- Just a little bit of fun. Did a couple of (rough) calculations and worked out that this is how LNER A4 Pacific steam locomotive no. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley would be like if she was doing 100mph in steam days. Sir Nigel Gresley holds the official post-war speed record for steam traction of 112 mph on the 23rd of May 1959 with an SLS Railtour, and even though her sister 'Mallard' broke the official world speed record of steam of 126mph, Sir Nigel Gresley is in revenue earning service on the main line and can be seen for all generations to admire.
I hope you like the video. Feel free to like, comment, and subscribe for more Steam action from Full Steam Ahead.
What does it matter what speed it is or isn't attaining, it's just a joy watching her in action......
Truth matters.
It's just put there as click bait to get more views. A bit pathetic really
Great effects - certainly gives a perspective of what it would have looked like in full flow.
Good ol' Sir Nigel Gresley. She never fails to impress.

@@the-bananatrain You call the engine a he, I call the engine a she. It makes no difference, whether we think of SNG as being male or female. We're all different.
Thank you for your brilliant video i saw it today at our local station wigan northwestern just fantastic regards kevin😊
Even if it's not at the century mark, it is certainly hauling ass!
Nice video, many thanks for posting it 👍
Speed it up 4 times and make it do 200 mph and you’ll have broken the world steam record twice ! 🥰
The 100 mph that the LNER A4 achieves Sir Nigel Gresley explains why in Thomas and friends Spencer was able to achieve great speeds
It isnt a theory when they regularly run 75 - 90 mph
@@polandballrbx9954, but they don’t regularly run at 75-90 !
Nice looking train ❤
Speed of the video is like 2 X faster !
Fantastic machine 👌
Brilliant
This' is probably the closest u can get of reimaging of the Pacifics ran in their prime
Amazing sight 😲👍
Awsome
Why does the video look so sped ip
It is sped up. In reality it's going much slower.
What was the real speed here?
75mph is the maximum permitted speed for a preserved loco on main lines. Tornado did a 100mph run with special permission.
About 60mph.
My hutt
👍
Sir Nigel Gresley not doing 100mph
Read the write up.
It wasn't
It's to old to
Not allowed to go that fast
Yes they are,on speed testing watch the tornado doing over 100 mph 👍😎
95mph
All those track formations don't look 100mph. And Sir Nigel is only allowed to do 75mph. Only tornado was allowed to to do 100mph at night with mk3 coaches. Fake film. So sad..
Sir Nigel Gresley yes, 100mph NO.
I've always felt the Mallard 126mph speed record is not right. They broke the engine doing it. surely that record should not count. A german steam loco did 125mph without trashing it's bearings.
It still got to 125mph, melting the locomotive's bearing doing so doesn't matter
So if u ran to 40mph and u broke something in your leg, did you reach 40mph ?
If you were in a running race maybe you didn't get to the finish line! no point in having a fast train that does not reach it's destination. @@itzmespencer
