- At SynthFest France 2024, Romain of Kiviak Instruments showcased the pre-production model of the upcoming Wofi Keyboard sampler. It's almost ready, and shipping will start very soon.
Wofi is a keyboard sampler that resembles a subtractive Synthesizer. However, it's also a keyboard sampler with various vintage sampler modes, filters, envelopes, sequencers, granular FX processors, and more.

What a phenomenal period currently to be working with sound. This device is real neat. Great form factor that strikes a thoughtful balance between compact portability yet programmability and playability with useful features. Like an upgraded pro version of Korg MicroSampler, but less Mad Max and more Modern Euro in aesthetics. I like the grungy sounds! I wanna hear Ensoniq Mirage levels of grunge.
I’m officially gonna call it Woofy from now on. These guys mean business, love how he mentioned they are already planning to add more envelopes simply because people requested it. Seems they move at lightning speed. Looking forward to mine.
lol my friend had a ragdoll cat named Woofy.
Looks solid, it seems like a file browser for a USB drive would be an easy firmware update to allow imports of samples without a computer. The sound demo was great! It seems like this will have to compete with the wave of hardware granular synths coming out this year, but has a broader scope.
Dang, that price jump actually makes it no longer an option for me. Damn, i was really looking forward to this too
This looks like a great keyboard. I love the design on it. It's sort of futuristic but retro. Wish I'd backed it on kickstarter! Interesting to know why he abandoned USB. Maybe noise.....
yeah, they had noise issues with the USB power
Интересный приборор!
Is there any control of the start point? This very important for the sound design
yes, you can edit audio, chose start and stop point on the machine ;)
@@kiviakinstruments9665 but for example using one of the faders for the start point over writting the atack fader for example? I feel start point used especially in conjunction with the record modulation of the sequencer can be a powerful thing

I didn't know this ;) there is an index with the chapers :)
@@synthanatomywho has the time for indexes
how much external audio can it record and live loop?
up to 18 minutes of audio on the internal chip memory. You can buy additional memory cards (10€+/-) for more space with disk streaming.
une machine qui fait pouet pouet
what this instrument can do that other samplers on the market can't? I think the market is so saturated with so many products it will be tough to cut through the ones already established (Maschine, Digitakt, AKAI, etc). Sorry but I cannot spot anything interesting here, samplers in 90s were doing this and better, 800 bucks, it's not cheap for a newcomer sampler. I missed info about polyphony, multitimbral and memory...
it was a Kickstarter campaign, so it's 100% financed so don't worries ;) It's comparable with the concept of a Casio SK-1 but in modern. So it's a sampler Synthesizer and not a groovebox like the Maschine, Digitakt or so. It's very direct and hands-on. Don't know many samplers on the market that does the same thing in this "on the fly" approach. With the Maschine, Digitakt, etc. I have more menu diving. It has 10-voice polyphony, 18 minutes of memory but expandable with the 10€ memory card which has the same chip on it. Not multi-timbral but multi-sample support is a feature that consider adding in the future. Cheers
Womp womp it was like 300 cheaper on the kickstarter. Its a MK2 Casio Sk-1. Casio SK-1 never wanted to be a MPC or Digitakt.
I think it will be more usable than the Chompi, even if it’s not an MPC keys. I backed the Kickstarter and really look forward to it, but probably wouldn’t pay 800.
@@matszhoh no!! I should have gotten one from the Kickstarter
I guess I'll never own this. I wouldn't pay 800. I would but an MPC for that much
Let the ASR-10 rest in peace as the King man. We don't want this.
who's "we"? Got a turd in your pocket?
We want this
