Seriously. Until you've edited even a SINGLE video... folks have NO idea how much work folks like James and Mike are doing. Not kidding. I edit all my own videos, and although it's not as if I have a super crazy million-hits channel... editing is editing. It's laborious, tedious work, and sometimes, it can be pretty difficult and challenging.
***** I know that feeling. Not only do I make my own reviews here on YT, I have a job as a professional video editor. Good luck trying to keep motivated to edit your own stuff after you've put in 8 hours editing someone else's!
I really enjoy the James and Mike game play throughs. As much as originally subscribed to watch the AVGN videos, watching two ( and sometimes guests ) genuinely regular guys having a blast playing some old games is a blast. Thanks for all your hard work and efforts Mike.
some years ago, people wanted mike to stop doing videos, because they wanted to see james instead (when he was doing the ET movie) now that james is back, they ask mike to do more videos. :VVVVVVV
Watching this makes me want to pull this back out and play it. :) I forgot about Q*bert. Nice review, Mike! It's nice to learn something new about a classic. I haven't seen this version before.
As I was watching this video, I was looking at the character, and thinking where I saw that. I realized he was one of the side characters in Wreck It Ralph. Keep in mind that 1983 was the year I was born, and I did play some Atari games before getting into Nintendo, but my parents must not have had this game, so I didn't know about Q*bert being a character. I do remember playing Asteroids, Kaboom, and Missile Command among a few others that I can't remember. Anyway, Mike, great review. Q*bert's Qubes looks like fun. I'm a guy who enjoys variety when it comes to games, and as much as I love modern games, sometimes I would like to play a simpler game like this once in awhile, whether it's playing an old classic or playing a new game with a retro feel.
yay! Cinemassacre Mike, please continue to do these! They are awesome and I love you uploading them randomly it's like a surprise to make my week better! :D
I heard of this game, but I never played it. Also I had countless amounts of card games, joke books and other random stuff of Q*Bert. At a time there was a ton of that stuff I found too as much as like Pacman or Super Mario Bros at one time later. I'll always love Q*Bert and Frogger.
I really enjoy your reviews Mike, keep em coming! (I would like to see a few more Wii U reviews, it's always interesting hearing the thoughts of an old school Nintendo gamer regarding their current output)
I'm glad that lots of people start to like Mike already... Before, many people hated him for no reason, but now people like him for absolutely one reason..
Had qbert vaguely, in the back of my mind til watching this brought him front and center. Great review Mike, these vids are a blessing. Time to go earn my cubes
Can someone help me? It could be qbert on the ps1 but I'm not sure. The game on ps1 could have multiple players where your character would jump on different blocks in a square shape. Sorry if it's too vague I can hardly remember it :(
There's one other version of Q*Bert's Qubes that's _extremely_ obscure! It's by Konami, and it was exclusive to the MSX. Despite being based off Q*Bert's Qubes, it was simply titled "Q*Bert". Also, for some odd reason, Q*Bert was a dinosaur like character in this game... It's not bad, actually. In a way, it mixes up Qubes in the same way Q*Bert 3 mixes up the original by changing the board and featuring a double jump power up that becomes required in later boards to cross gaps. I'd recommend it if you can find it!
Those people who complained about the controls of Q*Bert for the Atari 2600 are obviously like those who complain about ET: never reading the game's instructions. It's no wonder they don't understand how to play. The manual tells players to position the joystick so that the botton is at the top (not diagonal), thus having controls that "make sense", using the creator of the original arcade version's words.
Strangely enough, I never played the original Q*bert, or the sequels, _but_ when I was in school I played a clone called *3D Cube Hopper* and it had some unexpectedly really great music.
Mike, I've been enjoying you're reviews a lot lately. I am not sure what it is, but I haven't enjoyed too much from Cinemassacre in the last year. Your reviews are intuitive, evenly paced and informative. While it is obvious that James and Mike Mondays is meant to be improvised and off the cuff, but it just doesn't seem that interesting. Hopefully fans will see more content like this coming from Cinemassacre in the future.
2:05 - sounds like great design doesn't it? It's like disabling the red color for a induction stove when the target temperature is reached. Just less dangerous.
I'd love to see another top 10 frome Mike, like the hidden gems ones, but something like his favorite games from a specific console or something like that.
Purple balls that hatch into an evil mouse? I need this game in my life. Same goes for Q*bert 3 on SNES. Probably get that edition instead. :( I forgot how much I miss good ol' Q*bert.
Hell yeah MoFo Mike!! Great video! I remember watching the TV show when it was rerun late at night. Didn't know what the hell was going on but I remember liking it as a kid. 😃
That's odd Mike...the version I had of QBert for the Colleco was way different where the cubes did not rotate and looked way better. After level 6 it sped up to the point that it became really fun and the blocks would revert back to the original color. QBert, Ladybug, Mr. Do, Zaxon, Looping and others were many of my favorites.
Hey mike, I'd just like to know what makes the Atari 2600 your favourite console of all time? I mean I'm 31 and I even consider it a bit to old and dated.
I think the NES had many more varied games than the master system. It would be hard to come up with a top 20 sms games but you could easily do it with the nes.
I think for a lot of people Atari felt more like an arcade experience due to its controls. Also, compared to NES or SMS games the games for the 2600 are just plain pick up and play fun type games, without much need to look at a manual or get invested in a story. There's something to be said for a game that is relaxing and fun at the same time, and Atari 2600 games were brilliant at achieving that.
I may watch other game reviews but Mike's always seem to be the most convincing. He was the one that made me wanna get dark souls! And I'm a huge fan of that game now. Do more reviews mike please. Start a UA-cam channel!
I just love that Q*bert curses! I'd love to see a port where he actually yells "fuck!" "dammit" or other curses but the classic 2600 port with overhauled graphics and you would still see the @#&% but you would hear the curse! That would be classic!
Mike seems to be doing way more reviews than James, this is not a complaint, I just wonder what the nerd has got cooking in the background since we're not seeing much
I used to play Q*bert games once in a while long ago, but I've been wanting to get back into it. I'm happy they released a new one just recently (on PS3/PS4, etc.), but it seems it's not all that good. Maybe I'll check it out sometime, though... Can anyone tell me what they think of it?
Hey Mike, please review "Defender II" for the Atari 2600. It's really great and a big improvement over the first Defender, much closer to the arcade version.
I own Q-Bert on everything from Atari Jr. to Playstation 4. The Dreamcast version is my fave.Much more worth it if you drop $100 for HD box/cables for the DC.
Q*bert 3 was a pretty fun game to play, but those damn backgrounds always end up confusing me because I end up pressing the wrong direction causing me to fall off the stage.
I love the original. the home ports are always hit or miss. It's a game that lives or dies by its controls. The original arcade version had a joystick which was mounted at a 90 angle. As far as home ports go I thought the Colecovision port nailed it. The control was perfect even with the bad Coleco controller. Q*bert III was awesome, but only with the right controller setting. I'm surprised Mike didn't even mention the NES Q*bert by Ultra Games (Konami). It's one of the worst controlling games. you sometimes have to press twice in one direction to get him to move. Once to have him change direction, and again to jump... It makes no sense!! ... ... ... The newest Q*bert game, Q*bert Rebooted, for PSN (and maybe others?) is pretty horrible. The control is bad and it ruines everything. They even include the original game and mess that up as well. It's really too bad thaT Sony removed their excellent PS3 port to make room for this. It played exactly like the original arcade version except it added smoother graphics and more vivid colors, plus online leadrrblards.
Does it take a lot to make "James and Mike mondays" since you make them every week? Do you do the recording on sunday or something like that? I'd like to know :D
Oh hey, it's Cubert, he was in Wreck-it Ralph, sorry Cubert and the Atari are older than me, so I didn't grow up with him, so I only know about him from Wreck-it Ralph, not my fault, I wasn't born in his year
Review Gundam Wing Endless Dual (AKA Shin Kidō Senki Gundam Wing: Endless Duel). I really think the only reason it's not remembered as of the all-time classics on the Super Nintendo/Super Famicom (as well as one of the best fighting games of its time) is that it was not released in the US or on arcade.
There was a Q-Bert on MSX computer by Konami that was this gameplay. But Q-Bert was a dinosaur. I always wondered why Konami made it a Dinosaur because then it cant be named Q-Bert anymore :(
Mike is the man. I'm glad to see he is doing more videos lately.
I'd like to do more as well. But I can only do them when I'm far enough ahead editing James & Mike Mondays. Thanks for watching!
-Mike

