Bulan is one of the 7 moon gods and siblings in the Philippines folklore. Bakunawa is a sea serpent who managed to swallow 3 of the moon gods. Haliya saved Bulan from Bakunawa and Bulan saved Haliya. One other moon god. Libulan, lived with his lover, another male deity. There are several variations of the folklore. In the myth, eclipse happens when Bakunawa tries to swallow the moon. Bakunawa is said to be defeated by means of loud noises, hence the music being louder than Felip's voice in the first verse.
