named Afrin lives on a flood-ravaged island with no electricity. Her relatives want to marry her off which is illegal though common practice but Afrin is not like other girls, she has plans and a mind of her own. When her home is inundated by floods, she decides to leave behind the only world she's ever known and embark on a perilous solo boating journey to find the father she's never met, in one of the most densely populated cities in the world. . In Dhaka, a city brimming with danger and mystery, Afrin faces the impossible, but befriends a group of fellow orphans and never gives up hope of reuniting with his father and living a better life.