***** Here, take your fucking cookie, now go rant somewhere else, no one complained about him editing his videos.
Ghouse666 You on your period bro?
I really enjoy the James and Mike game play throughs. As much as originally subscribed to watch the AVGN videos, watching two ( and sometimes guests ) genuinely regular guys having a blast playing some old games is a blast. Thanks for all your hard work and efforts Mike.
Mike's Qubes are pretty decent, his Snake however...
Was telling my son about Q-Burt while watching wreck it ralph yesterday! Love the videos!
some years ago, people wanted mike to stop doing videos, because they wanted to see james instead (when he was doing the ET movie)
now that james is back, they ask mike to do more videos.
:VVVVVVV
PiaNO!
maybe they like him more because they know about his giant dick. :V
I was just thinking that while reading the praise for him. Now for some reason their loving his big dick!
Another great review Mike I'm looking forward to the next one.
Great Review Mike :) I'll probably check it out soon!
Caketake damn, way to take advantage of the username I made when I was seven
You should make a video with Lord Karnage
Love seeing another review Mike! Always do a great job, and honestly I have always liked the qbert Series.
I like the games as well
Q*Bert cursing in cartoon language since 1980s :p
Watching this makes me want to pull this back out and play it. :) I forgot about Q*bert. Nice review, Mike! It's nice to learn something new about a classic. I haven't seen this version before.

