I really struggled to grow snowdrops in my garden but finally my perseverance has paid off and they are starting to spread. Such a joyous sight at this time of year. X

They really are and hopefully once they are off they will keep spreading. Fingers crossed. X

Just beautiful. Snowdrops were my lovely Mum's favourite flower. They were always flowering
on her mid-February birthday. Always a special remembrance & a promise that Spring is near. Thank you so much, Jane. It really lifted my day. Hope you have a really lovely weekend. 🌿

      Thank you Kathryn.
I think that they are an important flower of remembrance.
The ones I have planted are a remembrance of all the wonderful animals we have had in our lives which are buried under the hazel and silver birch trees.
      Have a great weekend. J x

Oh, how I wish I cold grow some snowdrops; I live in northern California and certain bulbs do not do well here as it is too warm. I love Lily -of the Valley as well; but no luck. Jane, you look so pretty here in this vid. You must be feeling well and good for you!

Thank you - we are very lucky that they grow here - though I have some Lily of the valley that were in my mother in law’s garden which I transplanted here. I am hoping that they will be happy. J x

A lovely Vlog , thank you. Snowdrops are one of my favourite flowers, they appear in time for my January birthday and lift my spirits no end. I’m very lucky to be living on what was a large estate and there are carpets of snowdrops in lots of unexpected places, including the garden. I’m definitely going to have a go at growing bulbs for the house next year.

I love these old established snowdrop patches that you so often get around C19th houses. You can dig up clumps of bulbs when the flowers just begin to appear and temporarily cram them into bowls for a few weeks of cheer before planting them back outside. X

I love snowdrops and now have a lovely carpet of them from a few bunches I planted a few years ago. I subscribe to your Friday email and enjoy reading it - I had not heard of Lily Blatherwick so I have looked her up - thanks for mentioning her. I agree with your comment about plants being memorable gifts as they are such a lovely reminder of the person and make the garden feel so much more personal.

Thank you Elizabeth. Lily Blatherwick is sadly little known - I love her botanical prints. X

This is one of the things I love best about social media Susan - glimpses into other people’s worlds. Happy shovel preparation. J x
