I wouldn’t say that I totally understand US politics (I’m from the uk) but I do know what I see or perceive. And most of the time Dave Smith’s views seem to represent my beliefs. He also seems to be a thoroughly decent, likeable and articulate guy.
He's quite often indecent. But he is likeable, yes.
This season of U.S.A has been a great watch. I do think the story line is a bit far fetched but it’s good entertainment

Best political commentator in existence (Dave Smith). I sometimes disagree with him, but rarely. He is a very objective and intuitive person.
Speaking of disagreeing...his claim of Putin being provoked to invade Ukraine...AGAIN. I contend Putin violated the post Soviet verbal "agreement" of no NATO weapons eastward expansion (Ukraine) by invading and annexing Ukraine/Crimea in 2014. It's like we keep absolving Putin, wishing to honor the "agreement"...after he invaded Georgia in 2008 creating other "buffer" states in the South Caucasus and in the Western Balkans...similarly as he has done to some degree with Moldova and Belarus. FYI, I'm not a Ukraine or die proponent.

watching and commenting just after biden dropped out and twitter is exploding with divisive and counterproductive nonsense from both sides. these guys are my people, man. logical, reasonable, calm, and pretty much spot on with most takes. why can't the rest of the country just cool it and become libertarian? we'd all be much happier in a peaceful, warless, free and open country.

I know Dave Smith isn't a fan of RFK Jr. due to his position on Israel (which I also have issues with), but RFK is STILL the best hope (of the candidates that have a ghost of a chance if winning) for ending the war in Ukraine and NOT starting another one. Kennedy has addressed the China issue by saying we need to project ECONOMIC power abroad (in order to compete with China) not MILITARY power. In his long interview with Dave Smith, when asked how he would have approached the Israel/Gaza situation, Kennedy said he would have immediately gathered together all the world leaders (including Putin) to work out a peaceful solution. He's not perfect, but he has my vote. RFK, all the way! 🎉

Yes! Peace through strength works! No one messes with the guy they KNOW will kick their as*. Eventually know even challenges that guy anymore. The guy never needs to fight to prove himself anymore. 22:59 what is he talking about here? 20th century was marked by high taxes, high spending and regulations. Regulations and spending is what what for the US out of the great depression, the economic golden age of the 50's-60's had a ~90% top bracket tax rate. This patern follows into the 21st century too - reduction of regulation caused the 2008 recession, restrained spending to address the recession, slowed the recovery. Having learned that lesson the massive spending to adress COVID economy while the supply lines recover is what helped to avoid another recession.

Dave is right "more of the same". Trump certainly will maintain status quo at home and abroad. That said a vote for him is more symbolic than anything, to harken to a time when if politicians spoke about lower taxes and non interventionism then their action would follow suit. If a vote for him means the possibility that they can end the Ukraine War? Then I will be making the gesture of voting for him later this year 😅

Dave, you cannot blame Trump for any part of what happened between Israel and Palestine on October 7th. A sitting president cannot make decisions based upon what the next president in office might do. If that were the case, you could also blame Trump for Biden‘s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
