- The Brownville Food Pantry For Deer feeds approximately 400-500 pounds per day of native oats (local) to help sustain the white-tailed deer population through rough winters here in central Maine. Feeding happens daily around 09: 00 (9 AM) Eastern Standard Time starting December 16 and continues to the beginning of April. These are wild deer and this is not a deer farm. Some of the deer have been coming for more than 10 years including a piebald deer with more white markings than a normal white-tailed deer. At times there are 100 to 200 deer at the pantry. Wild turkeys also come and eat the native oats along side the deer. At times you may see up to 100 wild turkeys at once. There is no Chronic Wasting Disease, or CWD in wild deer in Maine. Please dont complain about it in chat. These deer are all very healthy and there has never been any type of disease spread among these deer. This "Yarding" of deer happens in Maine every winter, even if they were not being fed.

Little guy is like “wait?! Did I win?!l lol
Omg lol😂😂😂😂😂😂!
😂
Big guy,up front.
Wait! Did I miss something?!
Just found your channel. When I was a kid in the 60s we would see the deer in the back yard. Sometimes Mom would wake us early and quietly tell us to peek out the back window in the kitchen. We would watch for a few minutes as they ate from our garden. Then Mom would go out the side porch and tell them they had enough and leave us some. Thank you for sharing. Subscribed.
He was back this morning bullying others. He would be feeding at one trough and if someone came up to a trough several troughs away, he would move there and run them off. A doe was also doing that, she would move towards another doe at a trough, lower her head, lay her ears back and intimidate the other doe to leave. Very interesting to watch their behavior.
Usually the older ones will do this regardless. Just how their hierarchy works.
It's funny how deer are always surprised when they lose an antler.
Have you heard one pop off before? The sound is amazing and echoes in the woods.
@@_Chessa_ lol I've only heard it via video, but notice the shock in their expression. Beats when two bucks get tangled up and even die that way. It's distressing as hell to see: mondo design flaw, imo.
(Seemingly cogent point to bring up with Whoever's in Charge in the afterlife.)
They are so cute
Love them ❤️
When you're a level 100 player but make a blunder allowing a noob to win.
So, the buck stops here? I'll show myself out....
😂
Awesome keep up The Great Stuff folks 👍 🦌👍

Wow ......lots of bucks losing antlers early in the season this year… That's 2 I've seen in the last few days
I found an antler shed a couple days ago. I usually don’t start finding them till February..
Hahah run of shame! So funny!
This is what happens when you eat too much apples - your antlers get too weak.. 🤭🤭
Thank you for feeding and caring for the deer!! *DO THEY HAVE A WATER SOURCE??*
Yes
Deer don't need water they survive off of food alone. I seen it on a movie.
@@lordkiza8838 Then why do they drink out of my heated water bowl? Deer need to consume water and food at about a 3-to-1 ratio. If they can’t find enough water, they won’t eat, and if they don’t eat, the nutritional gap stunts growth and increases stress.
@@BrownvillesFoodPantryForDeer THANK YOU for providing a water source!!

Can I buy some sheds?
Meanwhile the four point is standing there thinking, where'd ya go bro?
looks like the buck was limping pretty good when it ran off, wonder if it was wounded?
Kinda. I’ve been told that the shedding of antlers on male deer can stun and cause pain for some. It shouldn’t be immense pain but it’s enough for them to feel it. When they grow back in it’s an intense itchiness once they are fully velvet and it becomes cooler weather for the velvet to start shedding off. It’s so intense they rub it off raw and it’s bloody and messy and doesn’t look too pretty it looks gruesome. Antlers continue to itch until they begin shedding off once again. The sound of one popping off their head is magical.
@@_Chessa_ antlers falling off wouldn't make the deer be limping like that, he was gimping pretty good like he was wounded.
@@joe-lw6tk It’s very possible that it’s a deer that was here last year that everyone called Limpy bc he walked with a limp leg. We never knew if he was a buck or not bc he/she had no antlers at the start of feeding season. The deer that ran away after his antler fell off could be Limpy and we’d never know if, so that could explain why he looked a bit gimpy, but don’t take my word for it bc Idk for sure if it’s Limpy or not, no one does
@@joe-lw6tk yeah I noticed the big limping too. I don’t imagine the shedding would make a deer limp. Jump oddly yes, but not limp. So definitely may have been injured.
@@_Chessa_... totally untrue. They don't itch
It seems like there's less deer. Is someone else close by feeding them also? We enjoy watching your channel.
You're right, there is not as many. Not that I'm aware of. No snow makes a big difference of when they yard up.
How often are sheds found around the trough?
I saw it happen twice last year when I checked in
Too Funny!!!
Do you guys sell shed antlers? I’m a big fan of the channel and I’d love to buy one to commemorate
My grandson saves them. Stay safe
@@BrownvillesFoodPantryForDeer that is so wonderful! What a fantastic keepsake for him! Thank you for all of your hard work :)
@@BrownvillesFoodPantryForDeer How many does he need? lol
Wow...popped off that easy..
Is this Canada or in northern u.s.
Maine. Stay safe.
You guys ever get any predators on the video that show up?
I don't get how feeding them in the open troughs works with rain , sleet , snow & the elements without messing up the feed 🌽 ???
Too wet, toss it out. Stay safe.

We need more wolves to take care of these overpopulated deer. More wolves and less ranchers and trophy hunters killing them. Those wolf killers need life in prison for killing endangered species.
Congrats for making the dumbest comment.
Look. I love animals, don't eat them, old rescue person here, but life in prison is off the hook.
dogs would love chewing on that, just cut it into straight pieces
"Shame"? "Bullying"? Deer aren't people. This is how deer behave. Projecting human feelings and motives and emotions onto them is absurd.
Lighten up a little dude. This stream has been running for a long time now and lots of people know the deer and how they act around other deer. This deer would be aggressive towards other deer at the troughs, so, they refer to him as a bully. And the walk of shame is just what they call the buck after it loses a fight with another buck. It isn't supposed to be taken literally, so please, just relax a bit man.
I bet you're a blast at parties John.
@@rodbelding9523 he has a point
