If I remember correctly by then chief minister of Manipur was Mr. Moirang Koireng. He was very short sighted, only CM post loving and spineless to face GOI's dictatorial order. He and other Meitei leaders who were helpless or ill-informed in front of GOI by then might have also agreed to let this act passed in Indian Parliament in thinking that since Meitei were in huge majority by then in terms of population and number of MLAs, Meties will remain ruler technically in years to come which is in fact wrong because as number of tribal population increases the number of MLAs will have to increase according to Indian law. Or it could have been out of generosity from Meteis to tribes. Indian leaders of that time must have been in thinking of retaining the similar law that was originally adopted by then British ruler of Manipur after finally defeating Manipur in 1891 war. From those years itself Manipur’s raja’s control over hill areas had been snatched and was separately ruled by British. But now because of that terrible mistake of letting the MLR & LR Act, 1960 passed in the parliament, Meiteis have been suffering and will also suffer in future because legally these tribes are correct in what they are have been saying. And also those leaders from India tend to support these tribes because they also tend to see and interpret from this legal point of view without actually understanding the correct historical background and sensitivity. These tribes are saying that 90% of Manipur’s land belong to only 10% of population which does not make any sense from any rational point of view. This 90% of Manipur’s land which these tribes are claiming to be their was historically protected by much more stronger and powerful Meitei kings since 33AD from any other external forces without which these tribes would have been either being a part of Myanmar or Assam or Mizoram by now. Manipuri leaders could have abolished then law of separate rule of hill areas after Manipur got independence from British on August 14, 1947 or during those period before September 1949 when Manipur was never a part of India. But Meiteis leaders failed to take that important decision because they were happy, busy in trying to capture positions or short sighted as usual. Not only these logic but also there is question of why these tribes want to possess the entire 90% of land exclusively when they already have their own property such as land to build their houses and to do cultivation for their living etc. In true sense nobody lives forever. But when these people live why don’t they live in peace and in happiness with others as also propounded by their own religion too.

Alternative arrangement pending GOI-IM talk, Separation from the GOM, Never Separate our land: These demands of UNC are difficult to be attended by any govt., be it at Imphal or New Delhi. New Districts do not necessarily take land from a particular community, the land ownership remains the same to its owners whether it is in one district or another. Administrative advantage and progressive development of the state and its people are duties of the state govt. So, did Ibobi do the right things by taking an executive decision or violate state rule without discussing MLAs in the hill area committee. These are questions. Or, did Ibobi used political mileage against BJP in New Delhi for the coming election to keep his power in Manipur assembly? Ibobi also knows that the people in the new districts will support him, as demands for these new districts by people in these areas have been known for decades. Now the two sides are logger jammed. Nonetheless, whether BJP or Congress comes to power at Imphal, both will stick to their agenda that Manipur territorial integrity can't be compromised as majority of voters demand. That is the hard pill for UNC to digest. UNC and IM's agenda for disintegration of Manipur and formation of South Nagaland will still be the issue in this election. How many MLAs can win by NFP, Congress and BJP in the hills or by Congress and BJP in the valley. That is the politics to be decided in March, 2017. UNC dont know the meaning of State or Manipur.It is not the state of Nagas.If it is in the sense of Nagas there is a land called Nagaland. Manipur is a State inhibited by many communities and different ethenic groups never belongs to anybody.There should not be any seperate demarkation of lands for a particular group.Nonsense talking.How many concession do the Nagas wants from Manipur.1.They want a seperate home land called Nagalim by demarking their seperate territories.2.They want to intimidate the people of Manipur under the background support from the NSCN IM directly to the people of Manipur and indirectly to the GOM. 3. They want to occupy maximum space in the land of Manipur to every aspect with no definite demands.Do UNC dont have anyoption or any means rather than torsion,arson and blockade in order to achieve their final goal of seperate Naga State by self demarkation of lands being a part of a step towards achievement.It is not a democratic protest,it is a inhuman and violent protest.