yay! Cinemassacre Mike, please continue to do these! They are awesome and I love you uploading them randomly it's like a surprise to make my week better! :D
Glad Mike's got own series going on on the channel.
I remember Qbert 3 for snes! my friend had it
I didn't think there was another Q*Bert game for the Atari 2600. Awesome review.
Hey Mike, did you hear about the brand new Q Bert game on PSN yet?
I heard of this game, but I never played it. Also I had countless amounts of card games, joke books and other random stuff of Q*Bert. At a time there was a ton of that stuff I found too as much as like Pacman or Super Mario Bros at one time later. I'll always love Q*Bert and Frogger.
Q*bert joke book? That I need.
- Mike
Sounds like a lot of neat stuff I'd like to have!
I really enjoy your reviews Mike, keep em coming! (I would like to see a few more Wii U reviews, it's always interesting hearing the thoughts of an old school Nintendo gamer regarding their current output)
I'm glad that lots of people start to like Mike already... Before, many people hated him for no reason, but now people like him for absolutely one reason..
always enjoy mike's reviews
Q Bert 3 for Snes is one of my favorite games of all time. Glad someone is giving it recognition.
I never even heard of this game until today. Thanks again for another awesome video.
Nice to see you producing some content Mike!
Q*Bert on the Sega Dreamcast was pretty fun as well. Plus, it had an adventure mode along with the original arcade mode.
I've never played Q bert in my life and I never knew how you played it but now I do.
I used to play Qbert on the Commadore. I never knew there were sequels. Nice video.
Oh god, that clip of PS1 Q*bert. I actually owned that game! Thanks for the memory, Mike!
Awesome video. Never even heard of this game but I love Q*bert. I'm gonna hunt down the coleco version for sure though.
Great video Mike. How do you feel about reviewing Kickle Cubicle??
Had qbert vaguely, in the back of my mind til watching this brought him front and center. Great review Mike, these vids are a blessing.
Time to go earn my cubes
thanks for doing these mike

Nice! Been playing the hell out of the qbert reboot on ps4. Love it!

Me and my film LOVED Qbert 3. I still play it every so often. It's the only Qbert I've ever played.
2:05 - sounds like great design doesn't it? It's like disabling the red color for a induction stove when the target temperature is reached. Just less dangerous.
Oh nice. This will definitely increase sales for Q*Bert.
I'd love to see another top 10 frome Mike, like the hidden gems ones, but something like his favorite games from a specific console or something like that.

Q*Bert also appears in Wreck It Ralph.
Cute crossover.

0:37 ..... this song took me 33 years back in time !!!
nice review...i need to ick this up for my arcade cabinet
Hey mike, I'd just like to know what makes the Atari 2600 your favourite console of all time? I mean I'm 31 and I even consider it a bit to old and dated.
NES was better than atari
Yeah sorry flash, you're on your own pal.
I think the NES had many more varied games than the master system. It would be hard to come up with a top 20 sms games but you could easily do it with the nes.
I think for a lot of people Atari felt more like an arcade experience due to its controls. Atari? Nintendo? Hell no, CD-I for life!
Mike could you please do a review for Solstice for the NES?
my dad brought home an old Q-Bert arcade cabinet back in the day... not sure what happened to it after it broke.
Qbert? Don't remember this...
I may watch other game reviews but Mike's always seem to be the most convincing. He was the one that made me wanna get dark souls! And I'm a huge fan of that game now. Do more reviews mike please. Start a UA-cam channel!

