Stuck In A Tiny Off-Grid Cabin During A Blizzard

  • This is a longer version of my trip to the cabin. I went out to my off-grid cabin to check on it. We've had two whiteout blizzards in two days and negative forty temperatures. Little did I know that another blizzard would hit and I'd be stuck at the cabin until the backroads could be plowed. Backroads are susceptible to bad snowdrifts because of the open prairies and rural location. These drifts will make the road Impassable to the average vehicle and aren't a priority for plowing. I made roasted duck in my clay oven and crepes on the woodstove I split firewood and kindling then loaded up the woodstove and went to bed. In the morning I had breakfast, split more wood, collected snow to melt and did the dishes. I also washed the dish towels before packing up. I decided to walk to see how the roads were.

What a great video Ken! Thank you. I watched it both times, the original and the director's cut lol. Hope you get out there again soon. PS: the duck and crepes looked amazing. Perfect blizzard cabin food.

Sry someone ransacked the cabin. That’s a real violation of an old code. I’m half-way through a build in the U.P. and it’s unsettling to think about. Your channel is a solid find. Liking the pace.
