im really glad he hasnt quit youtube to go twitch full time, i actually dont watch any of his stream i wait for them to be uploaded to youtube and i watch these videos too, so im very glad. even though his views went from like the millions to only a couple thousand

@@ruinfox4108 Streaming has gone to shit, really. It used to be just people talking while doing stuff, but now it's nothing but constant interruptions, either due to donation alerts, or the streamer thanking for donations.
To me, it feels like it's gotten to where it's literally worse than ads, and is why I stopped watching all streamers years ago.

This game calculates a majority of things on the GPU. Even things like AI. GPUs are really fast at simple calculations. And since the AI are pretty simple you can get really high numbers. It also makes eeextensive use of instanced rendering. Where many of the same models are rendered as one to save performance.
It's all stuff that's been possible for years but not done by anyone.
I just wanna take a moment to appreciate how you don't hear the sound of the nukes til the shockwave actually reaches the camera. So many games and movies and stuff nowadays seem to forget that sound is slower than light, so it's always a good detail to see
Dude pools of blood when many men die. Blast waves with explosions. Water colour purple when mixed with blood. So many cool details.
As soon as he said "1 million" I added it to my wishlist.
Will I ever have a rig powerful enough? Unlikely.

When I saw the bodies flying through the air via a nuke in slow motion, that is the key moment when I knew that I had to buy this game
Imagine if this dev team and the Teardown dev team worked together and made UEBS3 with destructable terrain.
that wouldnt work, teardown is a game surrounded about voxels, but uebs have realistically modeled characters you cant put voxel destruction in a game without voxels lmao
This game's optimization hack is only applicable to millions of entities with a makeup that is similar and simple with a generally united function.
To those replying: Obviously this would then necessitate UEBS3 to be voxel based. Duh.

I've heard that all the units are actually calculated properly. Normally, these kinds of games will approximate what would happen whenever the camera is turned away to keep going, but the mad tech wizards behind this game are using the GPU to do a lot of the heavy lifting. It's madness, I tells you!

Man, I just wish Dan did one battle where he didn't interfere with it all. Especially one like the tanks v orcs. The thing about having ranged units fight melee units is that the ranged units are going to have an advantage in the beginning, when they're able to combine all their firepower, but as soon as they start taking losses, their ability to output damage is gonna start to go down, and go down quickly. The kills the melee units are gonna get is gonna increase exponentially. It's actually pretty interesting from a game theory aspect
That's something I was thinking, especially when it turned into, who will win: these guys, or these others where I delete half their troops with Nukes or force them to abandon their strategies?
Was wishing for that as well honestly.

The only thing I wish Matt did was mention a timestamp, tone, or time to skip ahead to, for avoidance of the flash things, but since it's relatively inconsistent, it kinda makes sense. Hopefully flash avoidences can be a feature for Sponsorblock for those that use it.

My favourite thing about Dan is that he can showcase literally any game bad or good, and always make it interesting. It’s a talent to make any game seem interesting enough to make me want to see a never-ending series on it.

A part of me really wants to know whether the Tesla&Cleopatra vs. 40000 Chicken fight was winnable if you take control of the AI and choose to hold the choke points at the pyramids. Maybe split it so there's 50 of each at each entrance, Tesla in the front line and Cleo at range, or put each group at a different gate and see if one line breaks before the other.

In my opinion this game gets old very quickly. The reason I _love_ it is because it is a proof of concept for the unused potential of the GPU. The trick to running this obscene number of AIs at once is to not run the AI logic on the CPU, which even on the high end only had a dozen or so cores, but on the GPU which even at the low end will have thousands of cores. If more devs could think outside the box like this, who knows where gaming could go.
