- On Saturday, August 15th, 2015 the Nature Discovery Center broke ground for Phase II Construction of the Gateway Project. More info www.naturediscoverycenter.org/gateway
This phase of the project involves renovations to the one acre of Russ Pitman Park immediately surrounding the Center. NDC Director Henry Owen and Bellaire City Councilman Roman Reed addressed the gathered guests before symbolically removing bricks from the pavilion patio. Volunteers from the Leading Ladies and the Houston Area Youth Council on Service were on hand to carry out an impressive brick removal project following the ceremony. These bricks were saved and cleaned in preparation for engraving and installation in a new entrance walkway from Newcastle.
