    Just went from a Volkswagen GLI with the 6 speed manual transmission to a Scat pack with the 6 speed. It’s night and day. With the GLI, the throw was long, the clutch was incredibly light, the stick was extremely smooth. Had to give it gas up to roughly 1500 RMP to get the car moving and would not start from a stop in 2nd gear. The scat pack, has a nice notchy, short throw, a heavy stiff clutch, and so much power that it is not necessary to preload with some gas to get the car moving, in addition to it being able to start up from 2nd gear. I love this transmission

      Yes. Totally agree with you on all accounts. The 6 speed is exactly how it should be. It’s amazing. Thanks for watching

    It is heavy, but that suits the feel of the car. The shift itself is also satisfyingly clunky - it's really nicely thought out. It's still not as heavy as a clutch that's actually connected physically to a clutch plate though, in my experience...

    Traded in a 2018 accord 6 spd a few days ago for a 19 shaker rt. Big difference on clutch feel. Definitely more heavy duty but he got it right on the money. If you've been driving manual recently it's not much of an issue. This is a big boy car, expect to drive it like one.

    I love my 6-speed manual, however, it tends to be quite noisy inside the cabin, if you cruise with closed windows and no radio compering with auto, but I like to drive with the windows halfway down to enjoy the active exhaust :-)

      Do you get a little bit of clunking when engaging or disengaging the clutch going from 1st to 2nd and to 3rd? I have a 2020 that I just picked up and im hearing some of that. Almost like something is loose in the trunk. Also has quite a vibration in the shifter on the highway if I let off the throttle in 6th gear

    I do have an issue taking off in first, I came from an 1993 f350 with a heavily built clutch to go with the diesel engine, also, the clutch doesnt seem to offer much feedback that I can feel. My 05 Volvo had a super light clutch, I could toe in the gears lol.

How much is it like the mustang gt v8 clutch? I believe its made by he same company...how do they compare. Not sure about the Mustang GT. I have read they are stiffer. I will say though it has a great feel for when the clutch engages and smooth shifts are easy. It look me a week to to get used to it but once you do you’ll appreciate the stiffer clutch. 6Ms are very hard to find at the dealer. I had to special order mine. I was fortunate enough to find a base RT local to test drive. Good luck. You won’t regret it.

    I found the clutch on my 392 SRT (2012) to be perfect at least in my case, it's got a short throw, starts grabbing almost instantly and it's easier than the other two "muscled' cars", the Camaro is okay grabs midway, the Mustangs clutch is just ridiculous, the throw is too long for me and it grabs up top...and being only 5'7 I had to sit (Pardon the pun) Side saddle, hope to get a 2015-2018 SRT 392 soon after this Pandemic, nice how they improved the shifter in these cars now, I used to get 2nd gear lock out/grinding which may have been due to the Shift Lock out .

    I have the 2021 scat pack manual, I keep hearing that the automatic is faster. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm a experience old school muscle car manual transmission. I dont believe that the automatic computer shifts faster, but I believe that it's the driver and the manual transmission the driver has the control, and with a experienced driver with total control, is much faster, for one reason the automatic depends on the computer that has safety features. but I argue that a human experience manual driver, is faster then the inexperienced automatic driver? what do you think?

    • @BurnseysRT

      I have had a 2016 Charger RT Road and track with 3.07 gears and 8 speed auto and it would easily beat my Challenger RT with the 6 speed manual. These 8 speed automatics are just that good. I now have a Charger scat pack with the 8 speed and it’s mighty impressive. If you are talking straight line I feel the auto would win however the auto will NEVER touch the same driving experience as a 6M. These 6M are just amazing and having that control is everything.

    Could you explain what the parking brake situation is on the manual challengers, i really wish it was a hand brake, but as far as i see, its not a foot parking brake either, is it a little handle on the left side of the footwell area? is it still mechanical or is it electric?

    • @BurnseysRT
      @BurnseysRT  4 роки тому +2

      Hi there actually is a foot pedal. I wish there was a hand brake as well. The Challengers (not sure if it’s all years) have hill assist which engages the brakes if you are on an incline. It will engage if your feet are on the clutch and brake which helps when you are on an incline. It will disengage once the clutch starts grabbing so even on good inclines you’ll only roll back a foot or two. It helps you not freak out when someone doesn’t give you much space at a stoplight on a hill.

    • @BurnseysRT
      @BurnseysRT  3 роки тому

      I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Since the Shaker 6M is newer you should have hill assist. Go into the settings and you should find it there and make sure it is turned on. If it senses you on a hill and you have your foot on the brake and clutch and you are in gear ... when you take your foot off the brake it should hold you and not allow you to roll back for about 5 seconds. It should keep you from rolling until the clutch starts grabbing.

      If you are interested in why I got the 5.7 check out my video below. But to answer your question. I feel that any true car enthusiast always wants more power. Whether that’s to buy the next trim up or mod what you have. This is my 4th 5.7. I have had 3 chargers and a challenger now. If I lived in a rural area you bet your @$$ I’d have a 392. I choose the 5.7 because of my situation. The video below will explain that more. Thanks for checking out the video and dropping a comment. Appreciate it.

      No bother at all. No worries ask away. I have not. I will say though I have only had my 3 chargers between 30-35,000 miles each. Within that time never had any warranty repairs ever. A couple recals but that is it. Not a test of time on any of these but they seemed rock solid no doubt. I always hear people talking about the reliability of the 5.7 and they are bulletproof. Especially when comparing with the 6.4. Hope this helps.

      I have a 5.7L and love it. However. You won't be winning any races. It's a heavy car--5.7L is the minimum bar in my head and I couldn't imagine getting this car in a V6. Cars with less horse power can beat it in a dig because of the weight alone. Especially when they're automatic and you're driving manual.

    I'm a manual purist, all my cars have been manual, i refuse to drive automatics and my left leg was not only sore, but also cramping after i got my RT, my left calf got significantly bigger after a little while too lol.
    That being said, that tremec transmission is the worst pos transmission ever, I'm not exaggerating. I get that it is designed to put up with more power and rough shifting and all that bs, but they made a terrible transmission in the process. Clutch is not only very stiff, but it's also pretty long and with the torque of the Hemi it makes for some slow shifting and on top of that they went the extra mile and added the 2 most idiotic mods ever put on a sports car (let alone a muscle car) a skip shift and a clutch valve delay, allegedly for "fuel efficiency" because everyone who buys a muscle car is thinking about freaking milage!!.... Before i found out about those 2 mods i almost burn the transmission multiple times, after i kept trying to pull it into gear after it locked me out AND i almost get into multiple accidents because it either went into the wrong gear, or it completely locked me out. After some mods and practice i got it down, but it is still the worst transmission I've ever driven.

      Both the rt and the 6.4 basically have the same amount of ft/lbs of torque which make them feel similar when driving. I think the rt is better for the price given but personal preference for sure!!

      I have a Charger Scatpack now. The 6.4 is pretty amazing I gotta say
