- In today’s video we are joined by Ed from Greencable. He runs us through the process of a collection; from start to finish. Overall, it was very interesting to see how this new service for trade pros works. Transparency is clearly a priority for Greencable with everything explained very clearly, along with photos taken of everything they collect and weigh, as well as super competitive pricing.

any SWA over 3m length is worth 5 x scrap value as a proper cable - put in on market place FB and will be gone straight away. Madness to scrap decent usable cable
Idk if the UK is different but I'd seriously never recommend selling any scrap cable on marketplace. I did once and then for about a year I had some dirty crackhead who would then rock up to my house randomly every few months asking if I had scrap copper. I'd tell him to f off and then a few days later the shed would mysteriously be broken into.
Why on earth are you scrapping new drums of flex!!??... and decent lengths of SWA? That's not scrap, that's perfectly usable stock.
I think it might of been old colours, Adam wasn't too clear, but that's my guess. Or it might of been brittle where left for so long, but unlikely.
@@michaeljarcher old colours in flex? That would have to be some VERY old cable lol. Flex has been brown, blue plus earth for as long as I can remember. It didn't look that old.
@@michaeljarcher I was curious when you mentioned the old colours so I just checked and although I think most of us know the fixed wiring colours changed in the mid 2000's, from red/black to brown/blue, flex colours have been brown/blue since the 70's.
thinking exactly the same thing😂 maybe he rarely uses swa and would rather a tenner lol
Nice video, Adam. Very informative. Good energy.
Glad you enjoyed it!
They need to start operating down south!

AT LEAST A £1 LESS THAN YARDS
Cracking video Adam, signed up and bin has been delivered 👍🏻
Legend!
nice edition video on scraping wire a save way
but would you get more money if some of it was stripped for clean copper i you had time to do it.
Definitely you’d earn more if you had the time to strip cable however that compared to sparky hourly wage is non comparable
do you think collecting cat5/6 cable is worth it?
100% you get paid household cable price for that
@@ednash3571 been missing out big time then 🥲
@@ednash3571 That probably only for solid core though, not the multi-strand?
@@elminster8149 Solid core will carry a Single Core Cable rate (around £1 per kilo more than Household Cable). The Multi-Strand/Core CAT cable carries the standard Household Cable rate and we collect an awful lot of it! 👍
My local scrap yard pays nearly £2 a kg for my scrap data cable. Just cut any plugs/sockets off and bag it.
