Hello, my name is Merrill Kazanjian and I am a metal detectorist. This is a teaching channel where you will learn metal detecting techniques and gain knowledge. My channel, Metal Detecting NYC is a good place to learn metal detecting 101 on youtube.

I am a teacher and my channel will show you how to metal detect for beginners all the way through advanced techniques for metal detectorists. I am the owner of a Minelab Safari Metal Detector, a Garrett AT Pro (at pro metal detector youtube), a WOT coil and I can teach you how to recover the deepest of targets with a metal detector. My metal detecting finds include many gold and platinum rings and early American coins as well as British Colonial coins and Spanish Colonial Coins. Metal detecting is a hobby that millions of people around the world do. All you need to try is a metal detector some batteries, a digging tool and some patience. My first metal detector cost 30 dollars at BJ's and I dug enough signals to buy my first "real" metal detector with the change that I found with the 30 dollar toy model. I decided to start Metal detecting on UA-cam because I feel the need to teach what I know. It has been a life changing activity for me and I want to share what I know. It is my hope that Metal Detecting NYC can become one of the biggest metal detecting youtube channels. My beach instructional videos include (or will include soon) , "metal detecting dry sand", (choosing a) "metal detecting sand scoop" and "surf hunting". On land, I use the website historic aerials to survey the history of a site so that I can continue metal detecting old homesites and other places with a lot of history. Subscribe to my channel to see my metal detector finds for 2019. What a hoot when you all stand around admiring a find with your detectors chirping like a 1970s tv show computer.

Merril great video! What were the years on all your coins! One of the kids stole one of indian head pennies!! 😂 I found 10 came home with 9. 1874,1878,1899,1900,1902, 4 blank, V nickel 1898, 2 blank buffalos, fun hunting for sure.

Only Love for you, Brother. No new age funk here, but I get a good vibe from you. I'm binging on all your beach videos. I'm pretty good with park hunting, but I can spend 5 hrs at the Great Lakes beaches and come home with nothing but broken sunglasses and nuts and bolts. Ugh 😩. In fact, one of the beaches I search has history of prehistoric peoples buried within what had (centuries later) become farmland. I'm so fascinated with the history of this area, albeit the ancient shoreline would be probably 100 or more yards further out than the current shoreline.

Hello! Uk metal detectorist here. New to the channel great content great guy.
If your equinox is running low on juice while on the beach/field you can always use a battery bank to charge while you keep on swinging! Also saw you where having trouble changing your detector in a past video, try using a phone charger as long as it doesn’t exceed 2Amps you will be fine! Charging with 1 amp devices will literally take twice as long compared to 2amp plug. Keep up the good work hope this helps.

Metal Detecting NYC omg thats awesome.funny story.. there is an old asylum by my house and last fall when i first got my detector i got a signal there and i got a metal thing shaped like a coin. ive shown it on here and brought it to different coin sellers and i cant get a positive id on it. its eloise insane asylum here in michigan. they made a low budget movie about it. they were giving tours around halloween time. but i think they have sold it to a new owner and they plan on tearing it down. its in michigan if you want to look it up!👍😊

DO IT! The equipment will pay for itself with use. The process of metal detecting is my mindfulness activity. At first you feel the eyes of others looking at you but you realize in time that it is not a scornful or even critical thing. People are curious and you’ll learn to smile and answer questions and you’ll be comfortable almost anywhere. For me it was the “awkwardness” that made me wait as long as I did to start metal detecting. I’m glad I made that decision to try. I hope you do too.

Thank you JoeMoe Moe. The reason that I am making them long is because youtube is asking its content creators to go for retention time. Total is slightly more important than percentage. In other words an hour video with a 25% retention time is more valuable than a 2 minute video with a 90% retention time.
