Hello my dear followers. I hope you enjoy watching the fairy theater videos and remember your childhood days. I have a small wish from you. I have a second channel and I want to develop my channel. I ask for your support. I would be very happy if you subscribe and take some time. You can reach my second channel from this link .https: //ua-cam.com/users/istanbultravelchannelvideos
This entire production was acted so beautifully and at such a high level. For a children's show this is very high high quality. Hollywood films rarely achieve the chemistry/timing that Minnelli and Conti have here.
There are so many lines I understand now that I didn't quite catch as a kid, e.g., "We love you! We've had a nanny tell you that since the day you were born!" 😄
This was the episode I watched the most as a kid and it holds up. I gotta hand it to the writers for making such a charming romantic comedy out of a rather boring fairy tale.
I've just found these and can't believe they're still around and I can share them with my little one too. My siblings and I lived watching these in the 80s.
Delightful! One of the best in the series! Sometimes the modern touches and plot expansions to fill the 50 minutes don't work ("Sleeping Beauty" comes to mind) but in this one they give the characters and the romance time to develop and be truly satisfying. Liza Minelli's Alecia is charming, loving, and smart, and Tom Conti's Richard is such an adorable dork! And the music is wonderful!
This series was my childhood! Princess and the Pea was never my favourite fairy tale, but this was always my favourite episode, mainly because it was so damn funny.
For a princess is a delicate thing delicate and dainty as a dragon fly's wing you can recognize a lady by her elegant air but a genuine princess is exceedingly rare
The chemistry between the leads is awesome.. Love the background music when they have a romantic scene.. really appreciate that they gave the Prince and the princess sometime to fall in love..otherwise normally it's just love at first sight.
I agree that it is far better this way than the quick fall in love... friends first, get to know each other, then fall in love if it feels right to both.
29:45 is the start of my most favourite part of this story. This is the turn point in their relationship and the prince finds what he really wants in an ideal partner. Just makes me sigh…
Bahaha I love the highshool film project script. "I love nature, the nature is so nice. I can get all the exercise in nature...." And the part when she grabs his hand he looks SOOO awkward staring into the camera, jump cut, robotic "nice to be here with you baby" Yes this is obviously a couple who are so comfortable hanging out and talking together.
Ah. I loved these shows! My favorites were this one, the frog prince, the piper and the Princess who couldn't laugh. And after all these years, I still adore the king in here. he always cracked me up.
this is probably why the actors who were around before 1994 gained alot of prominence, because of shows like this that allowed them to show a different side to their acting skills.
R.I.P. Beatrice Straight (1914-2001) (Queen Veronica / Woman in Museum), Pat Ast (1941-2001) (Princess # 1) and Pat McCormick (1927-2005) (King Fredrico / Man in Museum).
Liza's so charming and beautiful here. She also reminds me of Lady Gaga. She would be perfect in a modern version of this. I think Liza also sounds like her and I can picture her doing and acting the way Liza did in this.
I love how everything in this episode is black, gray and-white without the black-and-white filter, what they added to “The Princess and The Pea” story are pleasant.
@@gayconservman1764 keyword without the filter! I meant the sets and costumes are not very colorful despite this episode of being color, the color palette is black, brown, white and gray shades, not a very colorful episode yet no black and white filter.
Liza Minnelli is fantastic. The prince is an absolute idiot. It’s interesting to see the royal butler at 14:40...he’s Arturo, the bandleader, in Cinderella. Bonafus the dwarf in Snow White is also a royal servant here.
47:59 Lady, haven't you been listening to the story? 48:02 Hey! DON'T TOUCH THE GLASS!!! 1:53 Don..Don't touch the glass. 2:12 Hey Hey hey. Don't touch the glass. If you wanna hear the story, Don't touch the glass.
The Princess and the Pea is one of the all-time great Faerie Tale Theatre episodes. Featuring a talented cast and brilliant costumes and sets, it's totally adorable. Prince Richard (Tom Conti) leads a boring and eventless life under the thumb of his controlling mother Queen Veronica (Beatrice Straight). Until, one stormy night, in whirls the vivacious Princess Alecia (Liza Minnelli). But is she really a princess? Queen Veronica is skeptical, so employs a method to test her royalty: she places a tiny pea under 20 mattresses and quilts. If Alecia can feel the pea it will prove beyond any doubt her royal blood. Will Alecia pass the test? And if she does, will she choose to marry Richard? You'll find out in The Princess and the Pea. Co-starring Jane Alden and Nancy Allen.
@@FlixCreEightR So far there are 8 Disney Princesses based on fairy tales right now: 1. Snow White. 2. Cinderella. 3. Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty". 4. Ariel from "The Little Mermaid". 5. Belle from "Beauty and the Beast". 6. Jasmine from "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp". 7. Tiana from "The Frog Prince". 8. Rapunzel.
Oh my goodness.... that is hilarious and perfect! Did everyone else miss the joke here????? I love it... Penelopea! Maybe a name for the prince could be Prince Persnickety or Prince Meticulous, since in the original story, he was the one who demanded that only a real princess would do for him.... of course it would have been better historically and biologically if the Royals had not inbred so much. Hemophilia, mental instability, short lives, fasciae and other bodily disfigurements were the result of only allowing Royals to marry Royals!!! Cousins of every degree married each other. I like the story of The Little Princess the best, she acts the way she believes a real princess should act, gracious, charitable, and kind as well as nurturing and using ones intelligence.
thanks for the upload! haha sweetchuck thought he was upgrading to stud class then he put a rope around his neck. and the blonde princess forgot her number. true 80s
As a kid watching this episode, i saw Princess Elizabeth and thought ' what a bitch '. but now I watch this and think - what a career-driven young woman, thata gurl.
It's not the same music. It's the same composer Robert Folk. He definitely wrote a different theme for this and he also wrote the sublime music for Thumbelina!
Guys guys guys!! I lobe this movie!! So sweet ❤️❤️ do you guys know the what the title of the background music that plays when there's a sweet scene?? Plz and tnx!! 😄

Thank you so much! I watched these all the time on Showtime in the early 1980s.
P.S. The lady in the museum in the beginning is Dr. Lech from Poltergeist and the security guard is sweet chuck from Police Academy!
No problem, your second channel seems cool 👍
RIP Shelley Duvall 😢 thank you for being such a positive part of my childhood!
This entire production was acted so beautifully and at such a high level. For a children's show this is very high high quality. Hollywood films rarely achieve the chemistry/timing that Minnelli and Conti have here.
I kind of get the feeling that they let Conti and Minnelli do a lot of improvising, which they both excel at.
true

I just adore Liza in this! ❤
I checked this out from the library as a kid and watched it over and over - I had SUCH a crush on the prince, I remember thinking he was so cute!

This is great. What a surprise it is to find a complete episode. It's so well written (for adults).

BayareaGuy06 she was great in Poltergeist
Pat ast was in Reform School Girls, I think.

i love the bit in 2:31 that sweetchuck from police academy is talking to the late Margaret Thatcher.
They should make a Disney version of The Princess and the Pea. Her name could be Princess Penelope

Dig RoboCop.
Liked her as the prostitute Liz in De Palma's Dressed to Kill, from 1980 (he also directed Carrie).
Yo cop the pea in the glass was going because if the guy didn’t toucheed the glass it could break
