Today was paced out, but FULL.
It's finally the day Matty becomes part of the flock and introduced to the milk machine... HE IS A PRO!!
My pregnancy toxemia ewe that I treated prior to lambing surprised us with our first set of QUINTUPLET LAMBS! (now wonder she went down...)
We vaccinated our ewe lambs across the road with their Clostridial booster which means they are officially our replacement ewes for 2023!
A ewe gave us a fright with seeing only head first... we had another set of quads...
AND FRECKLES IS IN LABOUR!!

Seeing Matty curled up with the other lambs was like watching your kid playing so nicely with other children, and thinking, "Yeah, you're going to be fine... I won't, but you will, and that's what's important." ❤

I was laughing so much at mattie. He was so loud lol as if he was saying “mommy answer me, I don’t want to be here, get me out”. The more he was ignored, the louder he got. Absolutely hilarious.
it makes me so happy to see matty with the nanny but kind of sad at the same time. but also seeing him with all the other little babies just fills my heart with so much joy. finally getting to be a lamb 🥲🥰
Look at that, you saved SIX lives in one! From a rough start with the preg tox mamas to the happiest of endings. You should be proud, your hard work did all of that! Another suggestion for the babies struggling with body temp: mylar emergency blankets. They do so well at holding and reflecting heat back. Matty is a darling, can't wait to see him playing with the other little lambs. Fingers crossed your itty bitty keeps improving as well!
I think she has to take the same precautions as with a human baby though, nothing that could suffocate the infant?
If she had to treat them like a human baby, they wouldn't be in a container with enclosed sides and blankets/towels. Lambs don't have the same facial shape as a human that would make something like a properly cut mylar blanket a suffocation hazard. You can cut it to size and put it in a zippered pillowcase to avoid issues.
What a complete success story, 2.9 having 5 lambs. You deserve a metal. Your our hero!!!! What beautiful lambs.🥰🥰🥰🥰

Matty has taken to being with his mates quite well. Wondering how long the little black one will take to get back with her mom. I have started calling her Milly, just so she has a name until you give her one! That sweater is a Godsend!

I just have to laugh…when Freckles was giving birth, some of those lamb calls were hysterical! Some gentle, some screeching, some just yelling for attention. Just like human kiddos! 💗💗💗

I feel all the feels when Sandi says “You did that” so emphatically and emotionally to the new moms when their baby comes out.
Your dedication and nurturing attitude towards your beings, 2 and 4 legged, is a joy to watch. I'm sure it's awkward talking to the camera but it feels like we are there with you. I just hope you know we have you're back and think you're great.
I was literally LOLing at Matty's bellowing while you were assisting Freckles with her lambs. He definitely has a distinct, identifiable bleating compared to the others. It's obnoxious while being adorable all in one, if that's even possible! Too cute 😂

When people say things like I needed this video, I struggle to really understand. But today I needed this video. It's so amazing how much love and work is put into saving, raising, and sustaining their lives.

It's good that she is somewhere that appreciates her too! So many places don't acknowledge the workers who naturally have good work ethic, they just take more advantage of them. Carissa is dearly loved by Sandi and her family and she loves to sing praises of Carissa, lmao, she knows she's a keeper!

Can't decide what's more satisfying - hearing his little "baa" get so much stronger or Matty's tail waggling after he latched on to the nanny. Your electric hoof-trimmers - I just emailed the Assiniboine Zoo in Wpg suggesting they use those on their tinhorn sheep. Love you, Clarissa & your lambs sooo much!! Happy to see that Freckles has a healthy set of twins. She has been one of my favorites for quite a while. Also glad to see that the preg tox ewe gave birth. Wow, 5 living lambs! Are you OK with it birthing so many babies? In all the years I have followed not yet has anyone told me how they birth so many time after time. It is not normal and very hard on the momma's.
Who else is depressed to see the bye at the end, you could do with a five minute warning that the video is ending so we can prepare ourselves to go back to reality. I totally am transfixed! Love love love your caring heart, you are a very special soul x

It's amazing to see how much more prolific these ewes are when bread naturaly. And also amazing to see how much Sandy has learnt about keeping lambs alive that are struggling or need a little extra care, and to see her put it into practice. Sandy you're doing great!

Oh WOW, Matty took to the Nanny like a PRO! Glad to see him doing so well. I would love to see an update on his weight since he was so little when he was born. Mama of the 5 was looking like "Oh Lord, what have I done" while Sandi was asking if she was feeling better after delivering all those babies. She probably wishes they were all back inside her instead of 5 to take care of. I know I would be! Lol! 🥰 🐑🤍🐑🖤🐑
I think this is my favorite episode ever that I have watched. Loved seeing Matty sleeping with her new friends. And that little Billy lamb is the most precious thing.

I have always wondered if the word for mother in many languages is "Ma" or "Moma" because of the very ancient practice of sheep farming. They were after dogs in domestication.

None of us know when we will die: the fittest athlete in the world can trip on the stairs and die. The important thing is finding joy where and how you can every day. I must admit though, chronic pain sucks, and it does drag one down (ask me how I know). But I am so glad that Sandi's good heart is helping you, and I hope with all my heart you find many more joys in the days ahead.

I let my 8 year old grand daughter watch this before she had to go to bed since she has school in the morning; she absolutely loves it.
I was thinking about your great example of a loving, caring shepherd. Then a story came to my email this morning. . . . A local pastor joined a community service club, and the members thought that they would have some fun with him. Under his name badge they printed "Hog Caller" as his occupation. Everyone made a big fanfare as the badge was presented. . . . The pastor responded by saying, "I usually am called the 'shepherd of the sheep'... but you know your people better than I do." Of course, I thought of Sandi Brock right away. She is the only shepherd that I know of, beside "The Good Shepherd". . . . and yes, I have a number of relatives who raised hogs. . . . I am not trying to "pull the wool over your eyes". 😊

I watched your video with my husband who works on a dairy farm and is in charge of the calves, he was so impressed at how caring and loving you are with all your sheep and lambs. Great job on the incubator. I fostered newborn kittens and puppies and put together something similar. It's amazing what a little heat will do.

Looks like this group of lambs numbers are going to be around 3.1 or 3.2 lambs per ewe.
All the ewes are having triplets or more this breeding season.
The babies are adorable, and it's awesome seeing SO many lambs! My favorite time of the season is babies.
Edit: I said that then momma freckles at the end only had 2 lambs. Lol

If sheep are anything like people, the more babies the earlier they lamb. There will probably be more twins and singles in the coming days. Or Sandy is a breeding GODESS and will prove me wrong!
