    Kendrick isn’t coming at drake for being biracial he’s coming at Drake for the ways he seems to use blackness, Treating it like a costume he can put on and take off.
    Drakes career has benefited from being detached from blackness while simultaneously exploiting his blackness for entertainment. Just bc Kendrick is reiterating some of the things Pusha said doesn’t make them less valid.
    And knowing who Pac was and what he stood for Kendrick mentioning Drakes purchase of his ring was elite.

      Just for sake of argument… I am biracial and I feel like I can put on and take it off at will. I act one way with one family and can act a completely different way with the other side. Like a light switch. Could it be that?

      @@UncleTrebor Nothing wrong with being bi racial but that's where the similarities stop. Drake is biracial and has done things like "blackface"? Is that something you would do? I don't think you would so to me being biracial is where your similarities would end. The conversation isn't even about race to be honest, it's about being authentic and genuinely yourself. J Cole is bi racial and he doesn't and won't catch any of the same code switching bars because you can tell he's genuinely just being himself and he is the culture. You know you can tell when someone is fake or not if you know them personally, it's the same principle here.

    • @goreyfantod5213
      @goreyfantod5213 5 місяців тому +51

      @@UncleTrebor This conversation is a great illustration of why the term, "bi-racial," is useless. Race is a social construct - it barely even exists outside of the U.S., even though the diaspora is everywhere. Kendrick is discussing culture, NOT "race."
      To give a better idea of what I mean: I'm literally pre-configured to empathize with Drake. I'm a dual Canadian/American citizen, my father was Black American & my mother White Canadian. I was raised by my mother in Canada & never met my father. Where I'm from in (Western) Canada, my sibling & I were literally the only Black Americans we knew - all the other Black folks were Caribbean or African immigrants. We experienced Black culture through music, movies, tv, etc. I was way more immersed in First Nations & Metis culture than my, "blood inheritance."
      Can I code switch? Sure, but not like Drake. I can't & don't choose between White Canadian & Black American, because AAVE isn't native for me just like it isn't for Aubrey. Like Drake, I grew up around a lot of Jamaicans, but unlike Drake, I didn't make a habit of aping their accents. Their rhythms are faintly there in my voice because I've heard them so much, not because I imitated them to sound cooler after I became an adult.
      I choose between a profane working class multicultural Canadian vibe & a more uptight, middle class-sounding Canadian vibe when I have to deal with the Man. Drake is choosing to wear the costume of a Black American - if he was truly embracing our Black culture, he wouldn't mock Kendrick for being a conscious rapper, he'd humble himself & learn.

      Yeah, it was a deep cut. I felt bad though because there's a real little kid involved. Leave the babies out of this. Also, while he's away or partying a lot, when Drake's there from what I've heard he's a good Dad to Adonis. I think it's a lot to hit out at his fatherhood but Kendrick did already say the gloves have come off.

    There is so much in this diss that can be missed like the “park his son” bar referencing that drakes father has Parkinson’s disease. To the fact that he did three beat switches calling back to like that where he said “I hope they came with three switches” I feel like people forget how deep the raising his son bars go drake at first hid is son until pusha T made it public. Even then people say his son doesn’t live with drake. But you can even go as far as to Kendrick making fun at the fact drake’s dad left when he was five which was also mentioned by pusha t so he didn’t have a father figure so he knows nothing about being a dad.

    3. Euphoria, the definition.
    4. Euphoria, the show Drake is a producer on. Features high school kids in adult situations.

    • @haniyyahn
      @haniyyahn 6 місяців тому +3

      I think it's really your mother that makes a big difference in imparting culture and preparing you. There's all this stuff on TikTok from Black biracial folks with a white Mom about how difficult/problematic that was for them because their Mom, the parent they spent the most time with and the one who did the most childcare didn't really get a ton about Blackness and what that meant for them.

    • @jasonspades7775

    • @haniyyahn
      @haniyyahn 6 місяців тому +2

      @@jasonspades7775 I think that helps. There are some things, however, that your parents or other close relatives (a lot of people grow up with grandparents) explicitly tell you about being a Black person in a racist society. And they also model how to be to you. When you don't have the lived experience and may not know where all of the (often hidden) pitfalls are, it's hard to do that. And again, often that first teacher is your Mom or Grandma.

    He's coming at Drake for being a fake. He's an actor and a pop star not a rapper who actually lived that life. He's fronting. The island is remote says he's cool with a sólo life and he's low(staying out of the spotlight)To hell with the fame. He's reaping what he sows. He's content with his life and at peace with whatever comes because he's not fake. Drake gave one of his homies a Hell cat for his loyalty (his soul). Dementia/shakes/Parkinsons=park your son. So many layers. Drake brought Pacs chains and disrespected him by using his voice on A. I. to dis him. He didn't point down enough meaning, Drake isn't as high as he think he is. In order to hit Drake, you have to aim low because his lyrical skills is not even close to his. He's beneath him. A Drake is also a male duck. Everywhere Drake goes,he adopts the accent of that country. Ynw melly is acused of killing two of his friends. Drake seems to like young girls so they think they're real women. Keep waving your hands. In other words, stay in your pop star bubble and it won't be no mess. Drake is stealing the real rap heritage, trying to incorporate it as him being a real rapper. I grew up with Eric B.,Kool G Rap, Kid and Play, D. J. Polo, Herbie love bug. We all lived in the same neighborhood. I write poetry, so I'm deciphering Kdots bars from my perspective. I could be wrong. Love your interaction with each other. 👍🙏

    Drake has been doing some R. Kelly and Diddy stuff in the last decade plus. This is why Drake needs to be very careful with how he responds to Kendrick.
