Hunt will contribute day 1 on special teams especially the new kickoff etc. His hands are more advanced than the project label would have you believe but the foot work & first step needs big time work but is all coachable. He can definitely get situational snaps & slide right into a rotation next year with elite coverage skills day one for a 3 - 4 edge which is valuable to fangio. Hes doesnt have elite bend & is high cut but hes also a 3rd round pick. If he played in the SEC he would have been a top 50 pick easily according to cosell

I think Saban stating that they tried to get Mitchell to transfer through to portal is telling at the level of his skill set

Dejean will probably play slot! Safety and outside CB in certain packages. I bet they find a way to get him on the field.

They are talking negatively about Hunt as a 3rd round developmental, however remember Nolan Smith turned out to be a 1st round developmental. So the logic doesn't stack up and IMO getting Hunt at 94 was an excellent pick (to be proven), because he has greatness in his dna.

Smith was a high caliber productive player at Bama. Your comparison holds no weight.

Howie definitely did great work with the draft. Howie didn't reach, no projects or something dumb, just great picks with solid potential to make a impact

Slay, Mitchell, DeJean, Maddox, Ringo, Ricks, Rodgers, McPherson. Even after Bradberry, there's still one or two difficult cuts to make.

As happy as I was getting Mitchell at #22, I wasn't impressed with getting DeJean or Hunt. Hunt is a Day 3 guy when you watch his tape -- he is extremely raw. DeJean can't play boundary CB in the NFL -- no way. Add that's he's a projection at safety. I liked Shipley a lot, then was underwhelmed again by Johnny Wilson. Ainias Smith is just okay. B- draft for me.
