"I'm blessed to have some of the world's best parents. So many efforts made every day to constantly support my sister and I, and I'm forever thankful. You see though, lately I've been going through a big change in my life. I'm getting married. So naturally I've started to hypothetically think of the day I have a kid of my own, which disclaimer: is far down the road. But nonetheless, I think about it. This song is about both me as a kid and also me as a father. One of my big worries is trying to live up to how great my parents were while also not making the same little mistakes or trying to just do better. My mom told me the other day, "Parenting is hard and sometimes you're gonna fuck it up." But nobody really truly teaches you that. We all learn from each other. So now that I'm in a metaphorical treehouse of my own, I hope one day I can be a good parent, like mine were to me."