my new favorite mike quote=purple balls that he is trying to smash
I had Q*bert 3 and thinking it had the potential to be one of the 10 most obscure game made my day =)
Mike seems to be doing way more reviews than James, this is not a complaint, I just wonder what the nerd has got cooking in the background since we're not seeing much
Bear in mind James has a wife and daughter to take care of
That's true, but James has a wife and daughter so he may not be able to post as much videos as he would like
Me Soy yo
as well as a regular day job.
Ninjamohawk do u know what he does?
JustKeepFlying lol he released a fucking movie last year, and 12 episodes for Christmas, and y'all are talking like he's dead.
You probably should have shown and explained why you recommend the ColecoVision version.
Hey Mike, could you do a video on that Rubiks Cube game for Atari 2600?
Does this count as QBert 2?
You guys uploaded this video on the day that I made a video.
I used to play Q*bert games once in a while long ago, but I've been wanting to get back into it. I'm happy they released a new one just recently (on PS3/PS4, etc.), but it seems it's not all that good. Maybe I'll check it out sometime, though... Can anyone tell me what they think of it?
The qubert 3 backgrounds are like, the earthbound battle backgrounds
You say you have to match the cube at the top left to win. But when you win, you aren't matching. I don't get it.
Hey Mike, please review "Defender II" for the Atari 2600. It's really great and a big improvement over the first Defender, much closer to the arcade version.
Another example why I'm glad the genesis controller works on 2600
I have only ever played Q'bert through emulation but would love to play on an original arcade machine because of how the cabinet was built.
What's wierd is that Qbert 2 was a PC only game that never got ported- and Qbert 3 did!
Mike do you have your own channel
Remember q bert in family guy ? He would not leave Stewie alone lol
I own Q-Bert on everything from Atari Jr. to Playstation 4. The Dreamcast version is my fave.Much more worth it if you drop $100 for HD box/cables for the DC.
Great review mike I never really knew this existed. Any idea on when james will do another avgn video?
Q*Bert's Qubes? MORE LIKE PUBERT'S PUBES!!!
I've still got Q*bert for my Texas Instruments TI-99+.
Are there any Nerd episodes in the future?
Pov: Mike talks about the rubik’s cube and I look at the rubik’s cube besides me
13 dislikes - 13 inches, right?
And it keeps getting bigger!
"57 dislikes"
That's uncomfortably big!
91
EXIIPlays that's what she said?
No
4:32 : I never had this problem with the platforms.
Q*bert 3 was a pretty fun game to play, but those damn backgrounds always end up confusing me because I end up pressing the wrong direction causing me to fall off the stage.
I didn't think you were such an Atari fan Mike. Anyways, thanks for posing more lately! Don't forget nes, snes and genesis though.
Atari 2600 is probably my favorite game console. Though my favorite games of all time are early arcade games.
-Mike
Cinemassacre Thanks for the response. As you probably know I ment posting, not posing. Gotta love auto correct.
Cin do more avgn

Nice one man
Well mike did say that he has to edit it too
if only avgn videos came out at the same rate as these
Amazing review on this.
Is there any popular game that didn't have a show?
Really close to Q*bert's Pubes...
This was a good review.
I love Mike's reviews!
i remember on the NES version the controls are weird its not simply up dont the d pad is up down is down, its up is left down is right.
Oh hey, it's Cubert, he was in Wreck-it Ralph, sorry Cubert and the Atari are older than me, so I didn't grow up with him, so I only know about him from Wreck-it Ralph, not my fault, I wasn't born in his year
Come on, he spelled it for you in the fucking title..
I think mike would like cheese on his oat meal I put arm and hammer baking sodavin it so his bones to get strong
Never heard of this game. Thank Mike for the review

Make a review of the new captian toads tresure traker
There was a Q-Bert on MSX computer by Konami that was this gameplay. But Q-Bert was a dinosaur. I always wondered why Konami made it a Dinosaur because then it cant be named Q-Bert anymore :(
I heard Q*Bert 3 is one of the least produced SNES games. Don't feel bad if you can't find a copy!
Great review!
...Rubik's Cube for Atari?! That sounds hawt
